Really good folks 👍 are honestly concerned about the animals in their care. I was able to adopt a great dog.

I have never seen such a cool rescue for dogs. When I went there to pick out my pup, I had the pleasure of checking out so many well cared for dogs. We have had our puppy now over 5 years and love every minute with him. He grew a lot since we got him at just a few weeks old. Now look at him.

This rescue is amazing! If you are looking for a forever friend make the drive. They work with the dogs, socialize them and make sure the dog and person matches. They are a no kill and will do everything in their power to save a dog. I have added pics of a few of my favorites from our visit today.

We rescued our second dog from here and he has been so wonderful. This rescue really cares and works hard to find good homes for their dogs. When we picked Fidus up, they gave us a whole bunch of goodies for him and a dog bowl which we greatly appreciated. Love what they are doing!

We had been looking for a puppy for our daughter since Christmas unlucky with 3 pups that we tried to rescue but then we came across 12 hills dog rescue and they had just posted little Zowee. I immediately called and spoke with such a nice lady. (Nola) She was so sweet and also very helpful and within a few hours after reviewing our application called us back and said that we had been chosen as the new family for Zowee !! We couldn't have been happier and went to get her the next day. Everything went very well and they were all so helpful in the whole process. I would highly recommend this rescue ! So thank you again to everyone there !!

I adopted a puppy from 12 hills dog rescue a little over 8 years ago. My impression at the time of their facility was that while they may rescue dogs, they were also breeding them. At the time I picked up our 12 week old puppy, they had 3 different litters of pups in their home. 2 litters of toy breeds and the litter of medium breed pups that my Houston came from. They claimed my pup was socialized since birth (born at facility), however, when I placed her down on the floor so I could pay the adoption fee, we literally had to corner her to catch her again because she was so afraid of people. It took us 3 months of living with her in our home before she was totally comfortable with us touching, petting or catching her. She would lay next to us or play catch with us, but was skittish about being touched by us. Of the dogs in kennels that I saw , the males were not neutered, so would assume females were not spayed. The female they claimed was the mother of my pup's litter was running loose on the farm, I have never seen a rescue with free roaming dogs. I took Houston to my vet the very next day after adopting her, and after finding she had worms, he dewormed and vaccinated her, even tho the rescue's records showed her up to date on both. I signed a contract when adopting her saying that part of the agreement of them allowing me to adopt her was that I would spay her when she was old enough to be spayed. Maybe no rescue checks up on that, but I guess I thought they would have required proof of that and if not receiving proof would contact you. The rescue my daughter worked with to adopt a pet spayed/neutered all adult dogs prior adopting them out and actually did a home inspection prior to giving approval to adopt any of their rescues. The plus of my adoption of Houston is that we have a beautiful dog we all love, so we thank 12 Hills Dog Rescue for that, but 8 years ago I questioned their non-profit rescue status as I felt they were breeding for puppies because they knew that they are more easily sold or 'adopted' than the adult dogs. Possibly the rescue has evolved over the years to a more rescue type facility and my review is no longer valid, if so, then good for them, but I ran across their web page today and wanted to put my opinion out there of what I had observed when I was at their facility.

**ADOPTER BEWARE**I'm so sad to have to make this review! I did my research prior to going to adopt a puppy and from I could see and find it was a fabulous place. I will say the staff was very nice. However, now two weeks later I find myself with a sick puppy and have spoken to another litter mate's owner who also has a sick puppy. My pup had a severe case of roundworms for which we were told she was dewormed twice prior to us taking her to the vet and now she has been diagnosed with kennel cough. I have been given the impression by 12 Hills Rescue this is not anything to be concerned about and was told that I could bring her back and get my money back when I mentioned the financial inconvenience having this kind of vet visits I would never take a dog back and felt it was very unprofessional to be suggested. I will care for and treat the pup for her illness however, I also have to treat my other dogs which is the bigger inconvenience. They allowed a sick, contagious puppy to be adopted out and expose other dogs!I would not recommend adopting from this "rescue" as it does seem they are actually involved with breeding, not rescuing due to the copious amounts of sick puppies.

The best people! They were so nice and caring of all of their animals and they really care who adopts! We got the sweetest German shepherd/Bluenose pit puppy here! We couldn't be happier, I highly recommend checking out their website and fb page if you're looking, you won't be disappointed!

I'm glad I am in the minority. My experience was obviously not typical.I have worked with dog rescues for over 5 years now, all the way from small rescues to large shelters. My first concern was when I was told that none of the dogs have been tested for heart worm. Nola said it wasn't really necessary because the dogs didn't come from the southern states. My veterinarian STRONGLY disagrees because she has seen it right here in Nebraska in dogs that did not come from the south. It is a very easy blood draw test with results available in 5-10 minutes. It is a relatively inexpensive procedure, (about 30) at my veterinarian. If the dog does have heart worm, the treatment is between 500 and 1500. I was willing to take the risk since I can afford it. However, one major concern is keeping the dog quiet so the worms don't spread which would be especially difficult in a puppy. You may want to get a WRITTEN agreement in case the dog is infected so you can return the dog and receive a refund. There's lots of information available regarding heart worm on the web. When I contacted Nola about a particular dog, SHE suggested she could call or email me if anyone came in wanting the dog. I sent an email to her the morning she gave the dog away with ?? about the dog. She emailed me that evening saying she gave the dog to someone else because I had too many questions. When I questioned the problem with wanting more information, she said she tried calling and emailing me. I went back and checked and there were no calls or emails. Don't know what happened there. After this was over, I looked closely at the web site. There is a spot where you can put down a non-refundable $50 deposit to hold a dog. Nola would then be obligated to contact you before giving the dog to someone else. I would suggest you do that since it would give you recourse in case there was a miscommunication.Because of the issues I've had, I would check her facility out closely. It is more like a shelter than a rescue. Dogs in a rescue are fostered in someone's home so they are able to provide a great deal of information about all their dogs. They never tell people they have too many questions since that's the way to make sure it is a good match. They get to know the applicants and check vet and personal references. All the dogs are fully vetted and have been given heart worm checks and are micro-chipped. Guess I am just more comfortable with their careful procedures.I'm not the type to write reviews unless they are positive. I don't like the negative energy. However, I felt it was important to share my experience.Good luck in finding a rescue! There are so many dogs who need a home.

The dog I got from them is the most gentle one I've ever had. It's going to take time for her to adjust to having a yard to play in but I've had absolutely no issues. Wonderful puppy I adopted

They said they had a litter of puppies and I was approved and I could get one. I Went out got all the things I needed for it when I emailed a question they came back with all puppies had been adopted when I tried to find out more they stopped answering my emails and phone calls two days later 2 of the 4 puppies came up on their web site and as of this post they still have one on there they still will not tell me why. I guess they don't need help with new homes.
