I am experienced with training dogs but not for certain specialty work. After getting a dog who was designated to be my service dog, I contacted Tom for help. He was amazing about tailoring sessions for my needs and for keeping my dog interested and actively interacting with me. Together we figured out how to approach my dog so he understands my needs and Tom was amazing about listening to me and my concerns, Everyone is amazed not only at how well behaved my dog is but also the fact that he is clearly my partner and my constant companion.. It is obvious my dog is not just a trained animal to do my bidding. Tom's experience and expertise helped me and my dog develop that partnership and took it to another level.

If I could give more stars, I would. We spent thousands of dollars on 13 sessions with a different trainer, and had essentially given up hope. Tom was able to fix the dog agression issues we were having with our rescue in one session! Thank you, Tom and Terrie!

Tom is fantastic! Radford takes great care of our dog Tucker. Our dog does not like to be away from us but he does very well at Radford and he really likes Tom. We have also done individual training sessions at Radford which I also highly recommend.

We had originally found Tom when he was living in Vermont. He helped us tremendously with our dog Blaze who suffered from dog aggression due to a hoarding situation. Tom took the time to train not only Blaze but myself and my husband what to do in all situations. That was over a year and a half ago. When we found out Tom was moving to NH, I knew we were forever grateful to have been referred to him. Now back to reality, Blaze had a bad experience with the vet recently. To give a little history, we think the original owner of Blaze was a male with a beard. Since Blaze was a puppy, he has had a strong dislike for men with beards and glasses. Blaze ended up hurting his back and his vet was not available. We ended up having to bring him in with the male vet. Things were going great until the vet decided to test Blaze and see if Blaze would react. Well guess what? That test ended with Blaze snapping into old habits and ripping his pants. After that we had a rough weekend where I was beyond stressed and Blaze was out in situations where he didn’t need to be in. I started questioning if keeping Blaze was going to be an option. And of course everyone you talk to always has an opinion especially when you have a dog that is a rescue mix. Right away I knew I had to find a way to talk to Tom. I called his brothers dog center and was able to get Toms information. Boy was I happy. Tom got us in that same week and took the time to not only talk to us but elevate lane and analyze all the situations that happened to bring us back to Tom. We had such a great session and we walked about with happy tears knowing Blaze is going to be ok. Tom, we are so grateful for you. I would 100% bring your dog to him. And the new location is right off the interstate which is so nice.

Our 2 year old husky/shepherd mix is a sweet boy with some challenges that include dog aggression, jumping, and pulling on the leash. From the moment Tom arrived for our initial training session, our dog’s behavior changed - I am not exaggerating! Tom is extremely personable and professional; he has provided helpful tidbits and how to effectively (and safely) use the recommended equipment. This has set the course for me to build a better relationship with our dog and I can already tell a huge difference in terms of his obedience. I am so impressed with our first two sessions and look forward to continuing training with Tom’s guidance. If you are looking to be more confident as a dog owner and tidy up your dog’s manners, give Radford K9 a call!

Tom has made it so that our lives are so much less stressful our two dogs and a labrador and a German Shepherd are now well behaved and as long as you put the work in and keep going after your training, things work out, we were able to get a little puppy as well Which we didn’t think we were going to be able to do before Tom’s training. Thank you so much for everything you have done for my family.

I had an impressive experience with Tom at RadfordK9. From first meeting with Tom, I knew I had made the right decision for Freyja (working line Czech Shepard). Tom’s passion for dogs and years of expertise in canine training and behavior was evident. Not only did Tom possess an in-depth understanding of various dog breeds, but he also tailored the training sessions to suit Freyja’s individual needs and personality. This personalized approach made a significant difference in not only Freyja's but also my own progress, as he was able to address specific behavior challenges and reinforce positive habits effectively. The training techniques used were not only highly effective but easily repeatable as the owner (the dumb end of the leash). It was evident that Tom genuinely cared about the well-being of all the dogs in Radford K9s care.Additionally, Tom took the time to answer all of my questions(most via text after hours), offering valuable insights and guidance beyond my expectations and that of previous trainers. This support was crucial in strengthening the bond between Freyja and our family as well as understanding the roles and hierarchy we play. The RadfordK9 facility itself was well-maintained and equipped with everything needed to get the most out of training and allow for no interaction between the dogs minimizing any risks. The one dog at a time, no interaction training gave me piece of mind when I went away for an extended trip leaving my baby in RadfordK9s care.In conclusion, I cannot thank Tom enough for his exceptional skills, dedication to training both ends of the leash, and his genuine love for dogs. I highly recommend Tom & RadfordK9 to anyone losing hope or may have seen a slip in behavior. As well as those just seeking professional and effective training for their beloved K9 family members. Go with RadfordK9 You won't be disappointed!

I took my younger 1yr old dog Shelby to see Tom at Radford K9 for training. She is high energy, very smart but also very stubborn. In just 3 classes she and I both learned what we needed to work on. She was very calm around him, listened and had fun. I learned a lot in those 3 classes but we aren’t done yet. We will absolutely be going back for more 1 on 1 sessions to learn more. Tom’s experience, dedication, love for training dogs and teaching owners how to build that bond is evident from the first conversation. I would highly recommend Radford K9 training for all personalities and breeds. We have 2 very different dogs who needed 2 very different training approaches. Cannot wait to continue our training.

