LRHS helped make the magic happen at our home this Christmas. This little girl has stolen our hearts. Katy-thank you for answering all of my questions and being so patient with me (first time cat owner). She LOVES to be with her people...and might be part parrot...she loves to sit on our shoulders. Thank you so much!

It has been several years (I believe 5 this August!) since we adopted our sweet boy, Bear, from Lakes Region. I will forever remember the day we adopted him as one of the best days to date- we came to the shelter with no intention of adopting and left with our best friend.Highly recommend this shelter. Rescuing a pet has never been so easy and the staff was so kind and compassionate. We lucked out with such a great pup but the experience, to this day, was wonderful.

We got the chance to welcome home these two sweet pups, they are so cuddly and loving. The pups are already listening to basic commands. The staff was wonderful through the entire adoption process. Thanks LRHS for our new family members ❤ we are so excited for all the adventures to come with these two.

My husband and I came to adopt 1 pup and ended up adopting 2 a brother and a sister the staff was so sweet and seemed to really love the animials. And when we went to leave they brought each pup a very generous Goody bag. They gave us a great folder with all their info on each pup just very well put together and informational communicated with us wonderfully. And answered all and every question we had to the best of their abilities. Would highly recommend adopting from this place and may again in the future soon we hope!!! Thank you Deb and Kat for understanding our situation and working with us. You guys were very patient!!

The ladies at the humane society are all stellar. They care so much about the animals, great place to go to adopt a pet. Colleen is fantastic with the dogs and the cat rooms almost always have awesome cats to pet. 10/10 would recommend

This is the second time we have adopted from Lakes Region Humane Society and couldn’t be happier. Apollo ( formerly Hank) is settling in nicely and is such a joy. Thank you.

We just adopted a cat from them. It's difficult to do a lot of things with the pandemic going on. LRHS made the adoption process so smooth for us. The staff are wonderful, friendly, knowledgeable about each individual animal. They took time hear what we wereLooking for in our newest addition and matched us with the right one. They took time to answer all the questions we had about our newest addition. They are truly amazing and couldn't ask for a better experience!

I take my senior dog there to get her toenails cut. She's very Leary of strangers, but trotted right down the hallway with staff. ( And this is a 14 year old dog who hyperventilates when we go to the vet she's known since she was a puppy) staff is friendly, they had leashes and collars for sale on the porch.( My dog, the fashionista didn't need any) They are usually looking for towels and small blankets ( call first) but you can leave them on the small porch when they aren't open.

My daughter and I adopted a cat the other weekend, who was a wonderful animal. He did happen to come with ringworm, Which they have said there's nothing they can do about it. I'm very dissatisfied with the way the shelter has handled this handled this, they could have easily prescribed some medicine for us. In the future we will definitely be using other shelters for adoption.

We adopted for the second time yesterday. The staff is incredible, knowledgeable and compassionate. The facility itself is always clean, and all the animals look completely content; which is something you don’t always see at a shelter. The faculty takes time to get to know each furbaby which really helps with placement. We are truly grateful for lakes region humane society.

Very nice people, friendly and helpful. They answered all my questions and did not make me feel pressured. The cat we took (Shadow) appears to be healthy and happy. They even gave us a letter from his foster mom with information on his likes and dislikes! All in all a positive experience.

This is a small shelter with a very caring staff and volunteers. They have space for a dozen dogs/puppies and about the same number of cats/kittens. It's very clean and completely oriented to making the animals' stay there comfortable. Dogs have large fenced outdoor areas and walking trails through the woods. Highly recommend volunteering at and/or adopting from this shelter!

Though I haven't adopted from LRHS, I volunteer and spend quite a bit of time there. The animals are well cared for and loved by a fantastic staff. I have taken several training classes from Louise, all of which have been great fun for me and my dogs!

I recently joined the board of LRHS, and adopted a cat and a kitten. The process was thoughtful and thorough, but very easy. Our little shelter is amazing-since my adoption I have also taken my dog, Maya, for a nail trim, and we are planning on taking some of the wonderful training courses offered. I HIGHLY recommend checking in often to see the beautiful cats and dogs looking for homes- friendly staff members who obviously love animals are always eager to help, and they know these animals well.

