We had a great stay at Fransted. Our site was very spacious. Easy to get to so many beautiful parks and trails in the area. Campground was so quiet and the layout was nice with the river. Restrooms were older but they were clean. We didn't have children with us but the playground and mini golf needed some work with weeds and up keep. Would definitely stay again if in the area.

Only a 3 star because the showers were buggy.. hadn't been swept for some time. I hesitated in writing this because wanted to compare with other wooded campgrounds in the area. All was bug free in other wooded campgrounds. The site was nice but didn’t look like alot of attention was paid in keeping mowing/weeding tidy. Location was perfect. Flower beds in front were unattended and not a great first impression..

I've never actually reviewed anything and don't tend to read them, as I like to form my own opinions about places, but I felt like I needed to read some and add my own review after staying here for 4 days.I tented for years and now have had a travel trailer for a few more. It's perfect except the shower is too small and doesn't have an edge to catch the water even if I could use it, so I always use the facility showers at the campgrounds I stay at. I've stayed at numerous campgrounds and although it was spacious, this is by far the WORST SHOWER situation I have used at any campground, ever! There were 4 showers, one was out of service, one was handicap accessible that needed a key to open, leaving two showers available. Both looked like they hadn't been cleaned in over a week. I purposefully took a mental notes in both showers of a few spots (dust, dead bugs, sand buildup, etc...) that should have been easily removed as part of a daily routine cleaning and left trash in the trashcan of one of the showers to see if it would still be there the next day. Next day... trash wasn't emptied, spots weren't touch in either shower and it got even worse. There was a drain in the dressing part of the shower that did not actually drain any water, so when you stepped out of the shower you stepped into a puddle of dirty, sandy brown water over an inch deep. One shower had command strip hooks that didn't feel like they would hold a towel and the other didn't have any, so the only pace to put anything was a very small, soaked, dirty bench. I'm not one that expects to ever be 100% clean when staying at a campground as dirty feet and dust are part of the appeal, but I still expect a semi-clean shower. I also agree with some of the prior comments about terrible grass overgrowth, no Wi-Fi and little to no monitoring in the evening hours.I would not recommend this campground. There are so many wonderful, friendly and CLEAN places to stay in that area, but this is not the one!

Our 10 year old son says not to post anything because we want Fransted to be a secret! This has been our second year visiting Fransted Family Campground (multiple times both years), and both our family and our friends love it. Just the right size to keep things quiet, but large enough to keep people busy if they want to be. The owners are very pleasant and helpful, the campground is tidy, and the stream is a lot of fun for the entire family (bring your tubes, especially if there's been a rainy summer like this one!). We've stayed in both W/E and full-hookup sites, waterfront and non-waterfront sites and all have been enjoyable. We have a hybrid camper, but the tent sites on the far side of the stream are tempting to come back and tent-camp! We enjoy the trail that leads out of the campground and along the stream, where it eventually meets up with the Gale River. The campground is just a mile or so from the Franconia Market and ice cream stand. Loads of hiking opportunities in the Notch. We've enjoyed the campground field for playing wiffle ball, basketball, and volleyball. The mini-golf course "greens" have gotten a bit lumpy over time, but we still enjoy the challenge with every visit! Thank you Fransted!

Absolute wonderful campground! I stayed here twice last summer and both times were great experiences!. The first time we got a standard tent site that was right next to a brook. We had quiet neighbors and everyone was respectful all night!. The staff/owners were very friendly and left our code and campsite location posted to the door of the office because we got to the campground late which was a life saver!. We had such a great experience we booked another weekend, But this time we opted for a premium tent site which costed alittle more but was much moreprivate away fromother campers and was amazing!. The place is dog friendly! We played horseshoes and there is a easy hiking trail that follows the river right next to the campground!. I will be back again this summer!.

We had an RV spot right on the brook, easy to get to but private. Electric and water hookups, big area just for us, on the water, picnic table and fire pit. Nice playing area, the kids loved it and hiking trails for every age into the forest. Close to many White Mountains attractions. Exactly the way we imagined an RV trip would be like. Laundry didn't really work, but we managed.

