I came here for some hiking shoes as I had gone through my old ones. Pat helped me out, asking me various questions on terrain, hiking plans, and some more details. He then gave me a few options with insightful pros and cons on each shoe.Even the people at the checkout were very kind and struck up joyful and fun conversations. Loved the whole experience. They know what they're talking about at the store.Went out hiking with them after and they worked great!

I love REI! The prices aren't cheap, but they sell quality stuff. I usually always find what I'm looking for for my outdoor activities. The stores are usually well-organized and clean. The staff is always helpful and friendly.

Unfortunately on multiple occasions, promotions and services offered by the ski and bike departments where falsely advertised.I was told multiple times that becoming a member would save me on labor cost, for things like switching bike or ski parts.My son is a freshman in highschool and trying to further his sporting activities so I purchased the membership it would have been the perfect membership if only it was advertised with truth. I was told by two different employees that it would be free labor as I would be a member and only need to pay for parts...FALSE! It has cost me twice as much!Upon price checking I found that they are charging double the price for certain services, that are offered at fair prices locally. Such as Sun and Ski, Stand and Dan's and Andy's.I was also charged for a ski tune, that they couldn't complete safely due to (broken equipment) that they did not inform me of at the time of drop off. It is dangerous to ski with incorrectly set bindings. It is just wrong to charge for work you didn't do on top of falsely advertising your services.

Four stars only because they have such low inventory !! It was very tough getting what I wanted to get (found size, but not color ,, or color was good but no size). The staff was very helpful though! I hope they can figure out their supply chain issues soon.

Had such a strange experience here today, had to share some feedback as this was a departure from my normal five star experiences at many REIs. Arrived post December holidays bummed to discover that they’d just shutdown their rental program without notice to previous renters and at such a strange time e,g. Why not do it well ahead of ski season? It was a painful customer experience. Also looked at purchasing cross country ski boots, but was discouraged from trying on any of the boots in stock. Not sure what the current strategy evolution is, but seems some strategic moves are getting lost in translation, resulting in poor customer experiences.

Thank you to the bike department at REI. We were in desperate need of help to keep the bikeloud.org crew going on our journey from Wilmington NC to Quoddy State Park ME and they delivered. Pulling stuff from other bikes, improvising, spotting coming critical failures on the rims and helping us pick the right gear to keep us moving. Coming in unannounced is always risky, these guys are busy, but they worked us in to keep us on schedule. Thank you from the whole crew!

I hope I don't get their names wrong but Mac and Noah thanks again for doing a great job installing my Thule roof box.. there are so few places these days where you can get customer service that doesn't feel like they are put out of their way to help you. We've been members for as long as I have remember and intend to keep it that way.

Gee I don’t know where to start, store is huge and far to spaced out, clearance isn’t clearance it’s 30% off, and man it would be nice if one of REI employees looked like they knew anything about what they talk about, I mean not to be judgmental but where are you hiring from? 35 year old NH locals that can’t find a job anywhere else, they don’t give a hoot about the outdoors, and don’t know squat about it to begin with. And that’s going of off two separate occasions visiting this locations .

Sarah, at REI North Conway, NH, was anamazing help to my husband yesterday getting him into a proper hiking pack as he is getting himself ready to hike the Appalachian Trail. She was able to give him solid facts with comparing one fact with another. He is a big guy with some lower back pain, so comfort and versatility with weight distribution are essential. Thank you, Sarah for being such a great help!

The staff is so knowledgeable and helpful! Basically everyone here is an outdoor enthusiast and can share from their own experience. When they don’t have much experience in a specific field, they quickly redirect you to a colleague who does. Going here and talking to real people is much more informative (and enjoyable) than browsing through Internet forums!Good prices and great return / satisfaction policy.

I overwhelmingly recommend the bike shop at North Conway REI. I brought in an ICE-brand trike to have the 10-hour “shakedown” tune-up performed. Even though iCE is not a brand that REI carries and the fact that it was a trike instead of a 2-wheeled bike, the shop did not bat an eye when I brought it in for service. In fact, the shop has worked on many trikes, so mine did not present a “special case”. The tuneup was performed expertly and carefully, under the supervision of the long-time expert bike mechanic and shop manager, Dean. Also, I needed new tires with more grip in order to better-handle gravel roads while still being able to take on smooth, paved rail trails. Dean found a great solution in a short amount of time. Despite the “tire challenge” and our saying that we were in no rush to get the trike back, both the tuneup and the tire search took about a week. I was expecting finding a solution to the tire search to take much longer. Again, I highly recommend the bike shop at the North Conway REI, and find it a bit frustrating that I cannot give it more than 5 stars

