I bought Sergeant's Skip-Flea shampoo to rid my cat of fleas. After a quick bath using the product, my cat began acting strangely and no fleas had died. Within an hour, she was paralyzed from the neck down, with sporadic seizures. I took her to the vet, who confirmed that her symptoms looked like poisoning caused by the shampoo, and did everything they could to fix her. Our beloved kitty's suffering continued for three days before she finally passed.I talked to the company multiple times, as did my sister and vet. They told all of us that the shampoo "does not typically cause those symptoms," but after reading the hundreds of horrible reviews on the product and Sergeant's company, I beg to differ. Their lack of compassion and responsibility is appalling and disgraceful. The fact that this product is still on the shelves and available to the general public is even more atrocious. The product does not advise to use gloves and recommends "no skin contact," but can someone please explain to me how to NOT get shampoo on the skin during a bath? Insanity! This could have happened to a human being, but because it was my cat, very little is being done by the company.A representative called online reviews "liars" and "fakes" when I asked if they had any plans to take this dangerous toxic product out of stores after all the negative reviews. This whole experience, including losing my pet and the way their customer service dealt with it, has been sickening and traumatic. No family should ever have to go through something so devastating, and customers' concerns certainly should not be ignored like this. They should not be selling any flea medicines. Those products should be off shelves. Do NOT support them. They have zero compassion for their consumers and do not take responsibility for the pain/suffering they cause.SHAME ON YOU, SERGEANT'S COMPANY!

I gave 3 dogs and 4 cats flea baths. My smallest cat had a reaction to the cat/kitten flea shampoo. 3 days later we had to have her put to sleep. I will NEVER use this product EVER again. The vets we spoke to said this happens all the time. I will tell everyone I know about this product. One person said we should have done a test on her first.RIGHT!!!!! If the product has this kind of reaction maybe only a vet should sell it. Not something sold off the shelf. It is easy to have off the cuff advise when it is not your pet that dies from the crap!!!!!!

Two weeks ago, I purchased Sergeant's Pet Care Products skip Flea shampoo at a grocery store because the hot weather caused fleas to overwhelm my cat. I really didn't feel like I had any other options at the time because it was late at night and my cat was uncomfortable and the vet and pet supply stores were closed. We read the bottle and used the recommended amount of shampoo to bathe our cat. Within an hour, our cat had a seizure. The seizure lasted several minutes. We frantically tried to find a vet, but by that time the seizure was over and she was doing somewhat better so we made an urgent care appointment the next day. At the appointment, the vet examined her and drew some blood for some tests and gave her some flea treatment because the shampoo did not seam to have killed any of the fleas. The vet sent us home since there was nothing more they could do at that point other than wait for the test results. They said they would call us the following morning with the results of the tests. Our cat did not make it through that night. This shampoo poisoned her and she died.I never would have suspected the cause and only found out when a friend of a friend saw my post on facebook that my cat died unexpectedly and asked me if I had recently used Sergeant's flea shampoo on her. When I told her I had, she then asked, if the cat had a seizure afterwards. What are the odds of two strangers having that same experience? It didn't sound common so I googled it. Not two. Not a few. Not a dozen, not a hundred. 763. I found SEVEN HUNDRED SIXTY THREE complaints on a variety of websites about cats that have had seizures and died of being treated with this shampoo. That doesn't mean there aren't more, that's just when I stopped looking.I went back to the grocery store today and told them I do not want to return the product nor do I want a refund, as I do not want it put back on the store shelf to be sold to another unsuspecting pet parent. Hartz brand sold a nearly identical product that has already been removed from the market. Sergeant's is currently involved in a lawsuit about this one. I do not plan to join it because I am not litigious and it will not bring my cat back.I asked to speak to someone who could help me get the store to stop selling this product. The friendly and accommodating customer service rep immediately had two managers come over to speak with me (and also gave me a refund.) I showed them my vet bill and a picture of my cat; and told them about my experience. They explained that because they are part of a large, nationwide conglomerate, they do not get to choose at the site level which products to stock, but that they would follow up with the purchasing manager to try.The customer service representative and both managers were very compassionate and empathetic, and I hope that this will have some impact, but I have worked for large companies before so I wont be surprised if nothing happens. I do, however, want to share my story, in hopes that some beloved fur family members may be saved. My cat was only 14. Cats typically live to be 25-30 years old. Not only did she die long before her time; I have to live with the knowledge that I caused her death myself, due to a product made by a well known and trusted pet care product company. Please do not use Sergeant's Pet Care products, they do NOT care about your family.

I purchased a calming collar for my cat. The product claimed to be a breakaway collar but that was far from the truth. My cat attempted to remove the collar and as a result the collar was wedged inside his mouth causing profuse bleeding and multiple cuts. Had I not been there, he would have most likely died. Do not use this product as the claims are false and should be reported to the USDA. Apparently other people experienced the same issue, yet the company continued to sell the product. Disgraceful.

I usually use the sentry purrscription flea medicine on all 5 of my cats and it has always been effective. But I think that the last 2 3-packs I bought may have been expired or just defective in some way. I do not wish to mention the store I bought it at, but feel I should in some way I should be compensated. Within a week the fleas were back, as if flea medicine was never used.

Update on the flea treatment DO NOT USE THIS PRODUCT, both cats started foaming profusely at the mouth mere minuets after applying the treatment. Talk about a scare , gave them both a bath per the advice of the emergency vet, they seem to be doing ok but keeping a close eye on them Incase I have to rush them in. This is a harmful product. Save yourself the heartache.

