Awesome place to stay! The market has great bites and provisions and is very close to Great Basin National Park. Rooms are cute and clean, the showers are a bit old but the water pressure is fantastic.Nearby activities: Lehman caves, Great Basin National Park

Wonderful place to stay. Comfortable room with everything we needed. Host was very welcoming and provided helpful info about the National Park and the surrounding area. General Store had great food options, both healthy and tasty. Great coffee too! Location was ideal to access the National Park, just a short drive away. We would highly recommend!

We were just here for a beer and to kill some time after visiting Great Basin, and what a gem we stumbled into! This place absolutely rocks! The General Store is well stocked with high quality foods, very well decorated, and has a variety of local/craft-type goods. There is a 'bookstore' section, and there is a fridge of beers you can choose from to drink onsite. There's a coffee bar, as well, which makes this not only a general store but a nice place to hangout for a bit. You can also stay here overnight in the Inn (which we did not do, so I can't speak to the rooms... but if it's anything like the store, they're great). The owner, Liz, was extremely friendly and accommodating. We enjoyed getting to know her a bit, and we absolutely love what she's done with this place and the influence it must be having on the town of Baker. Truly amazing.Nearby activities: Great Basin, for one, but plenty of scenic views, off-roading, and hiking.Food & drinks: Have a beer or coffee onsite. Nice, cozy place to hangout.Noteworthy details: Many of the food and drink products in the General Store were chosen with food allergies in mind!

This place is a gem! Located at the base of Great Basin National Park. Liz and her husband have done a great job of fixing up these classic motel rooms (we stayed in #2). The room was very tiny but had everything we needed for a cozy night. A water kettle with tea and coffee was included. The General Store has practical items you might need and fun things you might want... Like games, wine, and snacks. The patio would be a lovely place to hang out when it's warmer. Lastly, true to it's name, the star gazing from here is amazing! We'll definitely be back... This will be our first choice as a stop from CA to CO.

The Star Gazer Inn was an absolutely wonderful experience on our Honeymoon. This is the kind of place that will restore all of your faith in humanity. The Owner is super nice and you can tell how much he cares about your stay. The room had everything we needed and is just a block from the best Mexican food you’re ever gonna eat in Sondra’s Mexican Food Truck. There is a cute court yard that has cornhole and plenty of seats to relax. There is wonderful star gazing especially at the Baker Archialogical Site just a mile outside of town. The owner actually told us to go there and it was the best night sky we have ever experienced.I would imagine my wife and I will return. If you are planning to travel the loneliest highway circle this destination and go inside to meet the owner. Stay here if you can.

I'm not sure if you remember me, but I vividly remember you. I was driving through your area during a snowstorm, and I saw you guys playing baseball out front. I'm the Mopar guy, and I wanted to remind you that baseball season has started, and you're welcome to come down anytime to play. Also, I have some great pictures of you guys throwing a baseball in the snow that I'll post and make available for you. I don't care which team you're on, as long as you love baseball, let's go!

While we did not stay at the inn, the general store is the best I’ve come across and a highlight in Baker. We couldn’t find anything open for food, considering we visited in mid November, and were delighted to visit the store. They quite literally have anything you could need or want. I have some food sensitivities and was amazed at the variety of offerings that were available, from GF to vegan etc. They also had a small book shop in the corner, coffee, select beer and wine, souvenirs….I could go on!!The owners were so kind and personable! If you’re ever in or near Baker, which takes some planning to get to so it probably won’t happen by accident ha, make sure to stop in and check out this charming and cozy store!

What a great place! With Great Basin NP being so isolated, I was afraid we weren’t going to be able to find a place to stay. Luckily this spot is located right at the end of the road that enters the park. The location CAN’T be beat. The rooms were cozy and had everything we needed, even coffee! We were very comfortable and I had the best nights sleep I’d had on our week long road trip! Wonderful!

What a fun special place! Perfect location for exploring Great Basin National Park. The room was rather small but met our needs. Amazing shower pressure! Luck had it that we were there for bingo night. Guests and locals joined in the fun. The store has food items, gifts and great coffee. Wonderful front porch to hang on. Be sure to stop by to the marvelous owners!

