Boarded 2 dogs and a cat here for a week long vacation. Came back to one dog acting anxious, and the other one had lost quite a bit of weight. He always ate his food without issues, but when he came home, he would eat a bite or two before acting frightened and refusing to eat anymore. After many attempts over almost 2 years to rectify this, he started to eat normally. The cat was also affected negatively. There is quite a bit more that I could disclose but this review would become too lengthy.Just suffice to say that we would never take any pets there again and will never recommend this business to anyone elae!

Our pup stayed here for a weekend, no issues whatsoever.Pros:Online registration made drop off seamless.Very friendly folks made the experience less stressful for us and our dog.Cons:The website they ask you to use to register could use a facelift. There's no options to pay with credit/bank card or digital payments. Bring cash or your checkbook, or you'll be making a trip to Alton circle.Overall, we'll be back if we ever need it again.

Let me just say that our six year old Harley is spoiled and she has never been to another boarding facility since she’s been born. We have had the comfort if we needed to board that she would Just go to where she was born but they have downsized and with school vacation and our getaway was last minute they couldn’t take herLet me just say my anxiety was through the roof with the thought of leaving her with someone else. Debbie and Chris were gracious enough to let me bring her for the day so she could get used to the facility and two days later I brought her for a five night stay. Chris was very caring and thoughtful as I was a blubbering fool when I dropped Harley for just daycare.I had a really great experience with bed and biscuit and look forward to bringing Harley to play with her new friends again

When I dropped off my dog, the lady who greeted me at the desk was civil. She took the dog and he seemed totally fine, going outside with her to get used to the property. Three days later, I picked him up, she asked me which one was my dog, which I found pretty unprofessional. She said my dog barked the entire time. She mentioned something to me about having a German Shepard there that "really goes for it" I'm not sure what that meant, but it sounded like aggressive behavior to me.She said my dog must have anxiety, which he does not have. She said she changed his room a few times but nothing made him stop barking. She said it was air conditioned in the rooms so he should have been fine.I wanted to ask how frequently he was let out to play or exercise, or have human contact, or if he was just moved from room to room. Then she said she would not accommodate my dog again, as if I would give her the chance!I was pretty shocked and upset to hear he had such a terrible time, I didn't say anything. I couldn't wait to get get him out of there. I brought enough food for him for a week, and even though he was only there for three days, she didn't return any of the leftover food, which was also pretty unprofessional. No other boarders we've used have ever complained about our dog. In fact, we use the same two places regularly and they both know and love our dog. They send us pictures of him during his stay and he is usually playing outside and having a great time. I only chose this place, because it was only a couple of days and so close to the location I was staying. Our dog was joining us on vacation after the weekend. To top it off, she never called me to say he was having problems. I was staying in the next town over. I would have come got him in a minute if I had known he was having a problem. When I picked him up, it smelled like bleach in the drop off area which was pretty overwhelming.I noticed my dog had been given a bath too. At first I thought that was nice, then I thought maybe he was covered in drool or something from other dogs. We had booked him his own room so I'm not sure if that is what we got or if he was just lumped in with other dogs, like the German Shepard who "really goes for it."Anyway, the price is really cheap-$25 per night, but you get what you pay for.I would not recommend this boarder because she made no attempt to even try to contact me to say my dog was experiencing distress.

Warm, loving experienced care! My dog has been going to Alton Bed and Biscuit for 2 1/2 years, since she was 4 months old. She goes twice per week for daycare (socialization, burn off some energy) and stays there when we are on vacations. The owners are professional and down to earth. They are willing to go the extra mile to make sure my Jack Russell mix is happy while keeping her out of the trouble she is so good at finding. I tried another place that is on my way to work but found that AB&B is worth travelling 10 minutes in the opposite direction for. I know my dog is safe and sound with them and if the need should arise (it hasn't yet) I will be contacted immediately. I also love that I can drop Willow off and arrange for her have a bath and or for her claws to trimmed up during the day. These people are the best!

