I'm so glad I found this place. The owners are friendly and very helpful. The room was a very nice surprise. Clean, roomy and well equipped with comfortable bedding and fluffy towels. Much better than most motels in this price range. This would be a great place to stay and spend some time exploring this area and the outdoor activities. Or to just spend the night while traveling through.

My friends and I stayed for 10 days and loved every minute of it.We set up our canvas tent for hunting season and were welcome with open arms. If we needed anything they helped us out or told us where to go. Towels were abundant, along with a nice place to shower. Especially in the winter which was really nice when you’re cold from hunting all day.Next time we will definitely be staying inside when we get back over there.Customer service was outstanding and I would recommend the stay.A lot to explore and we love the history in the area. Definitely taking my wife over to enjoy the stay there one day soon.Thank you again for being such amazing hosts!P. Helland

We just had a wonderful stay at Sportsman Lodge Melrose. Check-in was seamless ,the room was immaculate and it had everything we needed. We enjoyed a beautiful view from our room and dark skies at night. Haven’t had such a peaceful night’s sleep in a long time. We chatted with the owners who are very gracious and made sure we had everything we needed. Bonus…the restaurant next door has excellent food. We will return to Sportsman Lodge soon.

This was a beautiful lodge venue. It was toddler friendly, which helped us a lot! There was plenty of space outside for our kids to play. Everything was very clean and comfortable. We are so thankful for such a nice retreat near Butte.Nearby activities: There’s a restaurant you can walk to about one minute away!

We discovered this wonderful motel/lodge by accident. Drives can be long in Montana and we were lucky enough to stumble upon the lodge while considering our options. As soon as I visited with the owner I knew we’d be spending the night. She was so helpful and even gave us a tour. We will definitely be staying with them again! The location is perfect with access to the river and the scenery is wonderful. I highly recommend this charming motel in Melrose.Rooms: Our room was very large, had charming decor, and had a full kitchen. The bathroom was rustic, but had everything we needed. The sound of crickets at night was very soothing.Food & drinks: The restaurant is within walking distance and the food is outstanding! We’ve stopped there several times when traveling from Great Falls to Salt Lake City and have never been disappointed.

My wife and I stayed at Sportsman Lodge for the month of August 2023 and had a fantastic time. The RV sites are big and the Hitching post restaurant next door has fantastic food! Bonnie and Ken go above and beyond to make sure you have what you need. We are going back and staying from June through August this year! We highly recommend Sportsman Lodge!Nearby activities: There are many rivers nearby with excellent fishing and a local guide service right there in Melrose.Food & drinks: The Hitching post is fantastic!

I love this place! The rooms are older and rustic looking, which is awesome! I beds are comfortable and I love that it was so quiet. It is definitely a place I would come to to recharge. It's in a great location, so there's tons of stuff to do that is close and there's a neat little bar and restaurant that is a block away! Plus, I love that it's pet friendly, and DOESNT smell like it. These guys definitely take care of their facility and care about their guests.

We have vacation property near hear but winterize it every year so when we come down between Christmas and New Years for our annual waterfowl hunt with family and friends, we stay here. This place is awesome. Plenty of space and room to sleep everyone. The kitchenette is a life saver and the prices are very reasonable. We usually bring a charcoal grill and a small pellet smoker and set it up outside the rooms and that's never been an issue. They're also dog friendly so I can bring my retriever. Great place I highly recommend

We accidentally came across this gem on our way home from a 2 week road trip. We hadn't booked any accommodations along the way as we didn't know where we we would be along the way. Really wished we had more time to spend here. Loved the outdoor spaces and the cabin like rooms. We’ve had the pleasure of staying at the Sportsman’s Lodge, RV park several times over the years, taking advantage of their hook ups. While he had our RV, we still enjoyed the home cooked meals at the adjoining Hitchin’ Post restaurant. While traveling yesterday, we made it a point of booking a room in their motel. It was a great experience, clean, cozy and perfect for our stay. Breakfast at the Hitchin’ Post topped of our experience, delicious. The Sportsman's Lodge in Melrose Montana is a gem! Attention Snowbirds this is a great place to stop on the way down to Arizona or California from Alberta. You can stay in your trailer or in a great cabin. The best part is the attention that you receive from the owners Ken and Bonnie. Oh, and 5 star food at their restaurant and bar. You can't beat the landscapes surrounding their lodge.

