We stayed here this last weekend for visiting Death Valley. The layout of room 3 was great, looks very similar to the pictures online. The space is roomy for 2 adults plus several bags (and a medium dog crate) and was very efficient for what we needed. The bed and mattress were comfy so we had good sleep the 3 nights we stayed. The linen and towels felt very nice and clean. Direct TV was a nice option that we used each night after a long day of activities at the park and WiFi worked very fast. They have a couple tables and enough chairs we put to good use. The heater worked great for the space especially since it got pretty chilly at night and morning. It’s a convenient and (seemed) safe location especially if you want to walk to basic necessities and food close by and heading to Death Valley. The bathroom and bathtub shower were great and worked real well for us. Also they have a nice microwave, strong spacious mini fridge and freezer that was super helpful to us having food to store and consume. Most things I asked were answered promptly and the host was helpful. I only suggested they restock the toiletries before guests arrive, install a few hooks for clothes on the walls, and weatherize the front door to avoid losing heat in the winter and cool air in the summer. We recommend this place- we had a great time overall.

Comfortable rooms. Everything worked well and as expected. Older motel so outlets are limited. In our stay, it was quiet but the walls are quite thin so noisy neighbors could be challenging.Staff were efficient and polite. Overall I was very happy with our stay

Did not have the opportunity to stay, but wanted to compliment them on their faith and patriotism evidenced by the artwork on the sode of the motel. Very cool.Walkability: Main street Beatty is very walkable and has cafes and saloons within easy walking distance.

Pros:Staff was friendly and helpful.Cons:Room wasn't properly sealed. Cold air was coming through the windows due to bad seal. Bad seal around the door. You could hear everything being said outside in the parking lot due to the sealing issues. Room took a long time to get warm due to all the cold air blowing through.Walls were paper thin could hear everything in neighboring rooms.Carpet was very stained and looked filthy. Dirty walls, surfaces and floor around toilet.Wifi didn't work.

This place is so chill. I stayed here 3/27 and 3/29/23, first night in room 9, a triple queen, and 2nd night room 6, standard double. Both were pretty standard rooms, nothing fancy, but the water was hot and the beds were clean. The motel's location and staff are really just fantastic though. Cat is the manager, Chihuahua is security, and the traffic at night is ZERO. Crazy quiet at night, super peaceful. Compared to Stagecoach at the north end of town, this place is serene. I stayed at Stagecoach once and never again. If I ever come to Beatty again, I will be staying here. Very conveinent access to hills west of town leading to Rhyolite. I had a great time. Donkeys walked right up to my trailer both times when I was leaving.Nearby activities: RhyoliteWalkability: Museum across street, gas stations very close easy walk

This little motel was surprisingly charming! The rooms are clean and the beds were comfortable. The resident cat and chihuahua were probably my daughter's favorite part of the trip. The staff were very nice.Rooms: Kinda retro. It was a little like staying at grandma's house. But, clean and comfortable.Walkability: Easily could walk to most of Beatty's best restaurants and across the street from the town museum

Careful with this business. They are very unethical and don't like to pay their bills. Daughter inherent the business and decided she doesn't like to pay services received.edit: @owner, that's where you are wrong. I have visited El Portal Motel back in like 2015. "fair and ethical" = not paying your website provider just because you inherent the hotel even when you have emails.

On our way back to Oregon from Vegas, this place was perfect. The service is so friendly and wonderful. The room was clean and well maintained. We love Mittens the cat! Was told keys would be left in room and room left unlocked. Arrived to locked room and no one at front desk. Finally got into the room. First thing we noticed was horribly stained carpet. Bunch of huge black spots. Second thing ... On a cold low 40s high 30 degree night the back window was left wide open. The heater didn't work, manager said heater takes about 20 minutes to kick on. Heater controls are in Celsius and extremely confusing. Took almost all night for the room to warm up. The open window actually had broken glass and a totally broken crank. I had to physically walk around back of the hotel to close the window. Surprisingly the bed was actually fairly comfortable. Room layout was extremely odd. Heater was on the total opposite side and barely blew any air. Heater was filthy with dirty drips all underneath it. The toilet leaked water from the seal at the floor. I never expected luxury but overall from the other reviews I expected a pretty decent place but was thoroughly let down. Fyi we stayed in a room next to the main office. Maybe the other building is better.