Debbie and Chris are always so attentive. It is my pups second home! My schedule with work is tough and they work around their hours and life to accommodate me. 10/10 would recommend to anyone. Stellah comes home sleepy and ready to relax every single time :)

I've used the B&B twice with my Boxer and my grand puppy, I feel very comfortable taking my pets there. I live a further distance away now but continue to leave my Boxer and grand puppy there for boarding. He's so excited to see me when I return, but not happy about leaving his new friends or caregivers. The care is great, and the price is right.

We moved in from MI with four dogs (2 adults and 2 puppies) and needed a place to board our babies:) Firstly, I left many messages to see the availability for our vacation dates. It was difficult to reach someone live and to receive a return phone call. But, based on the reviews I thought we would board our four dogs with them. We brought our dogs in on a Thursday evening and we were boarding them until the following Wednesday morning. We called to check in on the dogs while we were on vacation and were told they needed to separate the adults from each other and the pups from each other. I did not have any issues with the separation as they were placed next to each other. I questioned why they waited until we called to inform us of the changes as there was also a change in price but didn't get an answer. Even after the conversation, I would have rated them 4 stars...BUT...things changed when we went to pick up the dogs. Upon our return to pick up the dogs, we were notified our puppies were no longer wanted at the kennel as they had anxiety! What???? Why didn't anyone call me and let me know they were having anxiety issues? This was a first I ever heard of it! I boarded all my dogs many times at the same kennel in MI, boarded them in MA and NH when we first moved here and not one person told me the puppies were an issue. Again, nobody ever called me and just blindsided me! They also added a "disclaimer" which didn't exist at time of making the appointment or dropping off the dogs which read: "We cannot board dogs with anxiety issues as they are disruptive to other dogs". How would I know if my puppies barked? Then to add to it, they told me I was able to board my two 11 year old dogs with them but needed to find someplace else for the puppies! REALLY????? You think I would board there ever again, let alone split up my dogs? So, we are going back to another kennel in NH. Gave this one a try and it wasn't worth it!

We boarded our golden retriever over memorial day weekend. Upon arrival, we were greeted by the owners- they showed us around and answered any questions we had (this was our first time using Alton B & B, and we do not board our dog often at all), and our dog seemed comfortable right away. At the last minute, we asked that they groom him if they had time, which they very nicely accomdated. We picked our dog up today and he was freshly groomed (nails, ears, wash, trim)- and he looks awesome! There was a difficult customer that was picking up his dog at the same time, but the girl at the counter (who also does the grooming) handled this customer professionally. The price was right, our dog was happy, and we will be using Alton Bed and Biscuit in the future.

Coming from Jersey City, I appreciated the space (indoor and out) that Alton B&B offers. And $25 per night is certainly better than the metro area. However, as I’ve read in several other reviews, communication is an issue. They have a cash- or check-only policy, which is suprising, given the age we live in and the fact that some customers are paying for multiple-night stays. However, be that as it may, it seems like they expect you to notice the written indication on their website and/or the one displayed in their office. For a somewhat uncommon policy like this, a verbal reminder should be given, or they should keep an ATM in their facility. (The nearest ATM is three miles away.) I was also surprised to learn that there is a $15 surcharge for afternoon pickups. I had been texting with Debbie in the morning about possible pickup times, and she never let me know about the $15 add-on. Again, this information is posted on their website, but not on the business cards I had been given. Also, I had included a bag of treats and rawhides in my dog’s bag, which were really intended for our further travels after her stay. However, they were all gone when I picked her up, which would have been a lot of treats for how long she was there. Maybe I should have specified how many she could have each day, but I feel like that’s something that shouldn’t necessarily need to be explained, or they should require that information upon check-in.

