I booked a guide trip and had an unbelievable day. This entire area is like Disneyland for fly fisherman. Noah was my guide and he was terrific. Super knowledgeable about the fish and the area. A legacy fishing guide! We fished 3 different rivers and caught sone really big rainbows.

What a phenomenal day on the Madison! Myself and my two sons, Cole and Ben, were blessed with an outstanding wade fishing day (well into double digits with largest landed a gorgeous 17” Rainbow!) and could not be more pleased with our guide, Noah! His knowledge of the rivers, tireless efforts to put us on fish and his attitude and energy are second to none. I have had guide trips all over the world and Noah and the Madison River team are as good as it gets. Can’t wait to come back and fish with this group again. A true blessing and catching fish was the cherry on top of a truly memorable gift of a day!

Went for a half day (first ever) fly fishing trip with Tom. Incredibly beautiful and fun experience - Tom was so knowledgable (also insanely patient) and kind and really made the trip an even better experience than we ever expected. We deeply regretted not signing up for a full day!

Waited a few days after the trip to post to be as factual as possible. Went fishing on Wednesday June 14th. Outfitters shop and check-in: great, helpful, friendly. Lunch: good and as selected. Scenery: it’s Yellowstone, it’s breathtakingly beautiful. Guide: nice and friendly. Fishing: this is where the 2 stars come in. You save up and pay that kind of money to be taken to the hot spots, know what kind of flies to use, and to be put on the fish. With 3 adults fishing all day, one small fish was caught and very little action beyond that. Everything you read talks about going to the Firehole this time of year. After several hours of not much action, when I asked about that location the guide said he wasn’t a fan and didn’t have much luck there a few days ago. I can’t imagine it was any less than what we were having. There was also an unnecessary unpleasant experience near the end of the trip. So, if you want a friendly person to accompany you on an amazing scenic view while fishing and don’t care about catching fish, this may be for you. If you are actually interested in catching fish, as we were, and you have access to the equipment and know how to tie a fly, you could do just as well without paying for a guide and have our same experience. You could fish all day to catch one little fish and not pay over $800 for that same experience.

Hugh and Tyler were great! Very helpful picking out flies and even tossed us an extra can of bear spray they had laying around, I’d definitely recommend this place to anyone visiting!

What a great day on the Madison. This is our second year with Noah as our guide. He is so much fun, has extensive knowledge and is incredibly passionate about fishing! We will be back next summer!

If I could give more stars, I would! My husband and I traveled to Montana last week to celebrate his birthday in Yellowstone, and booked an all day float trip with Madison River Outfitters. Start to finish, it was an ::awesome:: time. John booked our trip for us, and was awesome with getting us our non-resident fishing license. My husband asked about hiking trails, and John took the time to email us some hikes around the park.Our guide was Mike, and he was excellent - highly recommend him. We fish a lot, but we don't have the chance to fly fish in a river since we don't live near one with easy access. Mike was incredibly patient with us both while teaching us the proper technique and fixing some bad habits we'd both developed. Mike is super personable, and it felt like we were just fishing with a friend - the whole day was the highlight of our trip!

Went on a full day walk and wade trip with Madison River Outfitters. We ended up going out with Mike and he was fantastic. We were new to fly fishing and he spent a bunch of time helping us with casting techniques and talking me through tips and techniques for the future. I was really impressed. Plus Mike was just a fun guy to hang out with. Not to mention we caught a ton of fish. I thought it was a bit odd that we payed a bit extra for flies. I have never seen that before with other guided trips but Mike was so fantastic I can't rate this less then 5 stars.

Jake and Noah were awesome! This was our first time fly fishing and they were great teachers! They told us all about the area. We caught brown trout, rainbow trout and white fish. Great lunch provided. Got some flies to take home too! Highly recommend a full day float.

If I could give more than 5 stars I would! Garrett was our guide and was so skilled. MRO does everything for you, just show up and they have a lovely catered lunch, so many skills to learn and all the equipment. "The tug is the drug" gosh the feeling of a fish on is amazing. Highly recommend for a family, our son is 14 and is hooked! Truly the best MRO. Thanks for the memories.

I booked a day's guided fishing in Yellowstone through MRO. As a fly fishing newbie I needed all the help I could get. My guide Garrett Cook couldn't have been nicer, more knowledgable or patient (he had to constantly re-rig from my casting mistakes. It was easy booking the engagement over the phone and those I spoke with were very helpful and knowledgable.I highly recommend MRO to those looking for a guided fly fishing experience.

Called to get information on the red rock creek out of hellroaring, which is about a 30 min drive from west Yellowstone and an awesome fishing destination if your looking for cutthroat.The manager informed me it was closed, which for a fact is not... Chris, manager of the Yellowstone location- grab a map, as a manager and a guide to a fly shop you need to know your surrounding area.Welcome to Montana.
