This is the definition of a Diner, has the mom and pop feel to it. The food isn’t the best quality but you can see that the cook makes the best of it. It taste great. Very cozy inside. The food was excellent, especially the bonzi burger. It was spicy but not overwhelming. The patty tasted like it was those you buy in bulk from Costco but it worked. The whole family ate and we had no complaints. Server was great and attentive.I would recommend this place to friends and family on a budget.Big plus is that they are across the street from a park where we take the kiddos to blow off some steam. That’s what we did before we showed up so they can actually sit still and eat some food.

The Red Hut Cafe was a perfect match, because we only had time for a quick sandwich before we were to hit the tables. My old pal Crazy Eight wanted to eat at the casino but I insisted on the Red Hut Cafe, and I'll tell you why....they make the best deli sandwiches in the area using only the freshest ingredients and locally sourced bread. It's always a treat to eat at the Red Hut! 5 stars ☆☆☆☆☆

Great cozy small space for breakfast or brunch or even lunch! Price is decent and pretty average cost. Toast was a little more plain but every thing else we ate was delicious!! Customer service was top notch!!! Definitely recommend visiting!! Staff went above and beyond and was very friendly!!! Definitely will be returning if visiting Tahoe again!!!

They may not have military discount but the food is well worth the price!!! I was intrigued by the peanut butter burger on the menu and it did not disappoint. The redhut sauce made it a unique burger and will definitely come back if we ever find ourselves in South Lake Tahoe again. Their chicken fried steak was also very good! And the service and atmosphere were very welcoming, must try if you're ever in town! Most places here overprice their food, but this place, I think they did good by me.

Great food (for the most part), great service, and great view of the mountains. This place may be right off the highway, but it is still in the forest. A bear came a little ways off while we were there.Took off one star because the waffles had no flavor. They have less flavor than eggos. Other than that, all the food was good.

Loved the story behind this cafe. Food was delicious and exactly what you expect from this type of location. I ordered the burger which was very juicy and flavorful. My husband ordered the steak and eggs which he also enjoyed. They were pretty full When we went but still were very attentive.

I love this place the food is good. The people the waitresses are very nice I come here every year when I come to Lake Tahoe for a good breakfast. You do have to go early because it does get packed. A lot of people go because it’s a good place. But they’re fast I didn’t have to wait too long.Parking: there’s a lot of parking but once it’s busy, it’s hard to find a parking space I didn’t have any troubleKid-friendliness: I recommend for family with kids it’s a big place it does get busy

Excellent breakfast. Massive quantities and delicious. Price was fair. Service was great. The French toast in the picture was the best I’ve ever had. Caked in real egg. You’ll love it

Waffle was so hard had to cut with steak knife. Chicken that came with the waffle was thrown back in the fryer after it became cold and served to my wife and I. This was our first time there. We really looked forward to it. But 40 dollars for two glasses of water, one orange juice, and two orders of hard waffles and over cooked chicken was disappointing.

Being raised in South Lake Tahoe, Red Hut Cafe was a regular staple for my husband. For years we would come up a several times and stop in to eat. We haven't stopped in in quite some time due to the wait time but this time we had some time so I decided to go ahead and wait and get our remembered food. However the quality has declined exponentially! I was shocked at how poor the quality and taste of the food was. We will not be going back, at least not to this location! Very very disappointed.

Adorable local diner. Food was comforting and delicious. Pictured is a half plate of chicken fried steak. I shared my plate and the waiter split the food in the kitchen - very nice! I will come back.

I've been coming here for decades. It's always good. The foods incredible the atmosphere is really fun. The service is hit or miss. This go around our waitress at the voice of a mouse I could barely hear her and asked her to repeat herself multiple times.I've only ever been for breakfast. Their biscuits and gravy are incredible. Last visit I got two eggs over medium with bacon their bacon is thick and served crispy. My wife got an omelet that unfortunately was left a little raw in the middle. She didn't eat the center but said it was a great omelet minus it was slightly undercooked. My daughter got the Mickey mouse pancakes and devoured them. I'll always be back.

I debated leaving this review, but I think it’s best to be honest and let others know. I tried to go here for breakfast last month but had such an uncomfortable experience. I am a person of color and went here with my friend who is African American. When we sat down to order breakfast, one of the employees—an older woman of European descent—began to clean the counter for us. We were in all smiles and really looking forward to breakfast. She asked us where we were from, so we told her we were from Los Angeles. The conversation was totally normal until she proceeded to tell us about some previous customers she could not believe were from Oakland, California. She described them as being “really, really, really Black,” implying that because of their skin color it was impossible for them to be from Oakland. Our mouths dropped. She said they were actually Kenyan and completed her embarrassing display of ignorance by stating, “They were beautiful, though.” We felt so uncomfortable and disappointed as we just wanted to have breakfast, but in less than a minute an employee saw our skin and thought a great conversation would involve talking about skin color and how “really Black” people could not be Californian, American, or whatever she meant. We immediately got up and left and told the manager who offered to comp our meals, but it was so disturbing we didn’t even bother. So, if you choose to come here and you’re a person of color, just keep in mind that at least one of the employees will seem to think you stand out so much in this area that they can’t help but talk about skin color or imply that non-white people can’t be from around there. Just FYI. I truly hope the manager talked to the employee and that the employee has reflected on why beginning those conversations in a business establishment (but really anywhere) is unprofessional, rude, and makes people of color very uncomfortable. I didn’t even notice that 99% of everyone in there was white until she made a point to remind us that we weren’t. Truly a “Get Out” moment.

Dishes were great! The pancakes went well with eggs and bacon. It's a very historic place and good spot for brunch before your day trip. The only drawback was the long line, taking over 45 minute wait.

This was the only restaurant that was open on Easter Sunday besides Starbucks. Very warm and nice people work there. Breakfast was good. We had ordered veggie sandwich and short stack pancake. Ambience was ok. The restaurant needs to bed but hygenic. Saw hair on salt and pepper bottle.
