We adopted our 10 month old puppy a week ago from TRACS in Thompson Falls MT. The owner (an animal angel) met us in Sandpoint to pick up our puppy. The owner and staff do an amazing job giving these animals the best experience ever, before going to their permanent homes.

My roommate and I found a dog online that we wanted to try and adopt. We drove a few hours to go see them. I also have dogs and the shelter insisted we bring them with us to make sure they get along. The breed that she was listed as was clearly wrong but at least she was the right size. She has some behavioral issues as well that were not mentioned. We adopted her that day and took her home to find out that she had kennel cough. Both of my dogs then got kennel cough. We called them and they said they knew that most of the dogs there have kennel cough. So we had to spend a lot of money just trying to get them all treatment. The facility wasn't great. The staff were nice but I wouldn't ever adopt there again.

We got our new little 4 legged darling Mona from them on Sunday. I was a long drive but Mona was well worth it. She's a bit nervous and shy, but is getting along well with her new sisters.I would definitely use this organization again. The do good work.

Great place! Obviously care about the animals in their care. Easy to deal with, made the adoption process easy and great to answer any and all questions they possibly can. Took really good care of us and our new BFF! We all enjoyed adoption day!! 💖💕🐶💕💖

My experience with this animal care shelter. Is there very caring and do their best to find Animals their forever home? I adopted my labradoodle there 3 weeks ago.

I’ve adopted 2 mixed terrier dogs from you over the last four years, they have both settled in very well and have become my fur baby companions

Such a great rescue! Lots of volunteers! They work with a volunteer pilot organization to transport rescues from other states to their facility. Very professional. Clean facility. Well cared for rescues. We adopted from them and couldn't be any happier!

They were willing to travel to meet us, so that was very kind and considerate of them! We adopted a puppy born within the shelter, and although he is a SWEETHEART, we were told that he'd been treated for his kennel cough and that the cough he had was just residual and that he'd been on antibiotics. However, we took him to the vet and not only did he still have kennel cough, but also pyoderma from unsanitary conditions. The people we spoke with were very kind, but just be aware that there may be some health issues with the dogs adopted out and be ready to drop some money for medicine immediately.

I really don’t want to bash the team that is doing such awesome work, but I want other people to have an idea before they get too invested. I was interested in a dog that I was told was “3 years old; a delight; and would be a great fit in our home”. So we made the 2 hour drive with our toddler to meet the dog. When we got there, we knew right away she wasn’t what we were lead to believe. The woman I had been in contact with about meeting her had never even met this dog. She was also much younger and WAY more energetic than we were told. The employees were nice and introduced us to a few more dogs while we were there, but none of them fit the list of what we were looking for. Now we are out a non refundable $150 for a dog that wasn’t even the correct description. Hopefully the shelter can put it to good use, seeing as how we found a dog somewhere else and won’t be using TRACS. Again, the people we talked with were all very nice, but it was a huge disappointment and overwhelming experience.

The lady I encountered when I first entered the building was very helpful and kind. She stated that she was going to call the manager because there was a by appointment only, that I did not know about. The manager entered the room very forcefully walked past sat down at the computer and asked me what dog I was interested in. My reply was and let me tell you why my reply was that way but my reply was that I was there to look for a dog to adopt and that I didn't know exactly what one. And my reason is is that I guess what I'm looking for a lifelong companion I'm not looking to see if they fit or match the color of my shoes my wife's handbags or any other reason. I don't know why a adoption center would limit your choices to dogs that you've only seen a picture of. And if you choose to adopt a dog my question is then do you fill out the application and then only get to meet that dog what if you don't like that dog are you then having to fill out another application. In closing I'd like to say I got a very bad vibe from this establishment.

I know this is a tough situation for all concerned. I was given faulty information, and drove 5 hours on one day ro pick up the dog. She wasn't as advertised when I took her home overnight. Sometimes behavior cannot be predicted, but she definitely wasn't the breed they told me, and she had a significant prey drive, which was also misrepresented. I had to bring her back the next day, another 5 hour round trip. Was tough on the dog and on my family. They seem to have better luck/outcomes (based on these reviews) when dealing with smaller dogs...?

We adopted two bonded sister a few years ago. The dogs were healthy and have become a part of our family. Thompson River is very reputable and truly care about the animals. I highly recommend finding the next member of your family here.

I went to look at a dog that was suppose to be 35lbs and a border collie mix. I called about him but they were not taking phone calls. They text me I set up an appointment I got there and he was 70 lbs and clearly had pit in him. I drove over an hour. They knew I was in an apartment . So I looked around and found a puppy I adored. I kept checking with them about her and was told to check back in 2 weeks . I was looking so forward to getting her. Got everything she would need . I text them after two weeks and was told that she was given to another home. Friend of the owner and that they just found out. I wish they would have told me that right from the beginning. I wouldn't recommend them to anyone. Not a very nice thing to do to someone. I will start my search again but not with them.

Wonderful experience!! Adopted our very first puppy from TRACS. I put in an adoption application one day and was holding a puppy the next.Everyone working at the rescue was very kind and helped answer all of my nervous first-time-puppy-parent questions. I am fully supportive of their work and definitely recommend.