When we were in need of help with dog food we received help from the wolfeboro pantry a couple of times. Thanks again for your your kindness.

The animals are well taken care of, and this would be a great shelter if it wasn’t for the staff. They are judgmental and rude, and seemed to have me and my friend labeled as soon as we walked through the door. They kicked us out of a room while we were looking at a dog so another older couple could come look at it, and we were told they were “serious about adopting” as though we weren’t. I read through the other bad reviews and this seems like a trend here, where younger people aren’t taken seriously and are treated poorly. Might want to work on that.

I called LRHS on February 16th to ask if they had any cats up for adoption, specifically, a snuggly cat that would be happy in a household that already has one cat. I was told that they certainly did have some cats available, and they had the perfect cat in mind - and they were right! We arrived to a clean, bright facility with staff that clearly loves every animal that comes into their care. The cat room that we visited had lots of toys and activities, kitty stairs and perches, and the enclosures were all well-stocked and in good repair. The staff was extremely knowledgeable about the animals residing at their facility, and they were incredibly compassionate - I shared with them that my beloved elderly cat, Owen, had recently passed away, and it was easy to see that their concern and condolences were genuine. A further testament to the level of care they exhibit towards their four-legged residents: while I was signing paperwork, a gentleman came in to get his dog fitted for a new harness. The pup had been a LRHS resident, and he was so happy to see his friends on the staff, that his whole body was wagging along with his tail during the fitting. His owner was gushing with happy stories about how things were going at home, and the staff were so happy to hear every bit of it.In the end, the kitty that they thought would be an excellent fit... absolutely was. I fell in love with Spunky immediately, and she has already been so affectionate with me, even spending time on my lap enjoying as many ear and cheek rubs as I could possibly give. We (my family and I,) did end up renaming her on the way home, though.... As she was taken in as a stray, having already had one litter of kittens and already in heat again before getting spayed by the veterinarian, and has a little white ring around one hind leg like a garter, we joked that she was like that song "Roxanne" by The Police now that she was coming home with us - "You don't have to put on the red light!" the name stuck, and Spunky is now Roxanne, called Roxy for short. I'm looking forward to many years of kitty snuggles with her, and I can't possibly thank LRHS enough for bringing her into my life!

After waiting… I get my wish. Wanted a long hair gray kitten. LRHS called, i took first available appointment and fell in love with this little boy. He loves to snuggle.

I adopted Wilbur 8 months ago from the shelter. The staff, particularly Sandy and Louise, were extremely helpful with the adoption process and follow up support as Wilbur adjusted to my household with other cats and two dogs. LRHS is a wonderful shelter and the staff give 110%. All of the animals receive so much love and caring from the wonderful staff while they are waiting for their forever homes.

I would recommend this humane society in ossipee nh a five plus. Responded right away to my phone call. Drove there immediately and was greeted by 2 women with smiles and a big welcome. Checked out most of the cats and found one that found me. Went to get him today and was greeted in the same manner. So glad I drove an hour to Ossippee. Than you ladies

I adopted a senior dog there. The people couldn't have been nicer. I visit there often to see the cats, to buy the latest tee shirts or to drop off donations. This place is wonderful. I will continue to support it.

This is honestly hands down the best place to adopt a animal especially for veterans with disabilities or service animals. They are upbeat to what you want and go over board to meet your request. I appreciate what they have done for my family. It means the world!

Was trying to answer questions over the phone about adopting a pet. Was treated very condescendingly and talked over. When explaining what happened to my old cat (on the application I had made a mistake) I wanted to make sure it was clear my old cat had passed away from battling FIV for years and that it was not from neglect. I was interrupted and rudely told they didn’t need to know what happened to the cat because “they know all the details of the illness my cat had”. This was very upsetting because my cat and I had a close bond and to be rude to someone trying to explain how their old cat passed? Insensitive. I was also snapped at when I offered to show pictures of my apartment in case they wanted to make sure the cat would be going to a good home. I was snapped at again when trying to explain that I didn’t have a vet clinic record because I’ve never owned a pet in my current area and I was interrupted and snapped at AGAIN saying I need a vet file open in order to adopt. I ended up hanging up the phone feeling like I was an idiot. I’ll be taking my services elsewhere. Unfortunate to because these animals need a good home but I am completely turned off with how I was spoken to.
