This is my go-to place for lumber and hardware. Lumber is highest quality you will find and competitively priced with the big-box stores that shall remain unnamed. If you have not been here before, you may find it difficult to navigate the lumberyard, but you should not hesitate to ask for help. Everybody who works there is knowledgeable and more than happy to help.Tip: If you plan to shop here very often, talk to them about setting up a credit or cash account, which will provide a discount on many materials.

This place has often not always had rude, unhelpful salespeoplein the lumber department. If you are not a contractor they treat youyou accordingly with disrespect. Now it has become a place whereyou are price gouged. I recently purchased a fir 4X4X8. The pricewas $32.00. It seemed way high to me but it was closing time anda weekend where I needed the piece for a project. I later checkedaround and Home Depot had the same item for $16.00. I checked other retailers and none were even within $10.00 of the Ashland Lumber price. Now I usually expect to pay a bit more than the big box but not double. So:I would say if you are not a contractor don't buy lumber at ASHLANDLUMBER.

The person behind the counter was rude and it seemed like i was bothering him. Also I paid $31.00 for 1 4x4x8 doug fur ,couldn't believe it. Went to Lowe's got the same and in better condition for $15.00.

I used Belletetes to do new granite countertops in my home. Sam was fantastic. Great service and constant communications -- AND everything happened when he said it would. The counters look great, Sam is absolutely the best!

All of the employees are quite friendly, and helpful. They also carry a fantastic selection of items that are either not available at Home Depot and Lowe's or take a lot longer to find.And unlike those big stores, there is just quiet background music - No obnoxious constant loud PA announcements for employees to do things! I always hate that at Home Depot because I lose my train of thought every time I hear the PA announcements squawking every 10 seconds (Why do they do that?) At Ashland Lumber they let you shop in peace. I appreciate that so much.

Ordered a bunch of stockade fencing... When it arrived they laid it on the ground and as I got home to pick up the heavy pieces I noticed that every single piece was loaded with mold... I called to let them know that I was not happy with the quality and was told that I could come and pick out my own stuff after being there the day before paying in cash for this their solution was for me to come pick out my own instead of just having decent people working there knowing that nobody wants to pay for moldy wood... When I went to get my money back I then overheard other people talking about me because I complained about it totally unprofessional... Maybe it's time to have a meeting with your staff about what's considered professionalism and what isn't certainly talking about customers isn't considered professional..

Very disappointed, went to return an item and was told "I can not return this item cause it is discontinued"! No place in the store was this posted. Well, Lowes and Home Depot are a little further, but I won't be going back to Ashland Lumber.

Ashland Lumber has a great selection of tools, lumber, windows and doors, and everything else you'd expect from a hardware store. The prices are slightly higher than the big box stores, but I'd rather pay an extra few percent, support a local business and not have to drive to Tilton. If you do place a custom order, be sure to call and check in by the date it is supposed to arrive. Mine was forgotten about and i only received it after following up a few times.

Seems that each time I either call orvisit this store I get the feeling that I ambothering them.The employees don't seem to care about helping customers!Ashland Lumber is the only major lumber store in the area and they have gotten very cozy and complacent, that could change if a major competitor decides to move into the area.

Absolutely rude service from Don on several occasions. His refusal to help and personal grudges hinder the experience here. Examples include:frustration when customer asks for delivery timelineLying about in-stock items (travel 20 minutes to see none available)Attitude in conversation regarding concrete ordersThis place COULD be good, just fire Don and I’ll gladly add another 3 stars at minimum.See Mad Max’s review as well. We had ordered windows from Ashland Lumber. We were given a 3 week turn around time, which we were fine with. The end of that 3 weeks was about two weeks ago. They finally called us today, and said that the windows would be here with in the hour... That was well over 2 hours ago. I finally got someone on the phone who did something, yet, the windows are still not here. Ashland Lumber has lost our business in future purchases.

Welp, I am now a life long customer! While visiting over new years, we had some heating issues at our house. I balled out and bought a $90 space heater hoping to nip the issue in the bud once and for all, even though I would be flying back to Philadelphia the next day. I returned home ready to make the house warm and toasty, plugged the space heater in and OOOF! it never even turned on (Not Ashland Lumber's fault). By the time I could get back to the store to return it, it was New Years Day and I had a flight to catch. Ashland Lumber was obviously closed, so I threw up a hail mary. I left the mangled box with the space heater and a note with my contact information in front of the store in -3° tempuratures, pleading they accept my return. After a day with no word, I figured it was $90 down the drain. BUT the next day, the trusty ole Ashland Lumber gave me a friendly call and removed the charge from my statement. THANK YOU ASHLAND LUMBER! It's not often you receive customer service like that!