This campground was one of the greatest on our Roadtrip. Lucky us, we enjoyed our stay there on the riverside which was the best experience so far. Waking up in the morning with the sound of the river was just amazing. The store service was always super friendly and helpful. The fact, that you live in the white mountains with bears around you makes it even more special and exciting. So you should playing by the rules, if you want to feel safe out there. The only thing I was not totally happy is the restrooms. The restrooms could be more clean and should get a little upgrade. Since we’re from Europe I always miss a Toilette brush in Amerika.

This is my family's favorite campground. The sites are spacious, quiet, private, clean and have great views of the forest and stream. We love the hiking/biking trails on property, and location in Franconia--the natural surroundings are extraordinary and nearby towns have some great shops and eateries. The owners are kind, flexible and keep the property up beautifully.

I was a bit disappointed with our recent stay. Last visited in 2017. Returned for three days this year and not the same owners. My opinion, the CG overall is not being managed well and is showing neglect. Many seasonal campers that are not looking after their sites and they are becoming an eyesore. I had a sewer drain issue likely caused by an improper connection from a seasonal camp, (I was able to relocate to another site). So a thank you to the owner for that. The grass was very long when we arrived and no trimming done for a long while. The one garbage dumpster was overflowing onto the ground on Sunday. It’s just not as attractive a campground as I remember. The bathrooms we dingy looking though the shower stalls looked good, but I didn’t use. The Wi-Fi could only be used around the office are. A great location near Franconia Notch. Really nice tent sites along the stream. I won’t return to this CG.

Beautiful place to camp with a brook flowing through it and a nice big field that gives you an open sky to stargaze. We stayed at site 6 which had a wooden platform, made it easy to set up our tent on it. No noise disturbances at night, quiet hours are well followed. And the host was very friendly and accommodating too. The bathrooms were clean and well maintained. Will definitely visit again.

Quaint campground close to Franconia Notch State Park and restaurants to the north. Has everything you could really need in a quiet, rustic setting. The tent camping sites along the stream are beautiful!! The owners seem to take a lot of abuse on here for enforcing the quiet hours, but we LOVE that. Nothing worse than being kept up all night by obnoxious, self-centered people. Thank you!!!

We stayed here over 2023 Memorial Day weekend with plans on hiking some of the peaks in Franconia Notch. The location was great (10 minutes to essentially all trailheads), the facilities were great (showers had good pressure and temp, were in their own little lockable room, and the bathrooms were also clean and modern), and the babble of the brook made for the perfect white noise to sleep. Would definitely stay here again if visiting the area. Thanks for all the hospitality!

Was our first time at Fransted family campground, we are from Quebec and our first impression was wow very nice. Courteous reception, easy acces to the campsite via a code to open the gate. Sites are very well set up and clean. Showers are mkept clean and no lack of hot water. Nice little creek river passing thru the campsite. All & all, i recommend staying at this camping.

This is a quaint family campground with a few extended campers. Most sites appear very spacious. The facilities are clean and well maintained. It is center ally located to all that Franconia Notch State Park has to offer! The playground, basketball court and field are close to the RV campers and kiddos run, play and ride at all hours of the day. Campers are respectful of the quiet hours and the staff is friendly and efficient in meeting campers needs. The river that runs behind has created a nice and peaceful flow of a lazy river that all enjoyed.Only bummers is having to pay $2 for a club for mini golf and the mini golf course could use some blowing off of debris from trees.

This is an almost perfect campground! Very friendly and accommodating owners. Very quiet and respectful at night. Camp sites are spacious and clean.(wood chips where a major plus) Absolutely dog friendly. Camp store was well stocked and convenient. The creek running through the tent area is absolutely beautiful and provided the best sleep aid at night. My only major critique is the bathrooms. While they where always stocked and clean, I felt like they where really small for the camp. 7 showers for 50+ camp sites can be rough around peak times. If the bathrooms where modernized, I feel like this camp would be a major competition to the state parks in the area. Other minor complaints such as the traditional fire pits are very inconvenient for cooking and the washroom was rather unreliable for us.Overall we really did love this camp site and would not hesitate to recommend it or come back again ourselves!

