Had to drive a little out of the way to eat at the Salty Dog, but man was it worth it. This place has the perfect mix of character and patina. It has all the essentials...a fish tank, music playing, old school ceiling fans, cold beer, great food, and service to match. Photos of the menu are attached (note business hours on the next to last page of the menu - open Wed thru Sun). Try the Super Nachos or the Bowser Burger...you'll thank me later!

Came in on a " Sunday Funday " the place was packed. Walked in no seats were available which I was expecting. Made my way to the bar where I was greeted by a couple of bar tenders who were extremely gracious. Within in seconds I had a drink and a menu. Met some locals who were top notch. Ordered food which was exactly what I was told it would be. Great service especially since I was from outta town and they knew it. Great food, phenomenal service. Not sure who Margo is but if I had to guess she keeps the ship tight. Wonderful young lady. If you're off the beaten path I HIGHLY suggest Salty Dog in Steel City Nebraska. This place is one of those hidden gems you have to appreciate for what it is. A small town bar in an older building that's been around for years. As long as I can remember the Salty Dog has been a down home place with cold beer and great food. They have steaks or prime rib on weekends occasionally, and have Mexican food as well as their signature burgers made from ground Pork. The Salty Dog Burger, and the spicier version, Bowser Burger. The prices are very reasonable and the service is great. They do not accept credit cards, but there is an ATM in case you forget. Here is a pic of my Bowser Burger.

Wide variety of drinks. Large servings and very nice atmosphere. Staff was very friendly and alert to needs. We ordered appetizers not realizing how much food you are served. We ended up with leftovers for another meal. This place is cash only, but they do have an ATM on site. Would recommend and eat at again.

This Bar in Steel City is Amazing on a side street. I walked in because a friend told me they have Great Burgers. Yes they do , on Wednesday's the burger is 7.95 with frys. Great price. The food was served fast and tasted Amazing. If your ever near I strongly recommend this place.

Seemed pretty disorganized when we stopped by during the flea market. The pulled pork sandwich was tasty, and the bartenders were nice, but I wasn't very impressed with the service. The wall decorations are neat though.

Super cool bar and the owner is amazing. They have great food and a jukebox, pool table and games. Cash only bar but they do have a ATM on site. Everything is fairly priced.

Hands down the worst hamburger I've ever had. Asked for water. Got bottled water and was charged for it... $7.70 for a plain fried burger on a small bun, a scant few tasteless fries & bottled water. The burger tasted "funny" and was tough like shoe leather... YUK!!
