We had an amazing experience here! Michele, Rick, and their staff are truly great. We will come back again as soon as we have the opportunity, and then again after that.Rooms: Very clean and the bed was super comfy.Nearby activities: Skiing and camping.Food & drinks: The Cougar Canyon bar is cozy and friendly.Noteworthy details: The heated pool and hot tub were right outside our room. We had A LOT of fun!

Rick and his staff are absolutely phenomenal!!My fiancé and I were in the area hunting in the mountains last fall when a snow storm rolled in a pushed us out of the mountains early one morning. Rick was able to accommodate us while we figured out a new game plan. All of the bar tenders were so personable, chatty, kind, and their service was above and beyond. The room was everything we could have needed - clean, warm, tv, well stocked with breakfasts, coffee, and towels. Reggie, the house keeper checked in with us frequently to make sure we didn't need anything, and if we did he was very prompt in getting it for us. We will be back there again this fall and are looking forward to seeing everyone again!!Food & drinks: The attached Bar and Grill were great!! The burgers and beer HIT THE SPOT after a long day of hunting!!

We arrived shortly after 7pm. The owner greeted us, showed us our room, and offered to have the chef cook us a meal even though the kitchen was closed. They brought the food and wine to the room. I got the tenderloin steak, which they said they cut themselves, and it was absolutely excellent. Incredible hospitality, and a wonderful meal — much needed after a long journey. To receive such great service after arriving late is spectacular. I only wish we could’ve stayed longer!

We stayed here a month or 2 ago and we were very happy with the accommodations. Bed was comfy, room was clean and staff were great. We stayed in room 12. We came back last night and we were in room 9. It was very hot in the room so we tried to put turn the air conditioning unit down to 75 from 79. At that point the air conditioner would go into high gear or something every 5 to 10 minutes. It sounded like a frieght train so after listening to it for about an hour we finally gad to set it back to 79 and open the window. Needless to say it was so hot in the room that niether of us got more than a couple hours of sleep. Also the fan in the bathroom was making a horrible racket when ever it was left on for more than a few minutes. Had we not been so exhausted we would have left during the early hours of the morning. We are very disappointed since Monarch has become a favorite place to get away for a night or 2. I hope you can get everything fixed and up to par in room 9.

We stayed at Cougar Canyon Lodge after a wedding in White Sulphur Springs. We were very disappointed from the beginning as we had to check in with the woman tending the bar and there was nothing giving us directions on how to check in or where. We got into our room and it hadn't been fully cleaned. There was dried urine on the toilet seat (top and bottom), there was barely a half of a roll of toilet paper and no soap for the shower or sink. We did enjoy a great meal and a couple of drinks at the bar and received great service. The pool wasn't operational, which was a bummer but we did spend some time in the hot tub. When we were searching for somewhere to stay, the website had mentioned breakfast foods and things of that nature, but when we went to utilize those, they were nowhere to be found. The fridge/freezer in our room had two bottles of water and 2 juice boxes and the refrigerators in the main lobby were stocked with bottled water and nothing else. We went to check out at about 10 am and there was nobody around for us to check out with or give our key to, so we just left it in the room and called later. All in all, Cougar Canyon sufficed for a quick one night stay, but was definitely not worth the $120 we paid.

If you don't stop for a bite to eat while you're in the area, you are missing out! Exceptional homemade eats! The owner and staff were friendly and take time for a friendly chat despite being short handed. Highly recommended!

First of all, when we arrived our reserved and paid for room was already booked. We had to take a down grade. The owner said our drinks would be comped to make up the price difference. That didnt happen!Maybe a third of a roll of toilet paper in the room. No extra rolls. One bath towel. The frozen breakfast sandwiches and juice that they seem to brag about a lot were not in the room. Although the caretaker was able to put down his 12th beer and get us some towels.Dinner was a tragedy! The walleye was swimming in at least a half inch of butter pooled up on the bottom of the plate. The mashed potatoes tasted like they had taco seasoning mixed in! When this was brought to the servers attention she remarked very rudely "in five years no one has ever said the walleye wasnt excellent"!The bartenders were slow and clueless! The bands were awesome though!

I rated this 3 stars as it has GREAT potential! The food ( pan-fried walleye) was very, very good, though the restaurant would benefit from tablecloths and candles. Good wine. The bar is less than fancy, but serviceable for cowboys, snowmobilers, skiers, and beer drinkers. The host was extremely accommodating and gave us discount vouchers for ski passes. They uncovered the hot tub and pool just for us. Our room needed some upgraded decor (matching bedspreads, an additional headboard, and new curtains), but generally speaking it was clean and comfortable. Perhaps the bathroom could use new linoleum and hooks or bars to hang towels. It was a little expensive ($128), but there were 3 of us in one room, so that might explain it. All in all, this is a nice little place with wonderful, friendly, helpful people. I recommend it and will go again for sure.