Great place to pitch a tent or hook up an RV! Lots of stuff for the kids to do, including a river they can tube down. Spacious enough sites for the adults to have fun too. Definitely suggest a site along the river if you can get it - the sound of the stream will make you sleep like a baby. Good location - very close to all of the "Notch" attractions, within site of Cannon Mt, with a couple nearby small towns with restaurants and shops. Owners seem nice - years ago I stayed there and they were kind of over the top about the quiet hours, but very personable owners now who seem to go the extra mile.

I've never stayed at Fransted, but I plan to in a few weeks. After looking at the few One Star reviews, and the Owners' detailed and specific responses, I feel like I should apologize for the human race in the 21st century.Having tent camped most of my life, and now in an RV, I have experienced a lot of what these Owners have been exposed too: totally mindless and inconsiderate campers who have no concept of excessive noise, beligerent children, ignorance of posted campground policies, and just generally indecent behavior. We now live in a world of the entitled.Very unfortunate.

Very nice and quiet campground. Only a 5 minute drive to Franconia and Echo Lake. The showers were good, but they should install locks on the stalls in the bathroom.

Stayed a long weekend at this campground, most of the RV sites are in a field right when you go in which was the only downfall of the stay. There is absolutely no shade on almost any site which made for hot days with kids. There are a couple RV sites along the wood line that we will try next year that look perfect. On the plus side all the RV sites are gravel and flat, I didn’t even need any leveling devices. The owners are very nice and the store has essentials. The tent sites are large and flat. There is a decent mini golf and a playground. The river was great for tubing for the kids, but there is no real spot to actually swim. It’s great to cool off but if you want to swim you’ll need to find a nearby lake. Overall it was a good place we will be returning to.

Good stuff first. Owners very sweet, bathrooms kept clean...its the White Mountains so beautiful drive from anywhere. Not so great. No grills for pretty small fire pits.$5 per person for a not so great mini golf course.Camp store only open 1-8, and not even that late. They don't keep a lot of ice. However when we did call to get firewood and ice, owner came down to sell just the wood. there was no ice. When some did come in they delivered 2 (out of 3 we wanted) to our site, which was nice of them. Thinking they are new at this and getting kinks out. Lovely location for tents. Rvs were super close together.

This campground came highly recommended, but no awareness that the ownership had changed. Overall the new owners were very nice, but wish some items were communicated earlier. For example:- WiFi - there is none- price of firewood went up to $7.50 a bundle. Signs in the bathrooms stated different costs- at least one of the bathroom stalls in both bathrooms were down most of the time we were there- the bathroom had a flashing red light all nightI am not looking to complain, just wish there was more communication surrounding changes prior our visit to ensure clear expectations. We ended leaving a day early.

We stayed at this campground over Memorial Day weekend, and had a great time. The campground was well-maintained, all the facilities were in great shape and convenient, and even though there were a lot of people at the campground, it was still quiet at night. The camp store also had a lot of helpful items. The location was very convenient for getting to Franconia State Park and all sorts of hiking early in the morning.

This campground has some amazing sites in the woods by a small river that you can tube down. The sites in the woods have water and electric but no sewer. The bathhouses are very clean and fairly new. We stayed in an open semi tree area for big rigs with full hookups. The sites around us had several seasonal campers. These sites in the open area are small not much privacy. There is no pool and a small playground. They just finished building a beautiful pavilion for large gatherings. A suggestion would be to plant some trees in the open area and or add a border of shrubs between each campsite. The entrance sign was hidden behind some bushes maybe move to an open spot. The area around here is amazing and beautiful worth the drive up.