We could not be more thankful we found Tom and Radford K9! We rescued a pup, and as first time dog owners we were in need of training. We moved to NH and found Tom, and are so glad we did! He gave us the confidence to train our dog, and our dogs confidence has grown so much as well. He came to our home, which is where almost all of our problems were stemming from including non-stop barking at anyone who came through the door. His ability to assess a situation and educate and build confidence in both the dog and owner is amazing. We could not recommend him enough and are so thankful for all the knowledge he provided us!

Tom immediately just knew how to handle our German Shepherd puppy. German Shepherds are amazing breeds and not everyone understands them. Our vets were a bit nervous around our puppy, as she was scared around them. Tom on the very first visit knew exactly how to make her feel at ease, gain her trust and teach her to be confident. I can't wait to see her grow with him in our sessions! And I especially can't wait to see her walk confidently into our vets office and any situation without feeling scared and nervous. Tom is a very personable, fun guy and makes learning FUN for both the dog and us humans! Excited to have him in our area. :) Thanks Tom!

Not even sure where to begin? We have recently moved up to NH full time. I have been volunteering at a dog shelter that kindly shared Tom's info with me. We have two adopted dogs that we adore. However, they have some issues. One isn't good with people and dogs, the other loves people but not good with other dogs. Yikes! What a combination to deal with. How are we ever going to be able to go away without them?Solution......Radford K-9. Answer to our prayers!!I reached out to Tom. He texted back immediately and then followed up, very quickly, with a phone call. We talked for quite a while about what is going on with our pups. He was responsive to every issue and concern I had. I knew I had called the right person for sure!We have met twice thus far. Already, a big difference in my confidence. As Tom, consistently says, the more confident we are, the more issues will be resolved. BINGO! He has taken me out of my comfort zone, and I can see the positive accomplishments already with our two adopted dogs.I look forward to continually working with Radford K-9. Whether it's a home visit or taking advantage of his personal location, I feel confident we will continue to make progress and reach our goals. My husband and I are thrilled with Radford K-9 Life changing!

I have known Tom since 2018 when we found him to help with our so called untrainable German Shepherd puppy that several other trainers gave up on saying he was untrainable. Tom not only came up with a plan for Hunter and helped with his anxiety but gave my daughter the knowledge and confidence of how to handle him.Simply Tom is just the best! He has the knowledge that can help the dog, but skills that helps the human learn how to communicate better with their canine.I recommend Tom hands down as a dog trainer!

I would highly recommend using RadfordK9 for your dog training needs! Tom was professional, polite, and eager to help my fiancé and I with our 1 year old pup. He came directly to our home and shared his years of expertise with hands on training!

Before booking I emailed back and forth multiple times in a day. Quick response each time. First session went ok. I booked boarding so I could have a hospital procedure done. I tried to cancel well in advance expecting a refund. A week goes by no refund or response. I emailed back and said since I already paid I'll keep.the boarding and get the procedure done. Still no response. I emailed at least two or three more times before finally getting a response. They said they would throw some training in with it. Two training sessions to be exact. I was excited and felt blessed. I get out of the hospital and head straight to work on the day I was supposed to pick him up at 5:30. I live two plus hours each way from their facility. My job was halfway. So upon arrival to work I was let go. Instead of driving four hours to come back just a few hours later to pick him up I called and gave them over an hour notice by voicemail that I'd be on my way now to get him. Of course no call back. I get there and an treated poorly and quite disrespectful for being early. Mind you I'm in serious pain from just leaving a hospital procedure and lost my job. Already not a good day. With an attitude and absolutely no control over my 75 pound German shepherd who is quite happy to see me he is letting him.jump.slll over me. He scratched my face actual til it bled while Tom did nothing to hold him back. As my dog is jumping all over me and Tom isn't helping at all he's just handing over his bags of food and treats. I'm sorry I don't have three hands. Finally he helps get Loki in the car I can only assume because I was taking too long. As he was walking away he said his wife sent me videos of how well his training went. I waited three days before emailing asking for the videos he mentioned. There were two a minute a piece of my dog literally being held on a leash sniffing. That's it. I was disgusted. Disappointed. I do not recommend this place. And be aware that if you are paying for training you may want to make sure you stick around bc I'm positive Loki got zero training there. They made my bad day worse. They are horrible with communication unless it's about them getting your money. Fake people. Unorganized. Horrible experience.

We have had one session so far and Tom was amazing with my dog. I have never seen my 10 month old German Shepard not become reactive to other dogs but that is exactly what happened during our session! He is understanding, extremely knowledgeable and it is obvious that he wants the best for both human and pup! I asked tons of questions and he was patient with me and explained things thoroughly! If you are looking for a a friendly dog trainer who knows what he is talking about..... then please do yourself a favor and contact Tom! I am so excited to see my GS excel and for me to get the confidence I need to be good leader for him!

I’ve known and worked with Tom for over 20 years. Working with dogs and their owners is his true passion. He truly does an amazing job of not only training dogs but actually working with and teaching the owners to work with their dogs and become a true team that leads to years of an amazing handler/dog partnership. Tom’s level of experience, patience, and professionalism are second to none.
