This place was awesome. I got the french dip and the meat was just cut off a prime rib. It was awesome!!! I’ve marked this place so that I can recommend it to others in the area and so I can return next year. Great atmosphere also for just hanging out. They have some service things to work out but the food was great and lots of potential. Highly recommended

The service was okay. The waitress was nice, made sure we had refills. The food however…. I ordered a pizza and it took a long time to be brought out. We heard the cook screaming from the back, complaining about the orders coming through and using foul language. The pizza came out and looked like an oil spill. Pools of oil were covering the pizza. It tasted worse than it looked. All I could taste was the sheer amount of oil on this pizza. The cheese had no taste, the sausage had no taste. It was gross.

I can't say enough about this establishment. If you're around this area, it's worth the drive. When Gardiner didn't have pizza at the pizza place and was closing early we drove to this place and hit the jackpot. We are a family of seven and were treated like royalty. The customer service was super, the food was delectable, and the atmosphere was just what you'd imagine rural Montana to be!The pizza was great and so were the Philly cheese steak, and onion rings.

We got the bison burger and the pizza and lots of onion rings. The onion rings were phenomenal! Very big but easy to eat without falling apart. They weren’t heavy or greasy or soggy. The New York style was on par for the New York pizza I had in NYC. The bison burger was cooked right and juicy with really fresh ingredients. We got our food super fast! They were very friendly and answered all my million questions that I had about the menu.

We heard in town between miles away it's the best pizza around so we thought we better go it was really good pizza generous with the toppings. Service was great we both got a salad and only got a small amount of dressing that was probably all I really needed but you may want to ask for a second helping of dressing. The decorations were great. Mainly stuffed animal heads and Western items.

Fantastic! Pizza crust was crisp with the right amount of chew. I had the veggie, no cheese, plus sauerkraut and sriracha. It was great. A few in our party ordered the gluten-free crust. After discovering they had sold out, they whipped up GF shrimp tacos that were fabulous. Good selection of draft beer and the bartender made a nice Old Fashion. We were in Chico on a Tuesday night and looking for something within 20 miles that was less than $100 a person. This was about the only choice and we were so glad we ended up there.Vegetarian options: The thin crust held up to lots of veggies very well. Try it.Dietary restrictions: They have a vegetarian pizza on the menu and we’re happy to serve it without cheese to make it vegan. They worked with two in our party to provide a gluten-free option since they were out of cauliflower crusts.

Can I give it more stars??? We happened upon this place on our last day in Montana and ended up staying about 5-6 hours!! The people were beyond friendly. The owner, Chuck, was helpful and informative. The bar staff was fun. We created a new drink—just ask for the Eliza—named after the bartender who was doing a fantastic job on day two. There was a pool table you had to pay for but we didn’t mind. We played the TouchTunes jukebox and ate some really great food. Everything from pizza to fancier pastas, burgers, etc. We all bought matching merchandise to commemorate the occasion before we left. Totally enjoyed the location, the view of the mountains and the people. Hopefully we can go back!!!!

We were in Pray, Montana the first part of October. During the week, many of th restaurants are closed due to the end of season. Emigrant Outpost was open so we have them a try. The atmosphere is cozy like you've lived here all your life. I ordered the Ribeye and my wife had the veggie pizza. The steak 🥩 was what I expected out of Montana beef. Delicious and cooked to perfection. I can even tell the difference in quality from Arkansas beef and Montana beef. The ribeye was $33 and seating was limited due to everyone coming here. We got lucky. Also, just like any restaurant during covid, they were short staffed but the wait was well worth the cozy conversations and the sounds of the locals at the bar. Highly recommend.

My husband and I traveled from Florida to Montana for our honeymoon. We stayed at a near by air bnb and came to the Outpost for dinner and drinks our first night and everything was amazing! You have to try the whole spear fried pickles and try some of Montana’s local whiskey. We got the Reuben sandwich and Philly cheesesteak and both were amazing. The atmosphere was great and the staff was very friendly.

Stopped in after a day at the park. This place had gotten good reviews so we decided to try. Did not disappoint. The bartender/server Chad was awesome and Shannon, the magic behind the food, came out and asked how everything was. Bison burger with bacon was delicious. Garlic fries and onion rings, some of the best. Full bar, pool table, and good music. Will definitely be back!

A rustic Western saloon vibe makes this a fun restaurant. The service is usually good. I really liked the pizza here, but they do not always have it available. They don't serve pizza on Mondays and then they only have it after 2:30, if the cook shows up. We drove 30: miles to get here, and it has been frustrating to show up wanting pizza and it's not available. They suggested we call ahead. We tried, and no one answered the phone. Other dishes that a very good are the fish and chips with tater tots and hamburgers. Our friends really like their salads. I referred one friend here, and was disappointed to hear they were treated rudely. We have always had good service and enjoy coming here.

A great bar with a kitchen. Our food was great. Our server was challenged with running the entire front of the house and managing the business at the same time. She was a fantastic multi Tasker and host. The cook was a fun character as well. The location is off the main road just a little, so you will have to be looking for it. Highly recommend in this area of choices for eats and drinks.

This was one of the best pizza i have ever had, and i have ate a lot of pizza in my day. The crust is to die for and the Chicago Italian sausage is heavenly. The staff is wonderful and the vibe is great. Do yourself a favor when youre close by and come experience it.

Wow! Super impressed. Staying at Sage Lodge & stopped in for dinner one night. 5 star service! Our waiter was really personable. Food was truly excellent & extremely reasonably priced (better than Sage)!

A great place to stop on the way out to Yellowstone. All the food was delicious. They was a very small crowd in the place at the time. They had some slots and a bar as well if you are interested in that kind of stuff.

The Outpost is a pleasant suprise in this small town although slightly off the beaten path. But less than a mile from the Emigrant intersection, turn East towards the Sage lodge and s you round the curve slightly left after crossing the river, there it sits in the right. Indoor or large outdoor seating. Plenty of parking. Gotta try their pizza, best in the area and all their food is good with variety of beers, wine and liquor. A "locals" bar & restaurant and all are welcome.Parking: There is a large gravel parking area and plenty of room.

Starting off with the good: food was good! Outside patio had a beautiful view. The bad: waited on ourselves. The employee working told us to come in to put our order in when ready. We walked in and waited for 15 minutes just to put our order in. We then had to wait another hour for our food. In the meantime, one of the employees took two different smoke breaks right outside on the patio, sharing the aroma with all of us customers.