Great one night stay that I wish was longer. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The room was simple but very clean and comfortable. The shower was strong and the water nice and hot. The co-located General Store was well stocked and had a comfortable area to sit and visit, read, and/or drink. Baker is a great little town at the edge of the Great Basin National Park. I look forward to visiting again.

The owners are extremely polite. The only reason Rooms is 4 stars is only to FYI that there is not a TV or fridge or microwave in the room, the room was fine I just didn't realize this and had drinks and food I wanted to heat up, & always fall asleep with the TV on.It's also 5 min from Great Basin Ntnl Park.

I hesitated to leave a review because my wife and I wanted to have this place as our best kept secret, but in all fairness, I have to say we were pleasantly surprised at what a great experience this place has to offer in such a remote, tiny town. Liz, the owner, was fabulous. The rooms are quaint, and comfortable. We could tell that these folks really go out of their way to make things nice for visitors. They'll help you with anything. The first thing we noticed when we opened the door to our room was the pleasant smell in the room. We stay in A LOT of hotels, and sometimes the strong scent of cleaning agents--or lack thereof, can be off-putting. We are picky, and notice small details, and we definitely do intend on coming back. We rely heavily on reviews on hotels, and so we gladly share our input as these folks really put their heart into doing a good job. You can book your stay with these folks with confidence. The charming home town feel is just great.

Amazing place to see stars in the night sky! Using my child’s small telescope I could see 4 of Jupiter’s moons. Additionally this is only minutes from Great Basin national park. If you want to admire an open sky around good hearted people this is the place to go!

What a great place to stay. Owner is the sweetest. Room was clean and modern. The general store next to the rooms was the cutest and most comfortable little place. They sold wine, beer, organic food, snacks and coffee. We did bingo night and that was so much fun. Place had everything you needed and more. I will definitely be back.Rooms: Room was clean and modern. No television. I loved that. Had a hot water kettle to make tea or coffee.Nearby activities: The great basin is a 20 minute drive from here.Food & drinks: Food and drinks at the general store were excellent. I am vegan and was able to get a tofu scramble for breakfast from the store and she has a microwave available to heat it up. We also purchased fresh strawberry rhubarb muffins that were AMAZING! Coffee was local and delicious. They have non dairy options.

Really cute and homey place to stay. The owners are lovely and I really enjoyed having breakfast with the woman that runs the place every morning. I highly recommend trying the muffins. There are great local food places nearby, including the cafe in the visitor center. Just be sure to watch their hours so you don't miss out! There are two food trucks in walking distance, but they're closed a few days a week.

Absolutely in love with this place! The rooms are simple but super cute and clean. The general store is what dreams are made of. Perfectly curated with great grab and go bites, coffee, wine/beer, local art, and gear. The store is so warm and inviting and Liz, the owner, was so incredibly accommodating and lovely. Can’t wait to come back!

Definitely worth a visit. The motel doesn't look like much from the outside, but the rooms are really nice. Boutique hotel accommodation with a really comfortable bed. Clean room. Nice outdoor area. Friendly people. The general store is great with a large selection of everything. Great brands of snacks, food, equipment, etc.Nearby activities: Baker, Nevada is the closest town to Great Basin National Park.

Had a great experience with Stargazer as we explored Great Basin NP. The rooms were well appointed for their price and came stocked with the best instant coffee I've ever had. Legit delicious. Bristlecone general store is a real gem...think Rose Apothecary from Schitt's Creek. Liz is very thoughtful about what she stocks and it's fun to browse the unique treats when perusing the store. Staff was beyond positive and helpful. They are a wealth of knowledge and genuinely want their guests to get the most out of their time in this remote area. Looking forward to future visits!Rooms: Cozy and thoughtfully stocked with quality coffee and tea. Quality linens and towels. Comfortable beds. Can get dusty...a broom in each room would be welcome.Nearby activities: Great Basin National Park, attractions around Ely.Walkability: The town takes 5 minutes to walk from outskirt to outskirtFood & drinks: Mexican food truck, burger truck and great resto in the center of town. Bristlecone for coffee, drinks and snacks. Breakfast at the Lehman Caves visitor center.

Visited the end of January / early February. Weather was cold, but the fresh snow was gorgeous! Stayed in the larger rooms (8-10). Quiet, comfy and came with the basics! Super close the Great Basin National Park. Perfect for hikers. The owners make you feel very welcomed and the general store is well stocked! Highly recommend :)