I purchased the 6 application pack of Sentry Fipro Guard for dogs up to 22 lbs on two different occasions. Both times more than half the package of applications was dried up when I opened the tube. The first time, I took the product back to the store and received 3 tubes to replace the ones that were defective.Flea and tick treatments are expensive and I chose this product because it has a better price. The second time, I called Sergeant's and they said they would give me a full refund but I have to mail them the original box and the unused product. I should get the refund within 4-6 weeks of them receiving the return. The gentleman on the phone was very polite, but I still feel that I have to go out of my way to receive my refund AND I have to pay for the shipping of the package for a product that was defective. I am quite annoyed.

DEADLY PRODUCTS BE AWARE!!!!!!!This company should at all cost be carted off to court...they are criminals. When you call you only get to the operator and she sends the calls nowhere. nobody wants to speak to you because they know their products do not work and they are scammers. Consumers please be aware and avoid buying products from this company as your pets will pay dearly for it. I wish there was a way to give them a red avoidance star but this is not an option. Please, Please everyone be aware...do your research and read the reviews of lasting pet damage to pets dying...be careful. Your pets do not deserve this treatment or heartache and neither do you or your family.

Their shampoo almost blinded my 4 year old ESA yorkie! After giving him a bath for the first time using the shampoo his eyes shut instantly and he was in pain. I had to take him to the vet because he couldn’t see and was in agonizing pain. Please be aware of this company and its products! I am so hurt to have to see my baby in pain like this because of your products!!! Thank you for my vet and their quick actions! I want your company to reach out to me ASAP and I also spoke to the hotline and sent an inquiry!

My friend bought the Silver flea and ticks product for me because I was broke.I used one on my cat and she started tremoring! It got worse then stopped. Thank GOODNESS. If she had died, you bet I would have used my lawyer to demand justice! To all who have lost their pets, I am so sorry. Hopefully Sergeant's will finally take it off the market.

We discovered rats, with rat fleas, were raiding my wifes' veggie garden. Trapped and exterminated the rats. Treated the 4 dogs, 3 Chihuahuas and a Siberian Husky, with Sergeants EVOLVE. This was 6 days ago. The Chihuahuas all got extremely sick, displaying disturbing neurological signs, seizures, vomiting, listlessness, itching, and severe ataxia. We took them all to the Vet, who advised us to NEVER use Sergeant's products for any kind of flea control, as this was an all to common problem they see and treat. The Husky, probably due to his size, and thick and heavy coat, did't have any obvious problem. All the dogs received aggressive bathing to remove as much of the product as possible, they required I.V. infusions at the Vets, have been taken back to the Vet for subcutaneus fluid infusions, and are not out of the woods yet. We will NEVER use anything from Sergeant's ever again, and I will be telling everyone I come into contact with about this experience with our animals being poisoned; since I work in health care, there are many, many, many people that I come into contact with. We have even spoken with a defective product attorney who is currently researching case law on this issue involving pets. Be warned, Sergeant's products could very well cause the death of your pet.

To sfsingh, it was in no way Sergeant's fault. You clearly stated that it had an allergic reaction. Maybe you should have gotten an allergen test, because I don't see how you could give such an amazing pet supply store such low ratings after an incident they could not control. It'd be different if it DIDN'T work, but obviously it's something they can't expect to happen. Maybe next time you get something, read the label. I love this place and have never had anything happen with my shiba pup!

DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT!!!!!!!!!!! I give this company NO stars! My 3 (THREE) cats are right now, currently as Im typing, at the animal hospital due to poisoning of this product! I treated all 3 of my babies with the silver seargents flea and tick removal and instead, it nearly killed them. One of my banies is currenly connected to IV fluids and being held for further examination. The other 2 are being treated with meds but still held for further examination. My current bill is over 600.00 for a medicine that only poisoned my animals. I will NOT let this go, this Will get investigated!

Ya'll should be ashamed of your products, especially ones that contain ingredients found in bug sprays such as raid. I have sen the animals that begin to have seizures as a result of taking your product, even though took it just like the directions said. To many people their pet is like a family member and I know that if I had personally been one of these people that this has happened to, I would go broke trying to sue ya'll. Now, I aint stupid, I know that yall will take this down so others will not see it, but I wanted you to know that I know what your products do to animals, and I will try my hardest to spread all over florida, which is where I live, not to buy any of your products, and who knows, if it causes a big enough impact, maybe the other states will follow. And to *****Patricia MacFarlane******* it cant be an allergic reaction that is causing this because it has happened to so many animals that the vets are telling people not to use any of Sergeants products on their pets.

Terrible products!! I used the Natural Defense Flea and Tick, my dog got a horrible burn from this "all natural" product. He was in so much pain along the track where the product was placed, and had red bloody open sores.

My cat, as well as others, reported seizure or seizure-like symptoms after using their products! There have also been deaths reported after use of their products! I implore people to try n save a few bucks more to buy from another company. I don't know why this company is still in business.

I just got off the phone with the rudest receptionist I have ever spoken to after trying to reach someone to talk about the fact that your flea medicine killed both of my cats. The last thing I need while trying to investigate whether or not I need to file a lawsuit over the deaths of my pets due to your product is a snarky, rude, lazy waste of space.