As a woman traveling by myself, I found the Sportsman Lodge on line and was glad to have a reservation, when I didn't know what time I would be arriving, daylight or night. The bathroom was clean and tidy, which is always a nice thing. I highly recommend this to anyone traveling in the area.Safety: It can be a bit unnerving to travel and camp solo, but I never felt those feelings. Felt very safe.Walkability: I needed to take my dog for a walk and had plenty of places to choose from.

I've been coming to this lodge since I was a child. I still love making it here every year with my family. Ownership has changed hands several times since i first started coming. The current ownership does a great job. This part of the world slows things down for me and I hope this place can stay more or less the same and not follow the trend of modernization.

The Sportsman Lodge is an ideal place for fishing The Big Hole. The rooms are spacious, always clean, beds comfortable and plenty of supplies. We have stayed there several times and have never been disappointed.Rooms: The rooms are spacious, well supplied and quiet.Nearby activities: You can walk right to The Big Hole or a few steps to The Hitchin’ Post ( restaurant and bar) which has great food.

We called before we arrived to see if any rooms were available. We were set up with a room in just a matter of minutes! A code to unlock our room came through my email. When we arrived I punched the code into the lock and walked into a very nice clean room! Very nice surprise and the room rate was very affordable!Rooms: The room was very clean and quiet! We slept very well! I would definitely recommend the motel to anyone!Food & drinks: A very nice bar and restaurant was within a very short walking distance. The breakfast we had was way more food than expected,all for a reasonable price!

My wife and I were traveling from northern Idaho where we live, to Nevada and California to visit friends and family. We needed an overnight place to stay and came across the Sportsman Lodge. What a find! We stayed in one of the free standing cabins and it was absolutely perfect. Clean, quiet, quaint with a kitchen, bathroom and separate bedroom. An inviting porch to sit out and enjoy the peace, quiet and amazing views. The owners Ken and Bonnie make you feel as though you are family and are at the ready to help in any way necessary. There is also a restaurant (The Hitching Post) about 100 yards from the cabin that serves breakfast, lunch and dinner along with a full bar and a few slot machines. I believe the restaurant is also owned by the Sportsman Lodge. This convenience added to our stay. This place is an angler and hunters dream. Nice rooms, plenty of RV parking, and even tent camping areas. There is a nice fire pit with numerous chairs around it to sit and enjoy the evening. The archery range is a nice touch as well. The only issue we had was in the morning when we woke up and realized we had to leave and would not be able to enjoy another day at the Sportsman Lodge. And BTW, the check in and check out was easy, and quick. A pass code is texted to you along with your room number and you use the code to enter your room. Check out is as simple. Our stay could not have been nicer and we look forward to a return trip on our way back home. Our thanks to Bonnie and Ken.UPDATE UPDATE UPDATEOn our way back home to Idaho, my wife and I once again did an overnight at the Sportsman Lodge. It was even better than our original visit...if that was possible. The owners, Bonnie and Ken could not be any nicer or accommodating. We reserved one of the free standing cabins and as in the past it was comfortable, and had everything necessary to enjoy the beauty and serenity of the surroundings. We ate at the Hitching Post Saloon and the food and service was outstanding, And meeting some of the local folk was an added pleasure.During our original stay back in October Bonnie asked how we liked our stay and of course we both said we loved it and would be back. I remember telling Bonnie about an extremely minor issue in our cabin. She took note and said it would be fixed ASAP. I forgot about this until we checked in last week. Upon entering the cabin I instantly noticed the minor issue was fixed. That may not mean much to some but it showed us a lot. The care and effort that Bonnie and Ken put in this business is noticed and appreciated.Do yourselves a favor on your way through this part of Montana. Don't waste your time looking for a place to stay. Call the Sportsman Lodge for a unique and memorable stay. You will be glad you did.

My daughter and I satyed here one night in 2023 while passing through. It was really a great stay. Friendly staff. Loved the room. The pine walls, the area arond the units - reminded me of the places we stayed out West when I was a kid. We will be back.Rooms: Montana log cabin look. Not the Hilton and I didn’t want the Hilton! Room reminded me of family vacation in the 60’s and 70’s, but with a a flat screen and cable! Awesome room!Noteworthy details: When you pull in you know your in Montana! Cool log look to the place, covered wagon and fire pit out front. Clean, tidy, well kept.
