Every time I come in there is an extremely friendly face and someone knowledgeable to help me out. I’ve been coming here for two years and initially needed a lot of help. Robin took me around and asked me about the things I wanted in my dog’s diet and what I didn’t. She made great recommendations and never tried to sell me. I will be coming here for years to come! Also the friendly store pups are a nice touch!

Very helpful and knowledgeable with regards to feeding your dog. My Pomsky has been a picky eater since bringing her home. She also has stomach problems. Out of frustration I turned to Hammer's Healthy Hounds who recommended NutriSystems and she now finishes her food and digestive issues have improved.

It's a great store with a lot of healthy items I'd usually have to buy online. But today when I was visiting with my puppy the staff's dog wouldn't leave my puppy alone while I was shopping and wasn't respecting my puppy's clear but polite cues to be left alone. I asked politely for the dog to be recalled. The dog WOULD NOT leave us alone no matter how many times she was recalled. And when I was checking out the staff were rudely talking about me to other customers and snapped at me when I had questions about prices.Again, great store with great items. Did not have a great experience and left feeling judged.

This shop has a great selection of natural foods and snacks. However, I personally had a bad experience. The staff dog - a fully grown off-leash Great Dane - lunged and snapped at my 7-month-old GSD puppy while he was relieving himself before we entered the store. This was an unexpected attack by an uncontrolled off leash dog, not a friendly approach. When I confronted the shop owner about the incident, she claimed the dog was being “friendly” (trust me, I know a friendly dog from a dog in attack mode), and then said that it’s his space anyway since he lives in the shop. There was no apology, not even an acknowledgment that her dog could have harmed mine physically and psychologically. And I suppose if you run a dog-friendly dog food store, then you shouldn’t allow your own dog to be so protective of his space that he attacks your customers’ dogs.Again, they do have a great selection of dog food but given the incident and especially the disrespectful attitude, I wouldn’t come back.

I have been wanting to come by the store for over a year and today I actually had a little time so went in and had a great chat with Robyn the owner!! Starting our dogs finally on raw food and one of their gorilla bark chews. LOVE their selection for giant breeds!! Cannot wait to come back!!

I love how informative the staff is with choosing the right food for my cats. They also have everything I need from toys, supplements and will even special order brands for me if asked! I can't say enough good things about Hammers, my friends from south Reno even make the drive way out to sparks just to shop local and receive help and supplies from here. Very much would recommend!!!

This is the best pet store in Reno! All the workers there are so sweet, friendly and helpful. They are incredibly helpful and have helped me on more than one occasion pick out things for my four legged friend. I live with two other dogs, so keeping toys in the house can be a challenge, however every toy that they have recommended me has stood up to three hardcore chewers (Tall Tails can't be beat). Coming here is an absolute joy and I look forward to visiting every time.

EDIT OCT 2018: I decided to try again on a recent Sunday afternoon and was pleasantly surprised to find they have brought in more frozen raw items for cats, notably, Quest by Steve's Real Food. There is still no pricing on these items, but the lady who staffs the store on Sundays was more than happy to scan items for me and answer questions, so I purchased a couple of bags that we will be trying out his weekend. I plan to visit again soon to do some comparison pricing on raw items for my dog, who I am now transitioning. I am glad I gave them a second chance, and have upgraded my star rating to 4 (which would absolutely jump to 5 if prices were more easily accessible).------------------------------------------------------------------------I visited this store for the first time yesterday. I was looking for raw frozen feeding options for my cats. The first thing I noticed was that I didn't see pricing (stickers or shelf tags) on any items. I located the freezers in the back of the store. Again, no pricing. About that time I was greeted by the woman working there and inquired about a price list for items in the case. Instead of asking questions to narrow down what I needed, she started pointing and rattling off numbers for "this box" and "that bag". As I hadn't had enough time to even see what the freezers contained, this was not at all helpful. When I finally had a moment to look at the contents, it became clear that there was ONE item meant for cats (which I couldn't buy because it is chicken based and can't be eaten by one of my cats). I wandered to a smaller freezer in the front that had a package of turkey necks I was interested in. But the lady was busy helping someone else and I didn't feel like waiting to find out the cost. I wanted to love this store because it has so many good reviews and is a local business. But having to inquire about the cost of every item is a turn off. They do have an amazing selection of raw feeding options for dogs though.

What a gem! It was like looking for another long term relationship after having a falling out with my last shop as I visited several stores with a particular brand in mind. I found Robin to be extremely accommodating, knowledgeable and helpful. She always has our food when we need it. I feel like we have a new friend already. Very happy with our choice.

This is hands down the BEST pet store out there. The owners are kind and very attentive, you feel like family right when you walk in the door. Robin is so knowledgeable, listens to all of your concerns, and really cares about you and your furr baby. My Rottweiler is almost 2 years old and has a really sensitive stomach! I tried EVERY dog food out there that I thought was “healthy” and nothing was working, and her vet couldn’t find anything wrong. After telling Robin about my pup and all the issues she had, she recommended this food for her that was actually truly healthy, along with some treats, and probiotics. Well let me tell you, my pup has not had a single issue in over 5 months!! It’s amazing what the right kind of dog food can do for your pup. I also bought CBD treats for her anxiety, and an e-collar to help with training. ( the collar has been AMAZING!! her behavior is so much better, everyone needs one!!!) I’m so thankful for Robin and all the help, tips and advise she’s given me. Because of her and the store my pup is happy and healthy. Every time we visit we are greeted with smiling faces, and wagging tails! My pup loves it! We are forever customers now! :)

This store is inside Vista Village (shopping center) along with Pinocchio's restaurant and several other businesses. It's across the street from Spanish Springs Center another shopping center.This is a wonderful quaint little store. The owner is super friendly and kind. I asked her advice for purchasing a new snack that I could hide our dogs medication in. She made the suggestion of Bark Pops white cheddar and they look a lot like Cheetos. She suggested that I use a chop stick and make a hole in the Bark Pop and hide the medicine inside it.I purchased that and a couple of other meals. My dog seems to enjoy a variety of foods and tastes. We discussed my dog liking variety and she made several recommendations. She was very knowledgeable and kind. So gave me a couple of treats for free to try.The owners Great Dane Morphius is in the store and is quite the gentleman! He is super sweet. I will definitely be back.

Great selection of food and treats. I was able to get a grand deal on my dogs food and got the 30 pound bag for two dollars more than the 18 pound bag. They are so friendly and helpful and I will definitely be back to pick up more treats and other things I saw.

Honestly you may be able to find dog food maybe a dollar cheaper online but I would never go anywhere but here. We love Robin the owner and she is so knowledgeable about everything. We need to suppose these locally owned small businesses to keep them alive. This place is a gem!

'19-7-9 1st time: accompanied friend who also gives 5 Stars. The owner/operator is very knowledgeable, friendly, personal, attentive, and an engaging listener. The store offers a wide selection of main stream and holistic foods/supplements plus many types of equipment and supplies. A+ service/knowledge not available from BigBox or generic pet/feed stores. Highly recommend for older or ailing pets too!