I have never used this boarding facility nor would I ever recommend it!! I live behind it and have to listen to dogs constantly barking, snarling, fighting and yipping for a good part of the days AND nights. It sometimes sounds like the are ripping each other apart. I have dogs of my own dogs who have been to training and are well behaved but due to all the commotion that goes on there my dogs are barking now in response to hers. I have no idea how many dogs she has there at one time but it’s clearly more than she can handle. I have also heard people out there screaming at the dogs to shut up. My guess that would be to keep from having the police come to her residence about all the noise which they have done. I know the neighbors have called multiple times as have I. I do not begrudge this woman a living but it should not be done at my expense or the expense of these poor animals in her care.

Never EVER have I experienced such an unprofessional and untrained staff member! My friend went away for the weekend and used me an an emergency contact. The dog is 14 and has bad arthritis in her back legs and has "dementia", meaning she is a vocal husky and yells when you pick her up- but only when she has trouble using her back legs. She goes to the vet regularly and is in great heath otherwise. The day she was dropped off, I received a phone call that evening that they want her picked up because "She keeps collapsing on her back legs and I feel bad for her." (verbatim) I had to find someone who would be able to take her at 6pm! They said they "couldn't accommodate her." A friend came with me to pick her up. We were mortified to see she was LAYING in her own cold urine on the floor! Prior to me moving here, I was a veterinary technician for 10 years and did boarding. My boss would have MURDERED me if a client ever came in and witnessed a pet laying in urine all day! I asked her if she had something to clean her up with- the girl looked at me blankly and said "like what?" Perhaps a towel with soap and water!? I said "You let her lay in her own urine all day?!" to which she responded "i tried to move her but she kept collapsing." Side note- the dog was a runt and weighs 37.7lbs according to her most recent vet exam 3 months ago. I told her you were aware she had severe arthritis and therefore she clearly CANT go in the elevated pet beds or walk around in the wooden floors! Common sense would have dictated to 1. keep her in the boarding room closest to the exit (which they did thankfully) 2. put a blanket or comforter on the floor for traction so she WONT keep collapsing 3. Don't give her an elevated pet bed that requires her to climb into! My friend and I were horrified to see such a lack of common sense and to be told "it just breaks my heart to see her collapse" is totally unprofessional... You are in the pet boarding business, which I was in for years and we would NEVER tell a client that. YOU ARE THE PROFESSIONAL! And then she said her health was "rapidly declining" throughout the day (meaning she fell on the pee and couldn't get up and was crying because there was no traction) My vet was wonderful enough to set up a pet bed in the clinic with a blanket on the floor for traction and she has been fine. As a side note when we put food and water down, she ate and drank like there was no tomorrow. I have heard people saying that this place has called them up while they were on vacation and requested them to pick up their dog because the dog was barking too much or some nonsense like that! plenty of people have also said that there pick up times are all over the place because there is a lack of communication between the staff and the clients. My friend confirmed twice that he would be able to pick up memorial day only to get a phone call saying that they would not be there memorial day... I could keep going on about how my friend and I were appalled at how much urine this dog had seeped into her fur and how the room stunk like urine and the hallway of the building...and I could also go on about how the dog walked IN limping and her pet records said she was almost 15 only to have them call myself and my friend and tell them we normally don't accommodate older dogs! I told the girl "who doesn't check the pets appearance upon arrival to determine FIRST if the pet is able to be accommodated!?" her response was "well who boards a 14 year old dog!?" My vet spent over 30 minutes after hours tonight helping me wash all the urine off her belly and legs!

We left our VERY loving, unaggressive, aging chihuahua...and VERY affectionate, unaggressive male cat with Bed & Biscuit. Neither of our boys had EVER been left behind.I was concerned that the sudden 8 night & 9 day “desertion” would change our boys. But Bed & Biscuit returned them back to us, just as they had been....positive & without fear.I’m grateful for the attention given to our boys. They came back displaying that they hadn’t been traumatized by the experience. And are (still) their affectionate, gregarious selves. THAT speaks louder then anything I could type.
