This former Hard Rock Hotel has an inviting casino and a William Hill Sports Book inside the sports bar (one of the best sports books). They are remodeling rooms and rebranding the hotel decor, but I still love the concert posters and the 6 decades of music playing in the casino and hotel common areas, so hoping they don't mess that up. Room was clean but this is an old hotel and bathrooms are standard size for 1960s. My only real complaint is the lack of a mini fridge to store drinks and a few restaurant leftovers in the room. Should be standard outfitting with a small fridge these days. Staff is pleasant and helpful throughout!

When we arrived at the property the room smelled very musty and the bathroom was dirty. The front desk was very kind and switched our room to an upgraded room and took the resort fees off. Then when we were about to go to sleep we found out there is no AC in the room. So they offered us fans and told us to sleep with the window open. We would’ve been fine with that if that was mentioned in the listing. Since the listing was wrong, the hotel compensated us again for the inconvenience. After that, we didn’t want to complain anymore but we noticed the water temperature in the shower was uncontrollable. We had to take 1 minute showers or else the water temperature would change from normal to either scolding hot to freezing cold. Very unsafe when giving your toddler a shower.

For the price it's pretty good. Walking distance from the Heavenly gondola. Only things id knock are the climate control and shower. The climate control seemed to take a really really long time to heat the room. It took several hours to get it to 70 from 55 and it's not a big room. The shower curtain was also pretty raggedy and ripped up which made it difficult to stop all the water. Definitely needed a replacing for a while now. No fridge in the room also, so don't plan on having cold drinks or food.

Wow. Not a single redeeming quality to this place. It says it is newly renovated but it is grungy. Cigarette holes in everything. Staff was completely unfriendly. There for a long while and the cocktail waitresses completely ignored us. Restrooms did not have seat cover dispensers in all the stalls and the half the sinks did not work. And the parking for 2 hours was $20. The only new looking thing was the parking toll gates. I do not recommend.

This review is for the cocktail server, Kate that worked the floor last night, April 15th. She was very friendly and attentive and kept the drinks coming. Super quick and efficient! Thank you for taking care of us and everyone else in the casino. You made losing our money on the slot machines more bearable. Lol Take care and thanks again!

Stayed for two nights over the weekend earlier this month. Location is pretty good for snowboarding heavenly and hanging around the main casinos. Casino floor was nice, not super busy on the tables, and bars had a nice UFC event showing. My issue with the stay comes from the room and the customer service I had received since the stay. Room #617 that I was staying in had a leak from a vent in the bathroom. This leak was of heavy flow of brown/yellow water that smelt of sewage and feces. The hotel staff was notified and verified the incident. I was told I would be compensated for my two night stay, in addition to discussing further compensation. Three weeks have gone by and no compensation has been provided and everyone in customer service and EHS has continued to pass me off to the next person. This hotel has gone down hill fast since changing ownership. See screenshots of the video of the incident.Rooms: Unsanitary leaks.Nearby activities: Snowboarding. Casinos

Their pricing model for hotel rooms is questionable. Low upfront rates are negated by exorbitant hotel fees that vary greatly day by day. When asking about resort fees, you need to ask for all other associated fees as well that they aren't initially transparent about. I was charged 38% more for fees than expected. The check I received for casino winnings had no signature. I was suspicious of the process to rectify this and found very alarming the amount of time and effort it required. It wasn't until the morning I was scheduled to depart that anyone having authority to resolve this would meet with me.As for the quality of hotel accomodations and the property's condition, I believe I got a good value. They could make improvements or charge customers less than their competition. They clearly chose the latter. The staff were very personable and generally helpful within the limitations of their role. As long as you face no issues requiring support from a higher up, they really take care of you. I enjoyed interacting with most every employee.I had a great trip and am so glad I visited Lake Tahoe. My ideal stay is far more laid back and realxing than what I experienced at Golden Nugget though. Stress along with the levels of required effort, vigilance, and patience made my stay here galaxies away from anything I'd remotely describe as leisurely.

