It took a while to get here but then again I did order it when the pandemic was still affecting shipping. I saw other comments having issues with the owner but I had a good experience with him. He was very helpful with the questions I asked him. For those who have complained about the long wait you must understand that this isn't Amazon and patience goes a long way. He's only one guy after all he doesn't have anyone else.

Very unsatisfactory service which I can’t understand and I have been a customer for 20 years and ordered many flintlocks from Pete & Wendy over the years. Never had a problem until this last order placed in 2020 for purchase #4482 LEFKOWITZI have reached out several times with emails and texts only to get rude messages back from Pete the ownerNothing has been delivered nor have I received my money back from this 1200 order and I paid it in full in 2020.All I want are the weapons.I can’t understand why it’s taken so long to receive and it’s really frustrating and sad that I have to write a comment like this and post 1 star because the customer service here sucks so badly.

Zero stars. Business fraud, deceitful, dishonest, theft: doesn't return items that he refuses to do pre-paid repair work in spite of multiple requests to do so. Avoid this company. Time for legal action against the owner. Loyalist Arms sells the same products.

I waited 2 years and 1 month to receive the 1756 British Sea Service Pistol that I ordered as a gift for my brother. I checked the waiting list every few months to see if it was slowly moving forward - then one day it just arrived.The pistol is STUNNINGLY BEAUTIFUL, and my brother is extremely impressed with it. The picture of it on the Middlesex Trading website does not fully complement its high quality.I agree that this business is not for everyone. Middlesex Trading is not an Amazon style, get it delivered in a day or two with unlimited tracking and updates. The people that are critical probably have some legitimate complaints and Peter can be short and curt in his communication. But whom else is taking-on the challenge of this type of niche business and selling this type of unique product, and SO inexpensively? And his website is pretty clear about not being able to provide order ETAs.My job partially involves international shipping. I am quite aware of the massive delays that have been dragging-on for over two years now. I receive regular reports from my shipping reps and it has been and continues to be nothing but doom and gloom. Lastly, I know that labor throughout the world has been a huge issue during and since Covid. I would assume that both the manufacturer and Middlesex Trading have been struggling to keep up with their labor demands. I do not know of one company with employees that is not. I think it is fair to cut Peter some slack.I chose to see my purchase as a long-term investment to eventually receive this beautiful item. The process of being fabricated in India then slowly shipped to a small gun shop in the eastern United States where it would be dismantled and crafted into a functional, black powder pistol just adds to the historical roots of this firearms. It certainly makes my brother appreciate his gift all the more knowing these details.Or I could have just bought him a very realistic toy gun on Amazon…

This guy should not be in business. I ordered a sling for my Brown Bess, and 2 cases for it on July 1, 2023.I received an email stating that he had received my order, and thanking me for it.The last line in the email states, "Please reply to this email if you have any questions". So I did.On July 10 I sent an email asking if he had made any progress on my order. He responded, "Like it says on the website, we don't send out status reports or updates. The only thing that gets sent out is a tracking number from either UPS or USPS when your order ships.Thanks,Pete".OK, fair enough, maybe I was being a little hasty, but my card had been charged and I wanted to know the status of the order.On July 29 I tried again. "My card was charged 26 days ago. I am beginning to think that I have been scammed. What would you expect of a merchant at this point?"He responded, "If you are so impatient that you can't wait your turn and have sent me multiple emails about your sling and a musket case, I'm just going to cancel and refund your order in the morning when I open the shop.Sorry but the world does not revolve around you.Pete"To his credit he did indeed refund my CC, but why the hostility? The multiple emails he referred to is a grand total of 2.I have since found, ordered, and received the products from polite and reputable merchants.If you order from Pete I wish you luck.I wish there was a zero star option.

