I have had 2 dogs that I used to bring here. Both small dogs, one was a chihuahua so his visits weren't that frequent but the other was lhasa apso and he had to go in every 3 months. It wasn't until I started taking my Lhasa somewhere else that I realize now, he may not have been treated right at canine cottage. He used to come home very anxious, nervous and would cry if I so much left his side to get a snack or something. The chihuahua would come home and hide behind the couch for a day or two EVERY TIME and would cower at anyones hand approaching him. I kinda wrote off their drastic change in personality as a response to just being left somewhere unfamiliar for a few hours. It infuriates me to think of the reason for them to be acting this way, but since changing my groomer for my Lhasa well over a year ago it is a night and day difference in his behavior in picking him up and while I only have anecdotal evidence, there's no doubt in my mind, both of my dogs were treated harshly here.

My dog Joey has been to this groomer three times, the past two visits when he came home he was flinching as if he was going to be hit. It breaks my heart to even think someone would abuse an animal let alone mine. The last time Maria told me that he was bad and wouldn’t stay still!I took Joey again to canine Cottage and they cut rectum so bad he was still bleeding hours later! And like every other time she does what she wants and didn’t complete his hair cut!I have pictures but for some reason im unable to post them. traumatizing experience for the little guy!

We have had mostly good experiences with several visits here. The last one was really bad - so it was the LAST ONE. I was grateful that they could get my dog in on a Saturday and was informed that they were short handed so it would be awhile. That was not a problem. We had been there several times and charged $40 for a bath only (and each time included a $5 tip). This time I did not check on the price in advance (the prior visit was a couple of months earlier). When I asked what I owed, I was told $70! I was shocked and told the groomer that my visits had always been $45 (mistakenly gave him the price I paid including tip) - he gave me a rant about how the cost of supplies - then I asked for him to return the special shampoo I had brought (my dog has sensitive skin) - he brought me the shampoo and told me the price would be $50. Ugh - turns out they didn't remember to use the shampoo - my dog broke out with skin bumps by the next day - which lasted about a week. So I will not be going back.

I took my rescue there to get his nails trimmed, he’s super skittish so I knew he would be a little reluctant. However the team there was super professional, and knew exactly how to handle the situation! He wasn’t the easiest 😅 but I’m super happy with everything and will be returning!

The people there are so nice and really care about your fur babies. We adopted a yrokie from a family member in California, his hair was long and matted. They gave him a good cut and he was so happy. He also has an extra dew claw that I was worried they might over look and cut him because his hair was so long, but no they were very careful and he still had his extra toe.

I took my my 1 year old puppy to get groomed there. My current groomer was on medical leave. I dropped her off at 9 and got no call that she was ready. I called at 1:30 pm and was put on hold for several minutes. Finally she came on the phone and said yes she is ready. I got there at 2 pm to pick her up and waited for 5 minutes to get her. When she brought her too me she was so frightened and did not recognize me. I immediately grabbed in and put her in my arms. The lady said sorry but we cut her elbow! I looked at her elbow and they cut the whole edge of her elbow skin off. They put Benadine and her elbow and skin glue. I was so Disgusted and took my dog away. They could have called me to let me know what happened and I could have taken her to the vet immediately! I do not recommend and would never take a dog there!!! Horrible and shame on the owners!!!

Four months ago they actually groomed my dog and they did a great job $150. He is very large with a lot of hair. Today, they simply shaved him and charged me $190!! I will NEVER go to this shop again! Extremely disappointed!

My long haired dachshund grew in an extra coat when she was spade. I wanted her to have a summer cut leaving length on her ears and tail. She was perfectly groomed, all the extra coat thatched out and still has her beautiful ears and tail. This has not always been the result I wanted. This groomer did a meticulous job. My dog is so happy with all her mats gone.

I am very upset right now. We've been taking my pup here for years but I feel that as of late, what we want done doesn't matter as much as it use to. My parents just brought my dog home and they did exactly what we told them not to. The lady that was there said she had told the girl who did my dogs hair twice, to not shave his tail as requested but my pup came home with a shaved tail anyway. My parents were then STILL charged full price. I cant believe they didnt even give them a complementary cut or at least a discount. Not to mention his ears came back extremely short. I'm very disappointed. We've been going there for 15 years. Will not be back again.Side note: My father told me that they once injured my dogs leg while being groomed, he had come back limping. If I would've known about this sooner I would've definitely stopped going there asap.