Renee and verna both helped me with adopting a very poor dog that came to their shelter. They were both so quick to respond and so helpful. I couldn't have asked for a better adoption process and will definitely be back in the future. We love our new family member. The staff we met the day of pic up all were so friendly also it felt more so comfortable to go and adopt there and the adoption process was so smooth

They clearly care deeply about rescuing animals. They saved my little guy from being euthanized in another shelter he was at in Texas that was too crowded. They flew him (and others) from that shelter up here to Montana, in which then I noticed him on their website and went and adopted him. Thank you TRACS! Would adopt from here again and recommend to others!

Such a wonderful place!! These people do such good things.....and we rescued another pup!!! It was obvious he was neglected and abused, he was cowering when we met. We bonded instantly however, and as soon as he met Inga, his new big sister, he was 100% puppy again!!! Feels like we are a complete family again with 2 pups. Thank you Tracs!!!

I wish I could rate this place higher because I really respect what these guys are doing but I have to be honest the place is a dump. A while ago my family and I went to go look at a few dogs and ended up adopting one. While we were hanging out with the dog we adopted we noticed he was limping and asked about it and they said that they had no idea about it. They also went on to tell us that they weren’t able to spend time with the animals to make them feel more comfortable or get to know them which is odd because you’re an animal rescue??? We adopted the dog anyways and took him home and the next day to the vet to register him. Come to find out this dog has a fractured leg, they lied about his age by saying he was 1 when he is 4-5 and several other things. Once again it’s really great what they do, however they need to have more people to spend time with these animals.

We got our first dog from them 3 weeks ago and didn't tell us of any of the problems the dog had. We just got a second one from there and it was listed at $22500 but Irma insisted it was $250.00 plus she said we had to buy one of their harnesses ($20.00) even though we had our own. They gave us a small bag of food and we found a note in the bag of food that the dog has digestion and skin problems. They said nothing again about this dog having any problems. They in total wanted $45.00 more then we had planned for.Beware: they won't take a dog back nor return your money even though they have the highest prices in the state and the worst care, knowledge, and PR. Don't get a dog from them because you won't get what they put in information about the dog.

Wanda is absolutely wonderful and had all the paperwork and shots all ready and completed for crossing the border to Canada. The property they shelter these animals are at is wonderful, they own 6 dogs of their own, but it is far from overcrowded. Such an amazing experience adopting my little Gordie who had such an amazing start to his life with Wanda and TRACS.

Unfortunately, I can't recommend a shelter whom receive high risk aggressive dogs with bite risk and adopt them out to families with children. This dog in my care was surrended to me after she bit the prior owner and attempted to attack a child. She has attack me like a razor. She certainly must have been sedated to be handled upon adoption. Her paper said available "NOW!" as if this facility knew she was aggressive and wanting her out of their facility after 2 days of arrival. Please be very careful about your choices and be sound if adopting from TRACS.

Saving animals from euthanasia! Staff were super responsive and working their tails off. I should have asked what supplies they needed from Missoula before I drove over....

Thompson River Animal Care "TRACS" is the WORST! They DO NOT even attempt to rehabilitate or work with the dogs in anyway or even temperament test them They throw them in a kennel and that's it! They put up a cute pix in hopes you get fooled into adopting. They have the highest rescue prices in the state. No refunds or trading for another dog.The dog I got from them was full of lice and had kennel cough. It was not house broken, knocked over the garbage, tore up my carpet and was vicious. It bit my friend and attacked other dogs and cats.Buyer be where! There is a reason theses dogs were abandoned and should be rehabilitated before being adopted!TRACS will say the don't have the funds or staff to rehabilitate, but really if they cant do it right don't do it at all!!

My hat is off to the great staff at the shelter for the care they give to these animas as they pass thru their hands. I adopted Jester (new name..Rambo) in August of last year. He was a year old stray from Arizona. He quickly went from a fearful 5 lb.little one to a healthy 6.5 lb. confident boy who walks three miles a day, taken up cross country skiing and is a avid hiker. Loves to cuddle and minds like he never knew any different. To all the staff....thank you for my little ball of fire👍❤

This pathetic place of a animal shelter deserves zero stars. I submitted an application online for an adoption of one of their dogs and was completely ignored by this place. They NEVER took the initiative to contact me on the application and IGNORED my voicemail and email to them on the application i submitted. It's absolutely appalling that they couldn't communicate with me on the dog they had available, nor did they offer to help me find another dog to adopt! If this is how unprofessional and detached they are with people interested in providing a good home for the animals, I can just imagine the neglect and lack of compassion they give to the poor animals in this shelter seeking a forever home. I would not recommend you wasting your time with this place! There's so many other wonderful, compassionate animal shelters in the area that operate with integrity and pride in helping connect people with finding their forever friend and getting good homes for the animals. It's a shame and a disgrace that this place doesn't operate on those principles!!

Wonderful experience with TRACS! We fell in love with Hewitt (presently Limón/Mr. Gooby) through their website, and we were happily driving home with him a few days later. They made everything easy and fun, and they clearly care for the pups very much.

TRACS handled our adoption professionally and had good tips for acclimating our new puppy. They were kind and warm and we felt comfortable adopting from them. Thank you TRACS!
