Placid Lake State Park is a small public day use recreation site on Placid Lake, featuring picnic tables and a fishing dock.Accessibility info and site description: To find Placid Lake State Park, travel on Hwy 83 north of Missoula or south of Seeley Lake, and turn west at the signs. Go straight past the Placid Lake State Park campground and follow the small picnic table sign ahead. Drive 1.6 miles through a residential area, and on the left you'll find the small day use area. The main parking lot can hold around 5 cars, and there is a narrow van accessible spot with a paved path that connects to the accessible restroom. There's a small wooded area with a few picnic tables scattered around, and a short paved path that goes down to the fishing dock.I want to point out that all the information listed online for this state park (including FWP, Visit MT, and stateparks.com) is actually information about the campground. The campground does not have a day use area. The actual state park day use area is almost two miles from the campground and is very small. But the good thing about a small state park is that it requires much less walking! It's a beautiful lake with mountain views, and this spot is tucked away from busy roads and crowds. It's also the only public day use site on Placid Lake. As long as you adjust your expectations before visiting and know this is not a large or fancy location, I think it can be a very enjoyable spot!

Pure heaven if you are looking for a place to boat, camp, hike, pick huckleberries, bike ride, or fish.. Just a few ideas for an amazing getaway. The lake is beautiful, warm and not extremely large. You can pick huckleberries right off the main roads in the summer.. Go explore and visit this little gem in Montana.

Placid Lake was a nice area. Nice warm lake. A little out of the way but I guess that’s okay when you’re camping. The paid shower thing needs to go though. 1.00 for three minutes.

Lovely watersport lake in Montana. We stopped for an overnight on our way to Glacier NP. No hookups, but a nice campground with plenty of space & privacy. Fishing, jet skis, boats & a nice little campground beach. This view is from the boat ramp

Nice and clean. Electrical for the RV is a plus! It $13,00 a night for Montana residents who are seniors. Can't beat it.Restrooms: Vault toilets are clean. The restrooms with showers are closed in the fall. They are usually very clean.

End of the season, quiet, fall colors, light wind; power at site still on. Nice and clean.

Nice State Park with access to Lake Placid. Upper loop has electrical hookups. Sites are a bit close in some locations, but generally has nice sitting areas with fire pits.

While this is an excellent place to camp, it's even better in the fall with lovely weather (this week anyway) and some nice fall colors.

Beautiful Lake. Not great for trailers, unless you want to disconnect. Only one pull through spot. Very busy during the summer.

22/10 Park was great. Time of year benefit is a lot of spaces to choose from. Check your maps. Then - plan a bit more travel time because our RVs were better at 25MPH.

Very small camping spots, not much accessibility to swimming/paddle boarding. Only a small 'beach' area. Definitely not a camp ground to have dogs. Very nice campground hosts though.

The lake was beautiful, the hosts quite pleasant. However... site 7 was in dire need of some leveling. The only level area was where a person would park an RV.... we had a large tent and couldnt put it on the grass. The area around the table and fire ring was very sloped and hard to sit there. Neighbors that partied till 3 a.m. were not conducive to sleep. Its bear country so everything had to be put back in the van... even bottled water and my camp stove I hadnt used. It was tedious.

Lots of privacy between camp sites. There are bushes surrounding camp sites. There are more ground critters here than there are at Lake Salmon.Way off a major road, so no road noise. Quiet. There are developed trails along the Lake, real nice ones, but they are not long.Amphitheatre available but didn't see events posted hosted by the Forest Rangers. I love that kind of stuff so i'm hoping I just didn't see it. There is a nice boat ramp and extra parking available.Didn't camp there this trip but will try it next time.Lake Salmon very nice, but literally off the main road so lots of trafficLake Seeley is undergoing a clean up so piles and piles of trees and bushes (summer 2019) not pretty, nervous of snakes, critters and ticks. The piles are in and amongst camp sites. Maybe if all cleared by summer 2020 it'll be nice.Lake Seeley is also a very populated park because of the super cool beach.Thst beach though is crazy busy too.

Stayed at the designated bicyclist group site with some friends. Nice that they have built accommodations specifically for people on a bike tour. There is a firewood vending machine here as well-- a novel and amazing contraption that spits out bundles of wood-- truly a sight to behold.

If you are in a class A/C motor home there are lots of dirt/washboard roads leading to the campground that really beat you up driving more than 10/15 mph

Nice camp ground with well setup boat dock and slips. Beautiful lake and great swimming area. Campsite 12 is nicely setup but doesn't get shade during the hottest parts of the day.

Nice campground. Not sure I can recommend it because children run wild and the hosts won’t intervene. Several time, groups of kids rode bike through our campsite. One almost knocked me down. Too bad, we really hoped it would be peaceful

Really awesome state park campground. We'll definitely be back. Amenities are great including hot showers and clean facilities. The swim beach is great for young kids and the access to the lake is great.

The lake was amazing, the surrounding area breathtaking and the road to get there was well maintained. The campgrounds were clean and so were the restrooms. I am already planning my next visit to Placid Lake.

Beautiful area. The lake mostly lived up to its name but there was a lot of wind on a couple of days of our vacation. Camp hosts and managers were great and the facilities were well cared for.
