Goldenrod Restaurant was recommended to us by the manager of the campground we were staying at. She said the seafood was the "freshest around." Well, she wasn't lying. We ordered the fried haddock plate with ff and the whole bellies plate ($27.99)with onion rings ($1 extra). Portions were generous and perfectly prepared. I had to take 1/2 of mine home because it was just too much. The onion rings are hand-cut and hand-battered and were just delicious! We didn't have room on this visit to try one of their 37 flavors of ice cream, but we will go back before we leave this area. You can eat outside at one of several tables or eat in the basic dining area at tables or booths. Nothing fancy, but the food is really good!

Why can't a medium cone with 2 scoops be 2 different flavors? Why don't you say what the flavors are? The menu board was falling apart. The dozens of 80+ people I saw bullying the young staff didn't seem to mind but I did. There's so many better places within 10 minutes that do the same thing. Ice cream was fine but my cookie dough had 7 pieces of dough in it. Honestly really disappointed will definitely not be returning.

Take out Sunday! The in-laws wanted fried clams and fried scallops so we called in for take out. 2 clam rolls, a scallop roll and an onion rings, Greek salad with chicken and of course a coffee frappe. All the food was good as expected hand cut hand battered onion rings portions were just right coleslaw is moms favorite the Greek salad was full of veggies and a good portion of chicken a little light on the feta. Overall a good meal.

We went for an afternoon treat. Portion sizes for ice cream are insane. Prices were reasonable. We all got smalls and they were packed, overflowing. We tried 5 different flavors, they were all good. A couple were a bit icy, not sure if they are less popular and spend more time in the freezer or it’s because of the add ins (cookie dough,etc.) Overall everyone was pleased. Would like to visit for lunch/dinner sometime.

First time here and of course I had to get the lobster roll, my kids got a grilled cheese and chicken strips. The loved the lobster roll and fries! This place has my favorite fries! Just need some fry sauce! Everything was cooked fresh to order. Inside is a little older, but that doesn't matter when there's great food. Definitely will be my new go to spot for lunch. There is an extra charge when using a card, I did not like that. So bring cash when you come here.

Great place to get some fried seafood delicacies! I had the clam belly plate and was happy as a clam with my food! Pun intended of course 😁 We also had some ice cream for dessert which was also very god, chocolate with peanut butter swirl! It seems a bit pricey but the food and staff all make it worth the price so stop in and get some food food.

Classic local counter service with burgers, fried seafood and more. Popular stop for ice cream and outdoor window service. It can get busy and food made to order, so not fast food. I enjoyed a lobster roll, nicely toasted buttered hot dog bun and the mayo and lobster was fresh and sweet. While I recommend the lobster roll, it was small, but the price was balanced to match. Fries seemed battered and crispy. Cole slaw was chopped fine, almost pureed, very wet and under seasoned in a small lidded cup i would expect to see a side sauce served in. Fountain drink cups are perhaps 12 oz and small, however refilling is an option. Overall it was a blast from the past and worth the visit.

Kids loved the hamburgers & spaghetti. The lobster roll was nice (I’ve only had them hot, so the cold one was a pleasant, refreshing surprise). The half and half plate was tasty with chicken and scallops. The 50’s diner feel is spot on; not too kitschy like others 50’s-themed places. Seems like a pretty regularly frequented locals joint. Kind service, tasty food and felt like the small town Northeast place we were looking for. But the ultimate was the KIDS PORTION of ice cream!!! HUGE!

First time eating here and I am regretting not knowing about this place years ago. When arriving it looked like an awesome drive in ice cream stand with a decent menu on display. I ordered the highly recommended Seafood Plate that consisted of Haddock, Shrimp and Clams w/belly that comes with fries and coleslaw. Very decent market price. I then went inside to sit for the temp was hot today. The inside had quite a few tables with things hung on the walls that made it look like a cozy diner and very was busy. It took no time at all to receive my order maybe 10 minutes at most and OMG the plate was just overflowing with golden brown seafood that weighed about 4 pounds. I could not wait to start eating this thing. I bit into my first scallop and first off they were huge and perfectly cooked and so sweet. The Haddock was nice and flaky and moist and the shrimp was huge and butterflied. I do not like clam bellies so went with extra shrimp. Everything was so amazing tasting and so much food for the price. If you are in the area or is definitely worth a travel it is a must stop and eat. Highly highly recommended

Here's the scoop! Best Shrimp Plate and Chicken Tender Plate around! Good portion! Reasonably priced! Light and crisp! Drawn butter for shrimp and sweet sauce for tenders! Coleslaw was delicious as well! Fries were CRISPY good without being overcooked!!The place has been revamped inside since I've been there! Soon to return!

Chicken tenders are delicious they do a nice job with their special dipping sauce. For a smaller place they have a nice menu with good variety of hot food menu items from burgers, dogs and seafood. The ice cream is great and the portions are huge. They have a nice selection of flavors. I wish they would have allowed 2 flavor options in a small serving with that many options it’s hard to just pick one. They are very strict on that rule.

"Disappointing Dining Experience"I recently visited this establishment and while the service was excellent, I can't overlook the severe issues with the food quality. Unfortunately, the poor quality of ingredients, including the use of rancid cooking oils instead of organic options, led to an unpleasant dining experience that left me feeling unwell. It's disheartening when great service is overshadowed by subpar food choices.

Worse experience. Been coming here for 20+ years. Chicken tnders tasted like they were store bought frozen. These are definately different.The price went up 3.00, less onion rings and chicken. Food was cold. Also price adjustment again starting september 1st.

Went again today. Another lobster roll, just the right size! Hotdog bun was nicely toasted. The clams were excellent, fried to perfection. The half gallon icecreams are inside, we brought home a black rasp every and it was excellent. Actually tasted like fruit!Ordered outside, ate inside.Great prices, food was awesome. Try the lobster roll...perfect! Clean tables, counters and restrooms. Suggestion: hand out plasticware with the meal so I don't have to worry that someone touched it.Features: Tables, chairs and counters were cleaned constantly.

Fish was good, but if I pay 72 dollars for four people to eat I'd like metal silverware. It kinda gives off a Hampton beach vibe but it can't justify it (giving that it is 40 miles away). Fries were not very salty which is something I wish more restaurants would do.

After waiting 30 minutes on hold to place our Christmas order the person hangs up ! After calling back and waiting on hold again, she informs me they are no longer taking x- mas orders even though the paper they just handed me says to order 72 hours in advance which I did!!! Then I find out my friend was able to place her order the same day !Food is great, but don't recommend holiday ordering at this establishment! They obviously lied on their holiday menu time line, now wasting my time trying to find anotherplace.
