Loved this place. But dont buy the TUFFY TUG-O-WAR toy if your dog is an aggressive chewer. I asked for toys for aggressive chewers for large dogs and they recommended this. I didn't expect it to last months but i thought it would last at least a week. My dog chewed through it and gutted it within 20-30 minutes. I bought this toy yesterday. $20 in the trash. Then I checked the fine print on the label and it says the toy isn't for aggressive chewers but thats what I asked the store associate for "an aggressive chew toy for a large dog". I called her back today and explained the situation, her only response was for me to fill out warranty papers from the makers of the product. SO the lesson is Dont take their word for it, just because they work there don't make them professionals or knowledgeable. I guess its my fault for assuming that was the case. This review is based on this single experience only. All my other experiences with the other associates regarding food and harnesses were good experiences. But now that im speaking my mind I will need to find another store to shop at for my dogs. Good store just make sure to study up for yourself instead of taking recommendations from their associates when it comes to products.

We visit this store every time we’re in Reno! The staff are always super friendly and welcoming. There is a wonderful selection of dog food, toys, and treats. We always get the highest quality things here with the best brands and ingredients we trust for our dog. wish there was a location in San Francisco. He is absolutely OBSESSED with the faux rawhide bones.

I am not an employee of Healthy Tails but am a very satisfied customer who has been shopping at the store since it opened many years ago. The staff are very knowledgeable about their products and are willing to special order anything not in stock. They have helped me many times determine what food would best suit my dog whether it was an older dog with dietary issues or a younger dog with special needs. They are very patient even when dealing with abusive customers who have an issue with wearing masks and feel it is their right to take it out on staff. Thank you Healthy Tails for years of customer service.

I love this place! They are so helpful and they really know so much. They always carry the heavy dog food to my car, give me samples for my dog to try so I don't have to open a big bag of food my dog hates, and they don't make me feel guilty for not buying the best possible food for my dog. Sorry, a girl's gotta live! They are just the best people and they keep track of what I bought because I ALWAYS forget what I buy. This last time I went in I was going to buy the same old food I always buy but they took the time to listen to what I wanted and helped me pick a new food. I bought a bag of the Now brand food but they gave me a sample of it so my dog could try it out before opening it up. Of course he loved it. I was sure I would be spending more on food here than online but it's actually very close if not cheaper for the things I've purchased. That practically never happens. I love this place. I'm loyal for sure!

Amazing toy selection for my Lab. All of the bones that they recommend are great. My dog will chew a typical bone in about 10 minutes or less until it’s finished. One of there staff members helped me find the perfect bone for my dogs breed. When I got home and gave it to him I was shocked to come home 3 hours later and it was still intact!

I absolutely love Healthy Tails. It's a local shop and they have e-punch cards for some of their items, it's a fantastic bonus. Sean is very knowledgeable when it comes to certain dietary issues your fur-baby may have, well he's actually very knowledgeable in all aspects of food and treats! Sean is definitely one of the reasons I go back and always recommend people to go there for their pets. I also enjoy the organization of the store and I can appreciate it because I used to work there and I know how hard they work to keep it looking beautiful. Shop local whenever possible my friends. 🐾❤️

Great selection for treats, toys, collars and leashes, and food. The staff was friendly and the store was clean. The 'no hide' treats were a bit more expensive than other places, but the location convenience made it worth it. We'll definitely be back!

Healthy Tails is a really nice place to go for all things pet-related. The staff are friendly and helpful, they have a lot of quality products, and the prices seem reasonable. Plus it's a local business and I prefer to support local whenever I can.

A favorite place to shop for our dogs. Local over big box store any day! They have it all. We were pricing out the dog strollers (our old guy is blind and still wants to go on long walks) and their price was lower than the same brand online. And you get the face to face service and experience of shopping in you own neighborhood.

Not a good visit today. One of my weekend joys is treating my dog . The young guy behind the counter made me feel horrible (07/25). I left without a purchase and I’m sure I can find another overpriced doggie treat store to go to on Saturday morning.

The owners and the people that work there are very friendly very knowledgeable and very helpful to help me with undisabled they help me with my bags the dog food out to the car every time I go in there I highly recommend them to have an excellent quality food for your dog and their prices are reasoning

The staff was super helpful and informative about cbd treats to use for my older border collie Charlie. They helped explain the benefits of the different treats and helped me give the tincture I picked out to him his first time. If you are thinking about using cbd for your pets I absolutely recommend these guys! 10/5 stars if i could!

This is my dog's favorite place in Reno! The have a lot of dog food and treat options that aren't full of filler and by-products. They definitely take great care in selecting the food, treat, toys they sell to their customers.

I love the friendly atmosphere and helpful people. I used to go to Scraps, but they were always hoity-toity at the northwest location about what they thought I knew and what they knew about nutrition and pet products. (I have an wildlife ecology and conservation degree, I'm no Thomas Schoener but I still know more than they apparently do about animal nutrition) Plus someone there has a dog that continuously barks. Im sure its very friendly but I don't think it's appropriate for an associate to bring in their pet, just to show it off to the customers-who invariably get annoyed by it any way...The first time I went into Healthy Tails the energy and vibrancy really set it apart from every other pet store I have been to in Reno/Sparks. I like that you don't really need to worry about the quality of the products they carry-Although I have seen some instances of them recommending food that is too rich for certain breeds of food... And ya the prices are Mom and Pap store equivalents, but I would also much rather see a small local business than a huge profit minded corporation, so I am happy to pay the dollar or two extra. Plus my dog loves to go in and pick out a yummy treat from the assorted bulk treat section. Seriously loves it!

I just want to say that I met a very nice young man by the name of Dolan Petersen that helped me out when I was there looking for a coat for my little man, Gunner. He was so helpful and so polite that I just had to tell you that because of this kid, I will definitely be a loyal customer of yours and will tell my friends.. DO NOT BUY HERE. They like to sell you food that is under a lawsuit and not tell you. Then when I call you you try to justify it. No level of lead or arsenic is ok in my dogs food. And if the dog food maker is under a law suit don't you think you should notify the customer who is buying it? I will never shop with you again . You said you already knew Orijen was being sued for 3x the normal limit of arsenic cadmium and lead. YOU ALREADY KNEW WHEN I CALLED YOU SO THAT MEANS YOU LET ME BUY A $100 BAG OF DOG FOOD THAT COULD POTENTIALLY HURT MY DOG. YOU ONLY CARE ABOUT MAKING MONEY AND NOT YOUR CUSTOMER. AND THIS IS PROOF. You obviously aren't aware of the affects of these heavy metals to animals and you're still trying to blow smoke up my butt and cover your butt .
