I was going to keep quiet and leave no comments about my experience with Omaha handyman, but at six months or so after project completion I’m feeling dissatisfied enough to turn what would have been a four-star review into the fewest stars I could award.I hired Omaha handyman services to update flooring and a tile shower surround in my bathroom mid-year 2023.As of Feb 2024, the work has started to show wear and I am finding signs of poor quality, some that’s cost me more money to fix.At several points with tile, drywall, and general contractors coming in and out of my home they mentioned “sorry we had to bump your install day we were working on a contract for a million-dollar home”. Thanks, makes me feel valued and like my job is a priority!Long delays without contact frequently occurred, it made me feel like I needed to constantly be the project manager and advocate on my own project to get them finishing it.Several items that should be included with a shower remodel or possible up charges were totally not discussed or required me to make a stink to get them completed.• we tore out a shower surround down to studs. I had to push repeatedly to install new insulation, (~ $40 for materials. This wall will never be open again, why not do the extra minor work?• Despite detailing that I wanted new shower plumbing and a new cartridge in the wall tile folks were scheduled before plumbing tile guys showed up, looked and left. This replacement was completed, but again, I had to badger them to get it done and it took extra time without the one shower in my house.Update Post Installation:The tile surround has mortar in the corners of the shower that is cracking and falling out showing obvious gaps. I’m now concerned about water leaking behind my new tile. Any further touching just causes more to fall out.I purchased a new vanity to be installed atop my fresh bathroom tile. Cleaning this weekend, I found the sink was not hooked up correctly and there has been some water leaking into the wood of my new cabinet for six months post installationThe single biggest failure and major reason I am so upset is due to poor technique and damage Omaha handyman caused.In Feb 2024 I had a plumbing backup on my main line. I hired a drain company to resolve the issue. This contractor snaked out of the drain he found a round, plastic insert almost the same size as the pipe with the camera.Turns out it’s a cover, a piece of plastic that attaches to a new flange that was installed during my bathroom remodel that needs be removed before the toilet is installed. When Omaha Handyman re-installed the toilet this plastic insert out and it fell into my plumbing and wasn’t removed.This cap was inside plumbing for six months until it caused a mainline sewer back upMy plumber spent two hours using his snake and a lot of my water to slowly push this cap through 42 feet of cast-iron pipe to the street. I then spent two hours cleaning sewage out of my basement.If the cap couldn’t be removed. I’d have needed to descale ~42 feet of iron pipe to the street at about $100 per foot. $4200 extra bill for using Omaha Handyman. Luckily this wasn’t needed.A minor error by this contractor hurt us and could have been a catastrophic charge had good help not been on the job afterward.Hiring anyone to do a job is a gamble. You can choose two items of these three: fast, affordable, and good(quality).Based on the installation time I’d have said six months ago this group was affordable and good quality, but with the literal cracks showing I have to leave this one-star review and say it only feels cheap. Unhappy all around.

Omaha Handyman Services did a fantastic job helping me out with my home remodel. I had several big projects that I asked them to do for me, and they did each one of them professionally and for a great price - almost half the price of an estimate I received from one of their competitors. Also, with my house being older, several unexpected issues popped up during the remodel; and each time, Omaha Handyman provided me with cost-effective solutions that they were willing to take care of for me. Definitely recommend to anyone needing some help with any home project they may have, big or small.

Took a chance on a Google search after having a bad experience with a small business handyman service in the past. We are really glad we took that chance, because these guys have been super helpful! Their attention to detail and professionalism is awesome. We have had them out to do many jobs that we just can't take on including replacing our kitchen facet, fixed sinks that were draining slowly because of the pipe configuration, replaced a drip line block that had fallen off the house and we are going to ask them to come put in a ceiling fan. They were available quickly and their cost is super reasonable. Happy customers here with a honey do list that is dwindling.

UPDATE, 12/7/21: We used their services again to install a screen door. It looks great! We were initially worried that they wouldn't be able to install the door because of some wood work, but they fixed it in a way that the door could easily open and close. They are very professional and always go above and beyond.OMG, these guys are so good and fast! I highly recommend them.Our usual handyman we used, has a back injury (poor guy), so I called them to get a quote to find out how much it would cost to take down a patio awning. I called on a Thursday, they had someone out of Friday to give the estimate.My husband and I found the estimate to be fair, so we went with them... thinking the project would get done in the next 2 to 3 weeks. They were there on the Saturday after we got the quote!We will definitely be using them in the future!Service: General repairs

Their work pulled out of the wall a month ago. I called them and was told they would get back to me. Well Mom needs her safety bar so I contacted another service after waiting 3 weeks. It is done, OHMS's shoddy work left a damaged wall. Not a recommendation I would make.

We had 2 doors installed in our home. We were given solid advice on quality doors that had steel frames and were economically priced. They showed up and put in the doors and we instantly observed the difference. No mess left behind, all the debris completely removed - not even a need to sweep. The doors that we replaced were off tilt, we had no ideal how bad untill we compared the new product with the old. We have also had a job that we later needed to cancel. They were respectful of our time and understanding of our over-assessment of the work we needed done. Very understanding, I am not a handyman by trade and I often will over assess repairs needing done. With each engagement we have had we received candid assessments of the work that needs to be done. Furthermore very flexible with odd jobs which is a bonus! Will continue to use this business in the future. Omaha Handyman Services installed four toilets and replaced showerheads for us and we had a great experience. Nick and Quentin were professional, kept everything clean, were thorough, and worked quickly. Our big, anxious, not-easy-to-please dog that is scared of everyone even liked them, and that's the best review one can get! Nick and Quentin even came and worked on a Saturday when our original appointment had to be rescheduled. Omaha Handyman Services were easy to work with and even picked-up the replacement toilets from Lowe's when we didn't have a way to get them. They also offered to store them. I had a couple of areas of my houses that needed new drywall: a kitchen ceiling from removing an old fluorescent light, and two walls that had mold when I tore out built ins. Casey is very responsive and quickly did an estimate and got me on the schedule. The job was scheduled for 2-3 days, and took 3 (totally understandable considering the drying and sanding needed). The man who showed up to do the repairs was on time, courteous, and cleaned up after himself every day. Casey emailed me after the first day to make sure everything was going well. Part of the job included scraping the texture off the ceiling, which is a messy job. I wasn't surprised to find joint compound dust throughout the main areas of my house where he worked, and was still impressed by the amount of clean up he did, since the dust gets absolutely everywhere. I'm so relieved to have not have had to do this work myself, and very happy with the level of work Omaha Handyman did. The repairs are so smooth and well done! We hired Omaha Handyman Service to replace some can lights on the second story of our home (exterior). The wiring was already in place, the job was really just taking out the old bulb and can and popping in the new can. We actually did the first story ourselves, it was super easy. We got an estimate prior to having the work done and were told we would be charged by time at a rate of $125 for the first hour, and $85 for each additional hour. They estimated that that the job would take 2 people 30 minutes to complete, thus we would be charged for 1 hour of labor. The workers arrived on time and completed the job within the 30 minute window anticipated, and they even knocked on the door when they were finished to confirm the job was done. The install looks great, they did quality work. The reason I only give 3 stars is because we got the bill several weeks later and got charged $250. The bill we received did not break down their explanation of charges either (it was an invoice for 1 service "Electrical Can Light Install" rather than an hourly rate etc. which we had agreed to). I'm really disappointed that the bill was double the expected cost, and they were unwilling to budge. Although they did good work, I would not use this company again for handyman services due to their billing practices.
