I would say probably the best place to stay in caliente Nevada. Not only are the owner's, some of the nicest people you will ever meet, They would also give you the shirt off their back. I have stayed here many times and have always been an amazing experience every time if you haven't stayed here yet, do it!Rooms: Always clean and fresh. Always up and coming modern.Walkability: You can walk anywhere in the town from the shady motel.

Great little gem. We drove almost 9 hours yesterday south AZ heading to Idaho. We both got tired and was out of location to call without reservation. Amazing one room left, whew would stay here again.Rooms: The only thing I would change are the pillows, they are rock hard. No other issues with room.Walkability: Restaurant/bar, grocery store/gas station all within a walkable range for me with knee problems.

This is a well built hotels that the owner has take pride in maintaining. The workmanship was on point. It however is very basic no frills. The only negative thing I can say about my room was there are not enough outlets available or easy to get to for charging of small electronics. The staff/owner was very friendly and was a wealth of knowledge on the area. The location was great and I enjoyed being right across from the train tracks. We were able to walk to 2 places for good food. If I stay again in Caliente this is where it will be.

Definitely 5 stars!! Comfortable and clean room!! Check in lady had beautiful smile, great book to read in the room. Right in front of the railroad tracks, but very quiet and peaceful. Will definitely return. Checkout was quite simple.

No in house telephone, there's a microwave a mini fridge, the room feels brand new. Beds and linens are fresh and smell really nice and clean, they don't serve decaf at the office but they do have coffee, a bummer for me, a small television on the wall would make it hard for somebody who can't see very well but other than that it's a motel room it's very comfortable they do offer Wi-Fi. For $95 a night it just seems overpriced,there is a motel down the way that has phones inside and our way cheaper $20 cheaper but I didn't learn that until after I got this room live and learn

Motel is conveniently located close to Kershaw-Ryan state park and Cathedral Gorge state park. **Super** nice and helpful staff. It snowed the night before, front desk swept the snow from our car, checked weather report for us and gave us lots of tips. We had to cancel another stay due to winter storm warning and he was so understanding. We also enjoyed Knotty Pine restaurant recommended by front desk which is almost next door.

We stayed here one night on our drive home from Phoenix. It was lovely. The beds were comfortable and the showers were nice. The room had a refrigerator and microwave. The only thing that wasn't working consistently was the WIFI. We would stay here again on our next road trip.

The pretty building in the picture is the old train station not the motel. I was a bit disappointed with the motel. It was okay. It was a clean place to sleep. I had some work to do and the chair and desk were right in the way of anyone walking in the room, so I had to keep moving for my wife to get around. Queen size bed only had one night stand with plenty of room for two. No place to set your suitcase except for on the bed. To reiterate it was clean and comfortable. And the AC worked.

One of the nicer mom and pop hotels around. There is plenty of parking, the staff is very friendly and the rooms are clean and spacious. There was a nice selection of tv channels and you could tell the owner really cares about his property as looking around the property you can tell it is well cared for. If you are looking for a place to call home for a night or a week this place will not disappoint. My room had a refrigerator and a nice table and chairs to eat at. Definitely will stay here anytime I pass through the area!

Not a bad place to stay at, the rooms are decent sized with two tables, a decent size bathroom, min fridge and microwave. The rooms were pretty clean, although there is some pet hair here and there which didn’t bother me but may be an issue if you’re allergic. The cleaning staff were nice and the front desk was always happy to help if I had questions.Keep in mind yes this is right across from the train tracks, so you will hear the trains blaring horns multiple times a day/night, but all 3 hotels in Caliente are located right next to train tracks so it’s all the same. The window and curtain help cut down the noise, and they have free ear plugs at the front desk.The hotel is in what I think the best location of all 3. It’s a 5 min walk from the “downtown” grocery store, hardware store and side trac. It’s also only 5 minutes from the family dollar, usps, knotty pine, and (my favourite) J&J.One thing I think could be improved that may affect travelers the most is the internet. I included the speed test in my pictures, but it’s extremely slow and drops a lot especially when more people are connecting. On good days I could barely stream Netflix but on bad days I couldn’t even stream pandora. I understand internet options are probably none out here so I can’t fault them for that, but there is only 1 ASUS router at the front desk so the signal doesn’t reach very far. I’m front of the main desk and the rooms facing the desk the internet is doable, but the signal just doesn’t carry through to the back-side rooms of the hotel. I would recommend adding some Wi-Fi repeaters (One feature of ASUS is you could purchase cheap additional ASUS routers and set them to repeat mode and then set them around the hotel to extend the Wi-Fi signal at a very low cost). If you are booking a room here, I would see if you can get one closest to the check-in desk for best Wi-Fi signal.Other than these few things the hotel is fine, staff is great, and the location is very central within the town!

Front desk staff were friendly at checkin, and when asking for additional amenities. Clean room without any blemish. Staff there cleaned the room and did a turndown daily while we were out and about. Really great little Motel in the heart of a historic little city. Within Walking distance of Tourist areas, places to eat, and a gas station. Very much enjoyed my stay at this Motel.

Great place to stay if you are in Caliente. It was a huge room with plenty of extra space. Only problem was that it was lacking an outlet for my CPAP machine. The desk clerk was a big help showing me it hiding behind the end table.

Visiting friends (basically family) in Caliente and needed just a little more space for everyone to sleep. For what it is, the Shady Motel was perfect. Very clean rooms. Staff was incredibly friendly. Even the window unit did not make strange clicking sounds or was too loud turning on and off like 95% of the smaller hotels we stay in. They have coffee, tea and oatmeal in the morning. Plenty of parking and even earplugs for when the trains come through at night. We'll be staying there every time we come!

Being raised in a BnB, you learn quickly what acceptable and what's not. This place is a HIDDEN GEM!! Took a weekend get away with the family and didn't expect our hotel to anything great. Thus place is AMAZING. Clean, quiet beds are comfy, I have a bad back so they were a tiny bit too hard for me. But DONT let that be a bad thing, the showers and specifically the shower head they offer is A DREAM!!! The whole room was VERY nice, easy parking, easy access, but the shower head!! I wanna go back just for that alone! Lol, promise you will definitely enjoy your stay!!