One of the worst hotels I've ever been to in my life. Nickled and dimed for parking and "resort fees" that add up to $50/night on top of the price we booked. One hard pillow for each side of the bed, and no way to call the front office so you have to walk down and get more from the front desk. Paper thin walls so you can hear a TV at regular volume in the next room over.I think the worst part was the heating situation. There was no way to cool the room down since all rooms run on one HVAC system, and ours was at 80 degrees. The suggestion from management for cooling it down is to open the window, which gives you very little control in the winter. Plus, we only had a sliding glass door with no screen we had flies buzzing around our room the whole time. The service was friendly, the location is good, but it in no way makes up for the old uncomfortable state of the hotel. Needs major updating to be worth HALF of what they're charging. Go stay in any other small motel in the area and you'll have a better experience for less.

Very clean and the beds were comfy but only two pillows on a king bed and the pillows were terrible. I have very few complaints except for the pillows. So bad. My husband, me and all four of our friends had the same feeling. Get better and more pillows.Rooms: The pillows are seriously so bad. I’ve never left a review before. That’s how awful these pillows are.

2 stars is a generous rating for me.Additional to ASTRONOMICAL fees on top of my nights rate, our room was SO HOT.. and you’re unable to control the temp. The casino has “central” and a sign in the room states to open your window if it’s hot… however, it only opens about 4 inches or so barely because there are no screens on their windows. So it didn’t help much. It also says you can call to request a fan or space heater and I called MULTIPLE times with no answer. The water barely got hot and went cold after about 5 minutes in the shower, not to mention horrible water pressure and our shower head sprayed all over the place. Also thought it was weird that there was no mini fridge, but they offered one at an additional rate. 🙄I would not stay here again!

EVERYTHING HORRIBLE! The hotel is old and dirty! The sheets smelled like dog pee, the air conditioning didn't work and we had to leave the window open to sleep, the bathroom was dirty with pee and even some aluminum foil inside, they left us only 1 toilet paper for 4 people, it doesn't have refrigerator They charge for water bottles and they have such a small price that you think they are complimentary, the bathtub had hair, the folders were dirty!!! I have come with my 2 children and I would definitely NEVER return even for free! I give -0 to everything in this hotel. DO NOT COME!! Always look at the comments and they are absolutely right.

perfect place to stay for a weekend getaway. only a few draw backs.1. the thermostat in our room was broken the first night and wouldn't turn off so the room was a piping hot 82 degrees and we had to open our balcony slider to stay at a cooler temperature.2. the lighting in the room is solely from table lamps and one of our lamps had a dead bulb meaning lighting was minimal. the bathroom did have a led lit mirror which made up for it.3. the only way to use a luggage cart was via bell service and since we were on a budget and wouldn't be able to tip we had to carry all our bags in and out from the 7th floor.4. When we first got to the room the balcony door was wide open, there was literal trash beneath one of the chair cushions and all the cushions on the couch, 2 chairs and patio seats outside were flipped up to make it look like they had been cleaned when they obviously had not been.5. The main dresser was out in the living room area which was odd to me and the nightstands were huge but only had one drawer in them. All in all a decent place within walking distance to 3 other big casinos and Heavenly Resort. We stayed in a suite meaning it had a living room type space in it which was kinda cool.I can't wait to see how it is after the renovations take place but if you're looking for a 5 star VIP hotel stay, choose somewhere else.Nearby activities: within walking distance of 3 other casinos and Heavenly resortWalkability: 10/10 for walkability to other places.Food & drinks: really pricey places to eat inside but good food. we ate at the steak house and for two entrees and sides it was about $200+

The pictures of what I booked versus what I actually received is absolutely outrageous in an incredibly horrific way. The shower has mold in the grout, there wasn't a fridge, the heating unit didn't work, the safe wouldn't work, no one came to fix the safe after service was requested, the whole place smells like smoke, can't open windows more than an inch, nowhere to put your clothes unless you bring your own hangers to put everything in the closet, paper thin walls, couldn't find the restaurant that's supposedly in the building, the list goes on. Highly DON'T recommend.