I have had a great experience here, from start to finish! Dean was super friendly and knowable the whole time. Didn’t seem to mind when I called him 3 days in a row regarding my skis. Pick up was easy, but my poles were no longer available ( we didn’t find this out until the day of pick up) and Mac was soooo kind and easy going. Super sweet guy, puts the customers first. He credited me the amount I paid for my poles and gave me poles for free that they normally rent to people for the inconvenience. I didn’t expect that at all! All in all what great service I have received from this REI ! I live 3 hrs away and I will only deal with them from now on for all my skiing needs !! 100 stars!

We were helped by a salesperson named Fisher. He is an awesome guy who carefully explained the features on my wife's new bike and explained the REI aftercare program. Every employee kindly asked us if we needed any help, you don't get that very often these days. Thank you all! 😁

Rubber and Spike winter hiking crampons are by far one of the greatest investments you can make, if you are living in rural northern hemisphere. The sheek smooth design coupled with the five prong spike fit snugly over most footwear and hardly roll to the side, giving you grip, stability, and balance on the iciest terrain. I wouldn't go out in a Nor-easter without them. I cannot count how many times I've taken a digger before having them. Now that I do, I feel like I can go more places, do more things, and accomplish my fitness goals with ease. Thank you R.E.I for providing me the freedom of a grip on life, you have my gratitude!-Patrick-

I love REI! They have everything you could need from camping, hiking, skiing,and mountain biking. I have always found friendly knowledgeable staff. And the return policy is amazing. Buy it and try it in the real world. under real conditions, if it's not working for you return or exchange it for something else.What an amazing company ☺️

I constantly feel like you have to fight for just basic decent service these days. I recent purchased two Co-op Cycles REV 24 Plus Kids' Bikes. There were scheduled to arrive a few weeks before Christmas unfortunately they didn’t and I was told they were pushed out a week no big deal we still time. The next week same story nope. I call with just a few days before Christmas and they are just wrapping up one and have the second one ready to assemble. The manager offers a discount for not having them ready in time but I’m just glad they arrived. We drove 2 hours and picked them up on the 24th and to be honest at that point I was just glad they had them. My kids were ecstatic we got bells and a few other accessories and were able to ride out the door that day.I didn’t have to bicker or fight with anyone they apologized for the delay and offer a discount which was gracious. What I appreciated the most was they didn’t make excuses for the delays and inconvenience. It seems so rare these days that a store actually says sorry we committed to something we couldn’t meet and that’s what mattered so I thank the store manager for his honesty, you guy rock and you make two young boys day for sure! Thank you of acknowledging the mistake and making it right.

Very helpful associates. I was able to go in the store, ask 2 different associates for assistance with binoculars and lady's mittens, made my purchases and was out of the store within 15 minutes. In these times of covid that is very important to me. All safety protocols such as sanitizing, social distancing, mask requirements etc. were in effect.

My absolute favorite outdoor store. Every single brand and product I like or want they carry. Between only carrying the best brands, they also have a very helpful staff and an excellent in-house brand. If I need something, I always go here first. It's also my favorite place to get gift cards from!

I've never had an issue with REI when shopping in store, which is why I'm giving them two stars, but think twice if you're considering buying online.REI doesn't seem to know what they have for products, where they have them or IF they have them at all... but that doesn't stop them from offering to sell stuff to you anyway. They will give you a confirmation and estimated date of arrival upon purchase, but that will NEVER update. It'll just stay the original estimated date even if the order is delayed or not coming at all. If you call or chat with Customer Service, they will give you another estimated date of arrival, but won't update your order info and won't give you any kind of definitive answer about when your item will arrive, because they have no idea. It's an estimate.In this day and age, where I can order products online and some companies will send me actual videos of my order being packed and mailed out along with tracking info for every step of the journey, REI doesn't even know if they actually have the products they're selling people. There's no excuse. There are independent online merchants working out of their basement with better inventory management and tracking availability.TLDR; Buy in store. Skip their online sales.

Very helpful staff members who know the products or will find someone who does. Helpful with instore and online purchases in case your size/color/style isn't on the shelf. Perfect policies for masks wearing and cleanliness during this time. I feel safe shopping here.
