Delighted we stopped here! We saw signs in the highway and decided to stop. It's a beautifuly done interpretive center with lots of information about Lewis and Clark and their stops along the Yellowstone and Missouri rivers.Truly a diamond.. Well worth the slight detour!

This small park is well worth a stop. It is the only location along Lewis and Clark's long journey of Discovery that they left physical evidence they were there: Clark carved his name and date of visit in the rock of the "pillar". There is a boardwalk that takes you up to the top of the rock and offers a nice view of the Yellowstone River. Nice visitors center as well.

Such a fun stop! It's not far off of the exit. There are picnic tables, a walking area, a museum inside and a gift shop. If you walk in the trees wear bug repellent, the mosquitoes want to feed off of you.

I have never "reviewed" a visitor center before, and I have visited hundreds of national parks and monuments, but I was truly struck by the visitor center at Pompeys Pillar. It is new, it is clean, it is stocked with interesting goodies (including everything you will need to mail your package!), and the staff is the friendliest and most outgoing I have ever encountered. The interpretive material about the site is great and complete, and far more than I had expected.I came to this site with a mild interest in it, knowing vaguely about it and its relevance to the Lewis and Clark expedition. Thanks to the Bureau of Land Management and its expertise in managing the site and its interpretation, I came away with a far greater understanding of this site's significance, and how precious and rare it is (the "pillar" contains the only remaining tangible evidence of the expedition). Thanks to the BLM staff and volunteers for your great work and spirit in maintaining this site!

My Mom, kids and I all had a great time. We went early in the morning and beat the heat. My kids really enjoyed the activities in the Jr. Ranger book and became certified Jr. Rangers. My mother and I thoroughly enjoyed the more detailed history lesson.

Stopped om a whim, and glad we did! $7 entry fee...It smells SO GOOD here! STUNNING views and the boardwalk built to climb to the top and to William Clark's carved name is nicely built and easy to climb. Breathtaking views ftom the top and the river side. Mosquitoes were active. Be sure to stop into gift store and pick up insect repellent wipe for about $1.20. Interactive center was easy to navigate and very informative.

Great place in history. One of only a few National Monuments not run by the National Parks Service, this is run by the Bereau of Land Management. They closed off the stair case so we could not climb up but it was still worth a stop for us.

Incredible piece of history. Be careful during hunting season, portions of the parks entry way (when main gates are closed) are hunting land. Wear high viz! Walkway up to pompey's pillar is out of commission for repairs. november 2020

We saw the sign as we were driving to Theodore Roosevelt NP. We were glad we stopped! The facilities are beautiful and to see signature of Clark and some of the other members of the expedition was awesome!

An unexpected visit on our way home. The visitors center had a great interpretive center! Great history and exhibits. I particularly liked the Missouri river and tributaries that are etched in the concrete from inside the building to the parking lot.

Who knew this was such a cool place! So happy we stopped to visit. Visitors are greeted by marmots and prairie breezes in the picnic area. The interpretive center offers lots of historical information and the staff is knowledgeable and friendly. A great place to stretch the legs. It's a short hike up stairs but well worth the view! Thank you!

Much to see. The one spot to actually "See" the passing and exploration of the Lewis and Clark expedition.. the boardwalk is great. Our Grandchildren enjoyed it. Friendly knowledgeable staff, volunteers and Rangers. More people should try to share in this, our history. 🇺🇸

Beautiful park. Great visitors center with info on Lewis and Clark's journey. Several short films on different aspects of their journey. The one on medical treatments is especially interesting. It's amazing they survived the cures! Stairway to Clark's signature is not bad, can continue up to top of pillar. Staff in visitors center/gift shop were very helpful and informative. Well worth the stop
