Oh, where do I even start.... this place came highly rated, so we gave it a shot. Secondly, I know every single place is short staffed, so I take that into consideration.On to my review... The waitress was quick to get our order. That's my only positive.We waited 55 minutes for our food, TWO tables that ordered after us got their food first, and one of them had the same things we had ordered on ours. Both tables felt bad and said something.Then the food comes out cold, sausage is undercooked, and it's just blah.Food was subpar.Service sucked.Waitress was unapologetic.Just a horrible way to start our day of travels back home.

I always enjoy eating at the Crystal. Good, consistent food and friendly servers and staff. Good value for the money. The cafe is constantly clean and well maintained. The carpeting has been replaced twice since I started eating at the Crystal some six years ago. My favorite order is a bacon, cheese omelet with an upgrade to an English muffin. Of course, I have found that if you give the waitresses a hard time, they may get a little sassy with you, but it's all in good humor. The menu includes all the typical truck stop foods, and I have enjoyed many items on the menu, including a bowl of chili. I have also enjoyed their plate-sized pancake. I highly recommend a visit to Crystal Cafe if you're passing by exit 2 on I-129/U.S.-20 in South Sioux City, Nebraska. Tell them "The Padre" recommended your visit.Parking: The parking lot is very flat; however, repairs over the years have created some uneven surfaces in the otherwise flat parking area. I have not seen anyone fall, but if one shuffles, just make sure they pick their feet up in certain spots.Kid-friendliness: The waitresses love the children when they come visit. High chairs are available and several large, family-sized tables of six provide plenty of space for families. Even "the regulars" are children friendly.Wheelchair accessibility: There are two handicapped spots available outside the entrance to the cafe. The ground is very level by these stalls and no slope exists when entering the cafe. Assistance is required when going through the entryway since the cafe does not have automatic doors and the transoms on the doors creates bumps. The cafe itself has plenty of tables where wheelchairs can fit and the servers are willing help find seating. The only downside is that the bathrooms do not have a handicapped stall in them. Some disabled will require assistance when using the restroom.

As transport drivers, we get to try restaurants all across the US, and for the most part, try to find the little mom and pop truck stops. We found this little gem and are glad we decided to have lunch. The chilli cheese dog was fantastic. Homemade chilli, 1/4 beef hotdog and a good amount of diced onion and shredded cheese. The hamburger steak looked incredible as well. And homemade salad dressing....that's a first, and something I'll be looking for in future travels. We're not much for dessert, but so glad we decided to try 2 different homemade pies. The sour cream raisin was different, but so tasty. And the banana cream pie was every bit as tasty as it looked. Great job Crystal Cafe, definitely worth the trip

LOVE THIS PLACE, REALLY GOOD FOOD, LOVE ALL THE STAFF. I HAVE NEVER HAD BAD SERVICE OR FOOD.. ALSO AFFORDABLE. THEY'RE PULLED PORK BARBECUE SANDWICHES TO-DIE-FOR COMES WITH FRIES IT'S ONLY $10 ALL THEIR SOUPS AND DESSERTS ARE HOMEMADE. I EAT HERE ALL THE TIME.Parking: Lots of parking for truckers. Plenty of room. Easy to pull out onto highway right down from interstate.

Our hostess was pleasant and took good care of our party of six. However, we experienced two glaring disappointments:1) Two of us had to change their preferred entrees because the previous night's staff didn't slice the beef, so roast beef sandwiches weren't available for anyone during the entire next day. The waitress understood the gravity of the situation and joked that she wouldn't be surprised if we chose to dine elsewhere.*2) I ordered the "Chicken Fried Steak" because it sounded like an intriguing alternative to Country Fried Steak; however, as tasty as it was I realized the meat texture was more dense than poultry usually is. When I asked our hostess about it, she explained it's "FRIED like chicken but yes: it's beef." Since we were having REAL steaks elsewhere that evening, this added further insult to our dining njury experience.*Note to the manager or menu writer: Please consider an update to the entree description as "Chicken-fried steak" or "Chicken FRIED (beef) steak". We have chosen to dine elsewhere for a little less 'excitement' and more certainty.Parking: 20 - 30 spots for angled self parking on a gravel lot with a clockwise entrance and exit.

Love this truck stop and the Cafe is awesome. The people that work here work hard and treat you like family. I rarely stay here, because I can't go to Dr's appointments, shopping or handle business and come back over fear of my truck being towed. Not sure how strict they are on it, but signs say and an employee said that you can't leave with your truck there. I'm sure they have a good reason and drivers must have abused their hospitality prior to the rule. I stay here if I want a good meal and go to sleep. Great to be treated good and eat real food and not forgotten by your waitress. Always leave a good tip. Those girls earn it.

The food is very good and service is too! I recommend coming here. The slices of pie are huge, and very good too!! I stopped by again for another meal and was very pleased with my chili and cheeseburger. The burger special came with a slice of pie. I chose the peach pie and asked the waitress to heat it up but she forgot. It was a delicious pie but would've been great if it was hot!Over all I still say the food is great and the service was very good!!! I'll be back again.Update October 2021My wife and I stopped for breakfast, and everything was great! Our server was awesome, and our breakfast was too! The prices are higher than the last visit here, but it's the same way everywhere. We were served huge portions, and everything was hot and fresh! I still give 5 stars, and recommend stopping here for breakfast, lunch, or dinner.Update February 2022Stopped by for dinner, and it seems the kitchen is overwhelmed, and can't keep up with the food orders. Our server is very nice and polite, and has apologized for the wait, and offered a free desert.

Robin was a marvelous server, she checked back with me and my sisters and refilled our coffees and was courteous, polite and helpful with the menu items. The chicken strips were fantastic as were the fries and burger and shakes. Great place for good food and service. 🍔🍟🍗🥛☕👍👍👍👍👍

If you’re in the mood for a simple yet outstanding breakfast, this is the place to come eat at! I’ve lived in Sioux City my whole life and never once thought to try. I’m so glad I stopped in to check it out. I had Brian’s chicken chili omelette and wow is all I can say. I’m sure their other items are just as good! Staff was very friendly and welcoming! If you’re passing through town or a local please go check them out!

The building is older and definitely a trucker hotspot. Nothing fancy but clean is a must for me. 3 of our group ordered chicken fried steak on hashbrowns and eggs, all smothered in sausage gravy. It was a food coma I'd do again in a heartbeat. Great service! Great prices! Great meal! What more can you asked for.

Not sure what’s going on with this truck stop? As a driver I feel like the paid parking is going to wreck this place, seen it happen to a lot of places?Also the covid-19 is here to stay, open up the convenience mart to 24 hours & hire & pay some good employees & cooks!! My meal tonight was overcooked!! I’m usually very happy with your food, not this time!!!

Tradicional, cozy atmosphere and delicious dishes! But a plus is the service and unique pies that are served normally after noon however coffee is classic Colombian and waiters always take good care cup and orders! One of my favorites!