BED BUGSSSSS!!!!! DON'T bring your family to this place!!! We went for a weekend trip with another family as well and we stayed in a lake view room on the 14th floor, specifically room 1417 and we were not impressed with the room for the price we paid. We have never been around bed bugs before so had no idea what they were or looked like. We notice a couple small crawling bugs around the sink in the bathroom but I wiped everything down to get rid of the couple we saw. Naturally we weren't in our hotel room all weekend so we didn't think much of it. Once we came home we noticed these same small bugs along with bites on my children with itching and pain. It was at that moment I knew... Now for the other family we visited with, they were fully checked into another room where there was a family already staying in that room! And when they went to report that to the front desk, they did not believe them and told my friend "No, that's not true" Of course my friend told them please check for yourself so sure enough they were moved to another room that had no light bulbs and no trash cans!!! like WHAT!? Please save yourself the disappointment and bed bugs and do not stay here!!!! I have reached out to management and am currently waiting on a response. My call was sent to VM.

I recently stayed at the Golden Nugget Casino for one night, booking two rooms for March 28th and 29th. we encountered a major issue – the AC/heater in both rooms was not working properly. Throughout the night, we struggled to sleep in uncomfortably warm temperatures ranging from 75 to 80 degrees Fahrenheit. The inconvenience escalated when we approached the front desk the next morning to report the problem, only to be informed that it was a known issue. This lack of proactive action or compensation for the discomfort left us feeling disappointed and dissatisfied with the overall experience.

I am accompanying my hubby on his business trip, as we both love South Lake Tahoe. On previous trips, we've stayed at five of the other hotels in the area. It's our first time staying at The Golden Nugget. The hotel is centrally located, so it's close to everything. Our room is pretty spacious, looks clean, and we have a great view from our window! The bathroom is small-ish, but clean and nice. One of the lamps isn't working, and some of the furnishings are wiggly/unstable and could use a bit of love. For the price, though, we are plesantly surprised. The only real bummer is that there is no mini-fridge in the room. There are excellent restaurants right here in the hotel/casino! In the morning, you can sit and have a proper breakfast at Alpine Union, or, if you're itching to hit the slopes, you can grab a hot latte and a pastry from Refuel. We are here for a four-night stay. Last night was our first night here. We had intended to try Park Prime Steak & Bar. Unfortunately, it was closed to the public for a private event. So we decided to try Alpine Union. Turns out we were NOT disappointed! (The chicken Cobb salad was amazing!) We have other plans for tonight, but tomorrow, we're going back to try Park Prime. We are surprised at how many retail shops are right here in the hotel. And we're within walking distance to lots of other stores, hotels, casinos, and restaurants if we so desire. All in all, we're loving this trip! We may have found our go-to location!

Rooms: Room 1019 did not have cold water. The closet mirror door is broken, just lift it to put stuff in the closet. There has been zero budgeting to updating the rooms; outdated with previous Hard Rock Hotel artwork. This wasn't a big issue for us but, every room has Heating only, if you want the room to be cold, crack open the window.Service: During our 4-night stay both ourselves and our friends received zero house-keeping despite talking to the front desk. There is no Bell-Hop/Valet; park wherever once your inside. To get a cart for your bags, give the front desk your ID, then they will let you borrow the cart. Positive note, the front desk receptionist realized they are heavily understaffed and waived our parking and resort fees.Location: Best thing about this place. It's a short walk to the Cali side. We went skiing and walked the 10 minutes or so to get to the gondola.Overall: If you are looking for a time capsule into 1996, this is it. Nothing has been changed outside of Tilman Fertittas Landry's graphics on the TVs. Very short staffed, it almost seems like a low-budget TV show about a casino. It is safe to assume that there are no intentions on remodeling/fixing this location in the near future.Rooms: Expect the least.Walkability: Nevada side, with a short walk to Cali for the gondola.Noteworthy details: Very outdated, even in comparison to other local casinos.

