Most reviews of Markus are now out of date as the stores new management has transitioned from a scaled down normal grocery store to a posh boutique like food store with pricing that you would expect in high rent parts of California.Last time I was in the produce looked very sad, for example all of the bananas were more brown than yellow. I have to think the pricing at 2-4x what safeway and super one charge leads to low turnover.

We love the store, but have now been consistently disappointed by the deli, and the quality of the sandwiches, particularly the ones that are premade. This used to be a great deli, but we won’t have another sandwich from there.

Cali prices for Montana locals. I just paid $8.99 for this... I'm a hard-working school teacher; these prices prevent me from shopping here more than I'd like to. :(

I neglected to take any pictures. I HIGHLY recommend this little grocery store in Whitefish. If you are a foodie it has a wide selection of several of my favorite things. Great Deli, lovely cheese selection, one of the best wine selections and beer, cider, seltzer etc. small selection of good quality produce. Most necessities that you need.

An amazing store.Staple items , gourmet foods, great beer and wine selections, and the deli has very good quality food. Everything you need for a day in the mountains in every season. Also good deals on seafood and meats. More expensive than big chains, but prices not ridiculous.

A fun selection of grocery items and local treats. A close walk from many air bnbs. Can’t say enough about the deli options and cheese selection. Had the best breakfast croissant of my life!

I almost never review places but I just gotta say the checking staff at this place is consistently stand-off-ish, some times to the point of being actively unfriendly. I don’t know if it’s just a workplace culture thing or what but yeah. Maybe don’t go here if your expecting a friendly exchange as part of your shopping experience.

After traveling around the country I've concluded this place has some of the most outrageous prices I've ever seen on some items (not all).Particularly price gouging was the price of kombucha. $6!!! You can buy a liter and a half of kombucha at some co-ops for that price.I have never known any store to have the audacity to charge anywhere near that much, and the price gouging doesn't end there.Many items are about twice the cost of anywhere else-including the co-op on 3rd st, a few blocks away, where the prices on most items are about half of Markus.I also bought a newspaper that I found out later that day was the previous days edition, so it's not like you're paying for a premium experience..although the deli is super clean and the overpriced deli food is pretty good.

Markus Foods is the BEST local market. They have high standards for the produce and meat departments. The beer and wine selection is vast and the best option in town. The deli always has a hot family style meal on weeknights. They have a little of everything and a decent chip, cracker, and cheese offering. For being a small store they exceed standards of the larger stores in town.

Markus is a staple in Whitefish and for good reason. Pig & Olive has made a fantastic addition to the store and the new overall look & feel of the store is impressive. If you take anything from this review let it be Pig & Olive, their sandwiches are some of the best in town and my go-to quick lunch spot or for a filling sandwich to bring with you on any day trip. Keep up the good work!

This the best little market store I have ever been in. We have stayed in Whitefish a number of times over the last few years so we always shop at Marcus almost every day. The beer selection is unbelievable, I stand at the beer cooler reading dozens of labels.before I make my purchase. Being from Canada with our retarded liquor laws Marcus is such a breath of fresh air. The fresh food they are always cooking smells so good.. It’s just a great store and we always look forward to shopping there. 5 stars and two thumbs up!

Love this store! Small market but still has a decent selection of stuff. The deli is awesome!! Their breakfast sandwiches/quesadillas are sooo good! Perfect if you need something quick on your way up the hill!

One of my very favorite places in all of Whitefish. Really wonderful and friendly staff. I stopped at the deli almost once a day. The beer and wine selection is on point for the size of the store. Definitely stop here if you are thinking about it.

Markus is great for picking up a few items, grabbing a quick bite from the deli or cold case, or doing your full blown grocery shopping. You can be in and out much faster than if you’d gone to a big box store, plus Markus now carries tons of new cool products including many from other local businesses. It’s worth a visit for the hot sauce selection alone. I’m so glad it is staying open during the remodel and can’t wait to see the new and improved deli section!

The thing that compelled me to write a review now is the eggs. A store like this should ACTUALLY have great eggs. We grabbed the Farm Fresh eggs which are twice the price of regular eggs. We grabbed eggs from "HALFMOON FARMS," and neither one of us have ever had an egg that was so pale. I can get eggs at the giant grocery store that have more color. My husband saw it but thought I was exaggerating but when he tasted the eggs after I made them the same way I do everytime for my family, he said they didn't have much taste at all. I could go on, but anyone who knows the difference in grass fed, grain fed, or half and half already knows. Test your product so you know when they've cut back on expenses. The worst eggs ever Markus Foods and even though they are from Halfmoon, I'm trusting you with your quality control. And NO, I'm not a granola tree climber. I just appreciate good, quality food.

I found Markus Foods to be a great (small business) grocery store to get provisions while in Whitefish, MT., on our spring snowboarding 🏂 vacation. A good selection of necessities and a friendly, helpful staff. I will definitely and gladly give them my business if we return to Whitefish next year.👌

Awesome grocery store, friendly people, great beer wine and coffee selection. I go here every time I'm in Whitefish. Especially appreciate their sour beers and compostable BioBags ;)

This is a great place to grab a quick something for you hotel or air b & b. We stopped in for wine and I wanted bags of tea. They had both. The wine selection was quite eclectic and some were quite pricey. This is also a drop of point for the nearby logs at whitefish hotel.

It's been around a while. Not your basic Market. The boys tell me they have a great deli! Chicken and ribs seem to be their favorite. That and the Elk meat sticks with cheese and jalapenos. I can't eat them because they have MSG. 4 stars because, who puts or even sells Elk meat with MSG in it?

Markus is my favorite store in town. I go here 1-4 time a day. It's the perfect mix between a mini Mart and a grocery store. Service is always friendly and fast and if you go there often and they don't carry an item you want you can request it and they'll start getting it regularly.

Best place in the Fish for beer selection and munchies. Also score some obscure treats like squid salad or beemans jerky. Go a little north to sister location Alpine Market if ya need all the same plus gas.

I have been visiting this small market since I was a little kid and it hasn't changed much. Great deli, amazing wine and beer selection, and decently varied selection of dry goods, produce, and meats. Actually, very good local meats.

Love this little shop. Alcohol selection is awesome. As is the rotisserie chicken. Prices are a little high so I don't get basics here unless it's convenient.

It's a bit more expensive but that's because it's handy & quick. My favorite is the smoked turkey with Havarti cheese. Have their deli make a sandwich for you. Good place to shop for beer & wine.

Always dushy cashiers at night. Was checking out tonight. Asked for a bag for my 4 items. Was told "o you want a hobo bag."Also I always get critiqued on what I am buying. Like I care what this looser thinks of the beer I'm buying. Could be a classy place but the evening help are McDonald's dropouts.

Markus is the heart and belly of whitefish....good deals on seafood, wine, imports, basics. Bulletin board is the spirit of the town. Friendly and interesting staff, fair prices for a convenience store.m
