This place is a secret wonderful little camping beach on the shores of Lake Umbagog on the border of Northern New Hampshire and Maine. I'M GOING TO BE IN TROUBLE FOR WRITING THIS REVIEW! -- No kidding! Multiple people came up to me and asked me NOT to write a review and NOT to submit photos. The want to KEEP THE SECRET!But seriously, the staff here do such a great job and they are so nice! Facilities are very modern for showers etc, yet, the park office is still situated in a really rustic old cabin. This small beach state park is a really wonderful place if you like a clean swimming beach, warm shallow waters and beautiful sunsets every night! The place has limited number of sites, so you need to get your site reservation early. Also -- for the more adventurous, the park offers many rustic island sites that can only be reached by boat. There is also a state marina next door.

One of the nicest parks out of the 12 we have visited this summer so far. Site 10 is perfect, right behind the beach, easy to get the kayak out to the water and it has hook ups. Showers were only 50c and were new. Also had reasonable washers and dryers which was clutch. I ran on the road which felt like my only option. Early in the morning, I didn't encounter a lot of traffic

It's just another perfect fall day! Embracing autumn vibes in northern New Hampshire from the Magalloway River in Errol 🍂 Beautiful spot to explore and get away from it all. Nearby there are lovely roads for a scenic drive and pristine waters for a relaxing kayak adventure.

Great park! Very friendly and helpful park staff. My site (R04) was great and had a fire ring + grill grate, picnic table, tent platform and pit toilet. Listening to the loons as I fell asleep was wonderful. Beautiful views and plenty of stars to see on a clear night. I can't wait to go back!

Love this place! The lake is one of our favorites. The campground is great to for a small campground. The sites are fairly roomy and some aren't to close to others. The lil beach is nice, the tiny gift shop and bathrooms are decent too. The staff has always been good and helpful. The boat launch is small and kinda tricky getting in and out, but the public launch is close. They have rentable boat slips for cheap too. The remote islands sites are awesome too. Come with picnic table, fireplace/cooker, and even outhouses. And cannot beat the price! Good place, we will be back for sure.

Lovely spot in way-northern New Hampshire on this beautiful spot. Staff are all friendly and helpful. New showers and bathrooms. Look at the remote sites as they looked lovely. We will be back for one of those for sure. If you are boating, make sure to check out the two rivers: Magalloway or Androssogin.

Such an amazing place to go camping! There are remote sites around the lake that are boat access only, very private and quiet. This year I stayed at a site near the Rapid River and it was beautiful! I paid to get ferried out with all my stuff since it would have been a 4-5hr canoe ride from the main campground and sometimes it's pretty windy.

Beautiful scenery and friendly park staff. I highly recommend a remote site (accessed by boat), over the main campground sites. Out there you will have very few or no interruptions from anyone, save for the few fishing boats that will pass by. (We stayed at site R33)I wasn't able to experience some of the legendary small mouth fishing that the lake is known for, between rain and boat issues we had little time out there. Water level was down 4ft and apparently we weren't the only ones to find some new rocks! The views and solitude were enough to warrant a return trip in the future in hopes of better weather and chances to experience more of the lake.

Amazing remote campsites, very friendly staff, well-maintained. A gem hidden in the north woods. The main camp building has camp essentials and souvenirs along with $6 firewood bundles and bags of ice for sale. The restroom facility is very clean and has air conditioning. This is the annual trip I go on with my friends and we always look forward to this trip.

Serene. While traveling between mountains of 2 states this is a nice gem to stop at for a rest. Camping nearby I saw. People fishing kayaking and boating but low key wasn't crowded or anything like that. 👍

Unbagog state park is a great place to camp and experience nature. I have camped at many of the remote sites with friends and family. The sites are all very different but most have tent platform, primative toilet, canoe launch, and picnic table. Many sites have slightly swampy swimming and I have gotten a leach once swimming beware. I have personally rescued people on the lake on flipped watercraft. Weather can change much faster than you can paddle back to the campsite when your this far north. I would recommend caution and recognize your limits when exploring this lake. The shuttle service will bring you and your gear to a campsite great for anyone who needs a little help getting to the remote campsites. The mainland campground has a great new large shower/bathroom for less adventurous campers.

Excellent time was had! We had a moose come right by our campsite twice in one day, and hang out in the lake for about an hour! Much loon activity too!

Umbagog Lake State Park offers a wonderful wilderness camping and kayaking experience. From the park's website: "The park includes a base park campground with 27 sites with electrical and water hook-ups available, 2 cabins, 33 remote campsites and 4 remote cabins in isolated locations around Umbagog Lake accessible only by boat." The sites are generally small but well cared for. And you can't beat the modern bath house with separated toilet, shower, laundry, and hot water diswashing stations. The staff is especially friendly, attentive, and helpful. The lake is full of spectacular views around each turn. Despite the rain, this was the best camping experience I have had in any park! It's too bad that I will have to stay somewhere else to paddle the northern end of the lake.

My favorite place to stay in New Hampshire. It's small but quite, peaceful and clean. It's on the rustic side , but that's what I like. The people here are friendly and very helpful

Excellent staff. Very clean restrooms/pay showers. Sites are all very nice. Lake is beautiful. Sites 1A-1D state they will accept 35-40’ RV, but should not accept any that large. The sites are not even 40’ long and tow vehicles end up being parked in the roadway blocking views of lake for others. Sites 3&4 near the lake should be repositioned so they are not like a parking lot. Bring extra long water hose and electrical cord because some of utilities are in funky positions on the sites. Kayak/canoe rental $15/1 hr; $30/4 hrs, way too expensive. Best if you can bring your own. Showers clean and hot could use a long-handled squeegee because water seems to pool right where you have to change. We will bring a small hand squeegee next time. Bonus, saw Bald Eagle on two mornings. Nearby hiking and scenic waterfalls in Grafton and Dixville Notches and scenic drives.

Peace, tranquility, and amazing scenery. The staff at the state park campground were very friendly and had a thorough knowledge of the lake. The remote camp sites are very well maintained and are very far apart leaving a great sense of privacy and seclusion.

We stopped by on our way back south to Glen after a morning of ATV riding up in Pittsburgh. We rented two canoes for a half day rate so we could get a few hours of fishing in before dark. Nice calm lake, not crowded on a late Tuesday afternoon so the boat wakes weren't ruining our peaceful fishing experience. Landed a few smallies and a pickerel. Nice staff. The office is in the campground area so don't try to find it at the public dock which is the first place you pass when driving south.

Great remote camping! The staff is always friendly. The lake is beautiful and one of the last quiet lakes left in New England. Some motor traffic but not overwhelming. Lots of loons!