Rooms are fine. Service is bad - asked for room cleaning at the front desk and made sure to confirm. Still didn't get room cleaning.Lots of hidden fees when booking through Expedia. Be prepared for surprises at check in.Edit: taking off another star because of how bad the pillows here are - easily the worst of all the hotels I've stayed at.

When we checked in we asked for a room with a balcony however were told we could not get that type of room cuz we were with a group and that's how it was set up. We asked if we could upgrade and told us no again because of how it was set up.We get to the room and inside we have a beautiful view of snowed mountains. No complaints here but we get to the Christmas party that night only to find out several people in our group have balconies and refrigerators which we were told $25 a night upcharge. Plus have a desk with an extra chair. We had no desk or chair either.Overall bed was comfortable but no room service the next day. Came back to the room and had to get cleaned towels.Walkability: Close to everything, very walkable.

Stayed for a weekend as I visited Tahoe. The theme of the Hard Rock Hotel was still alive and well with its classic imagery on the walls and doors of the hotel. The scenery outside was beautiful with a nice view of the mountains next to the Bailey Hotel. However When visiting I noticed a two small things that caught my attention. The first being that there was flies in my room when all the windows and vents have 0 openings to the outside. The mattress that I slept on was fairly rough to sleep on leaving me with back and neck pain as I woke up each morning. Other than that the stay was good. Service at the front desk was very friendly and quick to answer questions I had.Food & drinks: There was plenty of food and drink downstairs next to the casino. The restaurant downstairs was pretty good with very fast service and very tasty food.

Wrrible management team. It a whole mess out there. One time they assigned me a room that was still dirty and gross I had to go back and forth changing it. Then they always say different things. Front office staff says you can use your resort credit at the store, the store says first yes but later it turns out you can't. Now you have to deal with returns which then they act super rude and unpleasant like they're not supposed to be dealing with this and make you feel at fault. Then they'd still charge your card and when you try to get to the bottom of it 10 different people will give you 10 different stories basically sayin why they won't return you your money even though they promised reosrt credit based on your offer.Honestly, I'd stay away. I'm not loving all these shady dealings.

Since the change over to Golden Nugget the quality of the hotel is incredibly low. Almost all the rooms are run down with something broken. Heaters, showers, BROKEN DOOR LOCKS, stained sheets, TVs, parking gates, you'll have some issue with something here. Staff could care less and will just give you another run down room as a replacement. The casino dealers are very rude, and THEY WILL STEAL FROM YOU if they think you don't know the payouts. VERY SHADY CASINO STAFF. SHOULD BE REPORTED TO NEVADA GAMING COMMISSION. The only good thing about this place is the proximity to Heavenly.Rooms: FILTHY AND EVERYTHING BROKENSafety: Very sketchy people gamble here. The locals come here to try to steal from you. INCLUDING THE DEALERS!Noteworthy details: None. Absolutely run down hotel.

Didn't really walk around the hotel too much; kinda just chilled in the room with the boys. However, the room was pretty good. I will say it would be nice if the hdmi port on the TV was easier to access, I mean is there a problem if I'm trynna plug in my Microsoft Xbox series x to play Banjo Kazooie on Gamepass (best deal in gaming). But yeah, pretty cool.

Really hard to understand and not great communication from check in staff. Room needs a little update. Lobby looks completely renovated.Coming here for visiting the Lake Charles location is almost disappointment with the exception of the most beautiful mountain/lake views.I'm updating to say that the check out service was FANTASTIC. We were also told that with in the next year all of the rooms will be fully renovated and I most def will be returning to check it out.

Room descriptions online didn’t match what I received. Booked a suite with balcony and separate living room online and their version of separate living room is putting up half a wall between the bed and couch.Super thin comforters that were almost paper like, shower was super small and old. Very disappointed in room

The slots seem loose! Based on first visit. Who knows, maybe I just got lucky? Keep that house edge low, and people will keep returning! I know I will. I'm a 7stars member at Caesars, and I was very impressed by the one wolf machine I played. I think I won $100 on a $10 bet? Woulda lost $500+ at caesars, no doubt! Haven't tried the food yet.