The most fun we've had in years! Literally Great band, joined by the Owner, Rick and he has a great voice and is a great musician. The very best Walleye I have had in many years. Rooms were clean, warm & comfortable. Very quiet. A wonderful, long New Years Eve night with old friends and new ones.I would live in Monarch in a heartbeat. Delightful people, beautiful scenery.

They have a new chef, and he is terrific. The Walleye de Provence and key lime pie were both amazing, as were my friends' meals. The waitress but a bit vocal about her politics, but that's small town Montana for you. I'll definitely go back.

June 18th 2021Seems to be hit and miss. Friday night was awesome, fantastic food great drinks! Fish tacos with that green sauce 💚 A must have!! A+Then a Sunday afternoon was very lacking. There was a wedding party that kept them busy but food was an hour in coming and had been sitting, limp and lukewarm. Staff trying their best with limited supplies. Trash/food over flowing onto ground outside. Maybe a bigger trash can outside. We Understand Covid is messing with supplies and lack of workers.Hope they can overcome it. Generally a great place. Good luck guys. Will be back.Support our locals in tough times.

The Service is second to none. This place is a hidden secret. The food is delicious. A great stop going to or from Memorial Falls or Showdown.I got the firehouse burger, it was amazing and with Sweet potato fries, even better. For Malmstrom Folks during COVID, there is plenty of outdoor seating.

Stayed here for one night on route from Yellowstone to Calgary. A great stop for cheaper accommodation! The premises is dated but kept in immaculate condition. The onsite bar is a bit of fun and very convenient for hotel guests. I'd recommend having one vegetarian burger option, but otherwise the food was good. The owner is very accommodating and really values his guests. We felt very welcome and would recommend this hotel to other travelers.

This place is a hidden gem! Rick and Cheryl were extremely hospitable, and the Huckleberry Mules were fantastic! Our only regret was not being able to stay and eat, because the menu looked top notch!

I really enjoy the Cub's Den in Monarch. I go up there a few times throughout the summer, wether it be to rent a room, cabin, or just camp up the beautiful mountain. I started a family tradition with my children as they now also go there with their families. I have not rented a cabin in a lot of years now and was wondering (hoping) they still have them. The staff is always professional and very friendly. I always have a great experience whenever I visit.

Ski and stay is a scam. We purchased two nights ski and stay, which was supposed to include dinner and lift tickets. The "lift tickets" were just $5 off coupons. And after we checked in they said dinner was only included one night! We paid more than we would've if we'd purchased everything separately! I do NOT recommend!

Four of us stopped in yesterday after riding our motorcycles from Three Forks Montana on our way to Ft. Benton. Not much to chose from coming into a Great Falls but the ladies were hungry and the place was open.Typical honky tonk inside with a fairly ambitious menu, so we’re decided to have lunch. Not much going on but our young waiter was nice and let us know he was new and has only been working for four days. My wife ordered the Cobb salad, I ordered the smoked turkey wrap, and our friends ordered the basic burger and small house salad to share. Meals came with choice of fries or tots, we were informed they were out of tots so fries it was. Wife’s “Cobb” salad arrived along with the side salad ordered by the other couple, salad was advertised as containing chicken and when I asked the waiter where the chicken was he told me it did not come with chicken. I looked at the menu again and it said chicken so I asked him to bring chicken or remake the salad. The “cook” was heard yelling that was not the way he was taugh how to make the salad and chicken only came on the ceasar salad and we needed to have asked for chicken(!) After more yelling from the kitchen the poor waiter come out with some cold pre-made breaded chicken that was bread not chicken, you can’t make this up.The burger and turkey wrap arrived after a considerable wait and were accompanied by the “fries” cut potatoes that had been fried in lukewarm oil and were inedible, translucent if you know what I mean. Burger over cooked, turkey wrap contained fake bacon and the wrap was browned on both sides either on the grill or panini type press. You really have to try and make food this bad, we should have just left but paid the bill, left a generous tip for the poor “deer in the headlights” waiterperson and headed out of Monarch Montana.BEWARE

Service was good. Very attentive staff. They're probably more of a nighttime spot though. It wasn't very lively. Food was delicious. Highly recommend the grilled chicken sandwich.

I remember this was the place to go 40 years ago, a couple weeks ago unfortunately was not a good experience 😔😕 . . . Bar and restaurant was empty and it took over hour to get our food, only to be way over cooked and not edible. . . With no where else open to get food we went back to our room in Niehart with no meal. . . Would not go back