They did a nice job on my dog and she was very happy when I picked her up. I had her shaved for summer and I didn't like the way they did her tail and they happily fixed it and it seems like they treated her very well. I was a bit surprised though to find that it was a cash-only operation, also the building has a slight dicey appearance but they seem very nice. My dog is 37 pound poodle Australian Shepherd mix and it ended up being $60 for her grooming, which is about average.

I have been taking my Schnauzers there for 11 years. I always enjoyed them and the work they did as well their prices.This last time, my dog was terrified to go in, and when I picked up the dog, he was limping and they told me that they didn't do anything. He wasn't limping before! His leg was so bad it took weeks to heal!!

We use these folks for our two Shih Tzus. Very reasonable prices, 4 stars because occasionally their cuts are less than perfect. Very nice folks!

I scheduled an appointment for my dog and cat at 8am. By 10 I hadn't heard anything so I called and they said it would be another hour and a half because they were having a hard time with my cat. My husband and I felt uneasy and decided to go pick our pets up. When we got there and let them know we wanna take our pets a staff member named Minerva came out and became immediately aggressive demanding that we pay and refused to bring our pets out. We ended up paying half the cost before she would release our pets.After all that she brought out the wrong dog and she cut my cats nails even though I requested they don't.

They were so very kind and gentle to Steve, my dog who is terrified of get his hair groomed. I brought him in with a muzzle and not even halfway through the appointment, they gave me the muzzle back insisting Steve didn't need it... Miraculous!

Absolutely horrible and need their business for dog grooming shut down!I took my 8 year old Maltese poodle in here earlier today. Was very specific about how i wanted her cut and done.I got her back THREE hours later and my dogs eye swollen shut and she yelps and cries if you barely even touch near her face.I do believe she was stabbed in the eye with scissors or something. My dog has been to a few groomers in town and this is by far the worst! They constantly change their prices, lie and say the were 'matted' when they were not! They can't cut their nails for anything. They cut way too far down and you could clearly see that my dog bled.They also paid no attention to a few growths on her body and shaved them off, also causing bleeding.My dog has never acted so scared when coming home from a grooming. I truly believe when they hurt her, she reacted and she was abused.A few weeks prior, my mom took her tiny puppy in and his ear was cut. These people have NO business grooming animals! I will be looking further into the situation there, but I will NEVER take my precious pets back.Please do NOT take your beloved fur babies to this place, they dont know how to properly groom them and clearly have no care towards them!

Terrible Terrible place. Don't take your pup's here. We had to put our little guy down because they pulled his back leg out of his socket and they tried to lie about it. We put him down because our vet said it would be too difficult for a 13 year old dog to go through surgery and then rehab.

Only gone one time and that was enough. Took one of my Saint Bernard's in cause I missed the appointment at my other groomer in Sparks I'm very happy with but she was shedding and needed bathed and blown out. So I take her in and when I go get her she is done mediocre with lots of loose hair still coming out by just petting her. The little woman who was pleasant told me 90 dollars. The guy behind me in line told me he was getting the same thing done to his dog that's roughly the same size and they charge him 35. So I pay after explaining that I pay much less at my normal groomer for wash brush and shave. The guy after me told me after that they charged him 50 for the same thing and that he wouldn't be going back either. Looks like they lost a future and current customer due to Gouging. Plus I was never offered a receipt.

Marie is wonderful they have been doing my dogs for atleast 30 years. My dogs love her. Oh they also board dogs. I get my rabbit bathed and blow dried and my cats that have long fur that gets matted get shaved down.

Called to make an appointment, the lady that answered the phone said she was the owner so I asked for an at home appointment and she took my name but then started yelling at one of her male employees and I am just listening to her yelling and poor dogs barking, so I just hung up. I don’t know how they treat the animals left there but the one’s I heard on my phone call were in distress. I would never leave my dog there after hearing the way this owner yelling at her employee, I can only imagine what she does to a dog who doesn’t have a voice. Who is in charge of watching these kinds of businesses?

Tallulah Rose of the Marina and I are together 24/7 and I have bathed her myself for almost 10 years but due to a back injury I am unable to atm. I drive by the Canine Cottage often and decided to give them a try. I am so happy I did. She was done in a timely manner, looked so pretty with a big Christmas bow on her collar. Thanks Canine Cottage