This guy gets a lot of well-deserved bad reviews. However, it's important to realize that this old man is mentally ill. He's clearly suffering from some kind of narcissistic personality disorder and can be very verbally abusive. I feel pity for him, and I hope he finds peace.The unreasonable long wait time, the verbal abuse, and the pontificating condescending way he deals with his customers are not even the worst part. The worst part is when you finally get your product, it is a mediocre, poorly crafted Indian Repro. Indian reproductions are fine but absolutely not worth it when buying from this company. This guy could give these things away, and I wouldn't take it from him.

Ordered a double barrel percussion pistol Feb 2019. Was aware wait time was at least 8 weeks or much longer. By much longer most people would I think would assume 3X, 5X, maybe even 10 times that long. I never thought after 3 years and 6 month, I would still be number 32 on the list. I was somewhere in the 30'p in July of 2021. Gun has been listed as "in shop, ready to prep" since July 2020. Now build list says there is a hold on all double guns due to manufacturer, but my gun has supposedly been in the shop since 2020. Still on the build list it says, hold on all doubles. I sent an email asking how long it was on hold, but got no answer. A week later I sent another email requesting to cancel my order minus the 20% cancellation fee that he charges. Got no answer and that was a week ago. They have an unlisted phone number so not sure what else I can do other than wait indefinitely hoping someday I get my money back or my gun.***update, 8-2-22, recieved refund check in the mail minus 20 percent cancellation fee.***

Ordered a pistol on November 7th, 2019 as a gift for my brother. On January 19, 2021 my brother passed away. On January 12, 2022 accessed the website to determine the status of my order. Website stated "Your order is not built yet." Requested a refund minus the 20% fee. No response. On March 1st, sent return receipt requested letter which was received. Still no response. Do not do business with this company unless you are within driving distance. If you are from out of state they will ignore requests for refunds.

This company is a joke. They will allow you to make an online order and payment. But then they never return e-mails or calls. Someone needs to shut them down. PS. They are not "making/building" their own guns. They buy them pakistan and do a little extra clean up/refinish on them.

after two years he still couldnt produce a product. One year of the time it supposedly was in the shop "ready to prep" His refund is theft and includes a shipping fee when nothing was shipped. He has nothing in his contract to protect anyone other than himself. I doubt anyone has recently received their purchase.

Been over a year, yet no change. The order list says New England Fowlers are being made at an slow paste beyond his control. I read reviews that are close to a decade old and they are positive reviews, but the more recent ones are not. The old man has far too much on his plate and should be more aggressive on the manufacturers in India. If he can’t, then the old-timer should put the tools down and close up shop. Time for retirement. This is ridiculous.

Very slow service,very poor customer respect, Stated that covid was a hoax then caught it and blames the delays on it, make up your mind. Says covid has interfered with production of guns from supplier, but I purchased a gun from another dealer which I ordered after ordering from Middlessex and got it 9 months later. Spends more time arguing and condemning customers than working on guns. I was told by older guys in group he was the best, years ago maybe.

What a fantastic business! I have nothing but good things to say....- MVTC products are well known in the reenacting community. Their quality pieces and will withstand the wear and tear of time.- I've never had an issue with their guns...ever! Works like a charm, every single time.- They hold true to their warranties. Their repairs are quick because Pete and their staff know their stuff!- Their knowledge of reproduction pieces has come in handy in resolving minor user issues.- Finally, they have super customer service! I wish I could say I agreed with other reviewers. Communication was awful. They charged my credit card and then NO communication for 30 days despite several attempts on my end. When I cancelled the credit card payment, they accused me of theft. DO NOT do business with these people.

With import products the integrity of the importer / seller is what matters the most. They are the "Quality Control" between mnfg. and customer. With Middlesex Village Trading Co. you can trust and believe your visual inspection and their descriptions and provenance in particular when purchase is for a particular Historical impression and time period. Their selection is broad and eclectic as well as mainstream. I believe the fact that they are still in oporation after 20yrs. speaks volumes about their service and the quality of their products. I have been mining the motherload of Blackpowder and Muzzleloading since before 1976 so I hope you will believe my recommendation. You won't regret it. P.S. They are Good People.