El Portal is an all American motel just 40 mins from Death Valley National Park. The drive to and from the park is absolutely gorgeous. The rooms have two queen beds, microwave and mini fridge. The folks that run the place are kind and helpful. The food options in Beatty are limited. I highly recommend carrying some microwavable food with you. Do not expect a five star luxury experience. But the place was cozy and perfect for two days of park exploration. A special shout-out to Mittens the cat, she runs the place!

Second time staying here, it's always clean very clean. The manager is very nice and accommodating. They have actual keys which I love. The place is so charming.The coffee they provide is quite terrible though. Gema's cafe was kind of terrible as well, and i don't find the coffee at the candy store to be very good. Hate to say it but i would recommend Denny's.10/10 Would love to stay again if I come through here.

El Portal Motel was a great last minute option. My partner and I did not know where we were staying that night and called ahead. The gentleman at the front helped us in the middle of the night, hassle free!Room was cleaner than I would have expected and the pillows were nice and fluffy. The tub could have been a bit cleaner and there was a dead spider beside the bed but honestly, it was not a big deal.Everyone was nice and easy going. Check out process as easy as dropping a key in a box.AND theres donkeys that walk around the area in the morning. They’re wild animals but they seem pretty use to humans. Got to pet them a bit :)

Everyone here was super friendly. My tire blew out in the middle of no where and I had to wait half the day for a tow truck so I booked a room. I needed a lock for my trailer and the manger went above and beyond to help me find it even her kid helped loved this little town. The place is a little older but super cute and amazing people. Felt and home.

An old American motel, with all its charm in the tiny sleepy town. The town is a gateway to the Death Valley national park. We lived here for the night during our visit to the town. The motel looks like a dump, but it has everything to provide a good nights sleep. We reached quite late in the night. The office was already closed, but everything for our check in was provided. The key was kept in the key box for us to access easily. The room was big. There were two queen beds, enough pillows and bedding stuff. There was a tv. The bathroom was decent, with more than enough towels ( all washed and clean). The room was given with an old window Ac. Initially we were feeling hot, but later on in night it was all fine. The wifi was good. I was working from ‘home’ the next day morning, and faced no trouble. We went out for stargazing ( Milky Way mostly), late in night. This is one of the darkest night skies in the world, and perfect for stargazing. We just drove a little further towards the national park, and pulled over. It was a surreal experience to see the sky full of stars and the Milky Way stretched from the horizon- to- horizon overhead. It’s very easy to do from this motel. There are spots to park your cars in front of your room.

It’s a good motel at reasonable price located in Beatty. 30 mins drive from Death Valley entrance and 10-15 mins drive from Goldwell open air museum. They have all the basic but necessary amenities in the room with couple of chairs and a table for outdoor sitting. My room had a pine cone and a toy owl outside on the window. They also shave a cute cat roaming around in their office.

Stayed here for a night. It’s located in a very small town. Customer service is decent. Rooms are quaint but comfortable. They have a microwave and fridge and that’s great because the restaurants in the area are rather disappointing.

El Portal Motel is a good deal; we would stay there again. Very clean; owners are friendly and helpful; great price. Our room only had a shower, so families with children may want to ask if there are other options.

Great place, simple and clean. The hosts were very helpful when we needed an extra night. They also let us leave a car while were were camping in DV for a couple of nights.An extra bonus - The VFW is within walking distance and it's a hidden gem for dinner.

Old school motel. Paneled walls, old furnishings and even an actual key to get into your room (not a card like most hotels have now). Most old motels like this are pretty bad with sketchy people hanging around but this one is actually pretty nice. The room was super clean and spacious. The AC was cold. The other guests were mostly tourist families like us so we felt very comfortable. I'd stay here again.
