We ate here while on a trip visiting Glacier National Park. It was closed the nights we got back from hiking, so we went for my birthday lunch and it was truly amazing! I got an avocado Caesar salad and mushroom soup and my husband got a beet burger. He said it was the best burger he’s ever had, including beef burgers. All in all It was hands down the best meal we had in recent memory! The staff was also super nice and welcoming. She helped us pick out some treats to bring home including a huckleberry tart, which looks like a little work of art.Vegetarian options: It’s all vegetarian! But even if you aren’t a vegetarian you will still love it. It’s delicious, hearty, and filling.Dietary restrictions: There is no meat or dairy so if you have allergies or are vegan, for example, all the options are options for you! And if you aren’t you will still love how everything tastes. It really fills you up too!

While staying overnight in Hungry Horse after visiting Glacier NP, this place was recommended to us. We ordered takeout since we were tired during the day. The overall inside of the atmosphere was very dainty and cute. The food was another level of amazing. I am a vegetarian and my biggest qualm with some of the places that I eat is that sometimes it’s too processed. Not this place. All the dishes we had tasted extremely fresh and all the dishes were extremely innovative.Food RecommendationsBob Marshall Buro (5/5): Everything about this dish was amazing. The protein and the “burrito” tasted amazing when combined with the sauce. The sauce had a bit of a kick to it, but the perfect amount of spiceHuckleberry Cream Tart (5/5): Perfect tart, not too sweet and perfectly delicious at the same time. The crust was extremely flakey which was perfect.Bighorn (5/5): Extremely creative dish with the beet patty. The burger tasted perfect and I couldn’t taste much of the beet since it blended in perfected with the other ingredientsMeetballs and Mushroom soup: Tasted great and the soup tasted like a cream of mushroom soup.Vegetarian options: The whole restaurant is vegan and gluten free

I was looking for vegan options near glacier and usually am hesitant to try entirely gluten-free restaurants, but everything about this place was amazing. The flavors were wonderful, and the food tasted great and was so filling. I really don’t think there’s anything bad on the menu. I would recommend for anyone to try this place - even if you’re not vegan/gluten free. The workers we got to speak with were so welcoming and kind too :)

If you're vegan or gluten free this is a must stop when you visit Glacier National Park! We came here not knowing what to expect and could not have been happier. This was truly a culinary experience on par with any we've had in the US or otherwise. The food is flavorful, very fresh (locally sourced from their own garden) and has great texture. The owners were so nice and you can sense their excitement and passion for their food.Make sure to make room for dessert, the huckleberry cheesecake is AMAZING and the rhubarb ginger tart was delightful. Don't make the mistake of skipping dessert! This is hands down the best dessert I've ever had (vegan OR non-vegan).

We were so excited to find a vegan restaurant near West Glacier and Dan d'Lion did not disappoint. We were exhausted and hungry after a long day of exploring the park, and this place was so warm and inviting and our family of 5 felt so comfortable coming in and having a seat. The plant-based pepperoni, mushrooms soup, and kids' meatball skewers were all a hit with our clan. Menu is gluten-free as well, so a great option for those with food allergies. The staff (and I assume owners) were so kind and hard-working, and we are happy to recommend their restaurant to others.Vegetarian options: All-vegan menu and all gluten-free

Plant Based Perfection! Wow! This place was incredible and the highlight of our trip to Glacier. Although listed as vegetarian the entire menu was vegan (and also gf). This is not your standard vegan food. The love and creativity put in to the menu was remarkable - and delicious. Which makes sense, once you meet the owners. This is their passion project and you can feel and taste it. They have items ready to go, as well as dine in (and the food comes out fast). Great for having a cozy meal in the restaurant, or taking lunch to go on the trail. We visited each day they were open (it’s that good) and loved everything! Also, this is not vegan junk food. This is plant based, with whole ingredients, that will fill you up and feeling good - fueled for the next hike 💪🏽 🌱! Many people come to Glacier because they love nature and the preservation of land and wildlife. They are environmentally minded, and now have a way to live that out while they eat! This place is a win for health, our planet, and the animals. Although we live thousands of miles away, we’re already dreaming of our next trip back to Dan D’lion and it makes me so happy this place, and people, exist in the world. We visited just days after they opened and they were already knocking it out of the park! I have no doubt they will be hugely successful, opening hearts and minds along the way through some of the best, healthful food I’ve ever had. Pics don’t do it justice!

Your body will thank you after eating at this place. Good treat for your taste buds. After eating meat for several days we went to this place and boy did we get a treat. Loved their huckleberry shake. Zucchini walnut and besty burgers and mushroom soup. Great place with a homey feeling. You will not regret it.

We stopped because of the 5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ star reviews, but we will be back because of their desserts! Hands down THE best treatment of huckleberries in Flathead County. They embraced the tart berries, instead of covering them in sugars and married them perfectly in the tarts, lemonade and cheesecake! Dan d'Lion come to the Huckleberry Festival and show people how to truly love a huckleberry. The rest of the food was tasty, but missing sides in our opinion. The flavors were spot on, but for a meal we like a "burger" and a side or a salad and a bread or something. That is our only suggestion to this five star little restaurant.Vegetarian options: It is all plant based, so everything is vegetarian.Dietary restrictions: This restaurant is awesome at making your meal amazing, no matter what restrictions you have.

UPDATE: just went back to treat ourselves to a great vegan meal. I must say, it is even better this year! Great menu selections, nice variety.I had the Bestie Beet Burger and it was SO good. Gear flavor. Their gluten free buns are the best. Light yet crispy on the outside. Nice sides to go with it. We also shared a dessert. Plenty for 2. See the photo. Also not too heavy, very creamy. Also know that you can now park behind the building. Just have to go past it ( on your right) and turn on the first street and then right again to park there. END OF UPDATEWow, I never thought that I would see a vegan restaurant here. It was great to look at the menu and realize that I could eat anything on it. Gluten free crusts and bread are an added plus. You can tell that the owners understand about healthy eating.I am sure that this place is not for everyone, as lots of people expect everything to taste like meat and butter. The taste is different than the standard American diet, but it is very flavorful and the texture is great.Definitely worth the short drive out to Hungry Horse to have a meal.It can be hard to spot, so don’t drive by.

Beyond delicious! Dan d”Lion is so yummy, but is also a place that will feel like a home cooked meal made by a loved one — it has an extra special magic. You won’t want to miss it! We went every day they were open during our visit to Glacier National Park and we cannot wait to visit them again next trip. After a couple days the owners felt like friends and family. It’s a restaurant you will feel so good about supporting, the owners are so kind and the food is that delicious! And nutritious! You’ll feel energized to get out for a hike in beautiful Glacier. Definitely get the lemon tart - one of the best treats we’ve ever had. Enjoy!

10/6/21Recommend? Yes.This surprising vegan restaurant in Hungry Horse was such a wonderful gift. It's on the way from Whitefish to West Glacier. I came on a day that didn't have any pastries left because they had a big catering order, sad me.I got a side of the pesto salad, spaghetti and meatballs, and smoked black bean burger.I'm typically not a fan of a pasta salad, but this one definitely surprised me. It was so bright with tons of veggies. The meatballs in me spaghetti was a bit extra toasted, but that's alright. I can't describe the flavors here, but I think the best word is "fresh". There's something unfamiliar about the sauce though... maybe because it didn't taste like it came out of a jar? Lol.The smoke black bean burger I found to be a bit on the sweet side however that is to be expected considering there is a BBQ sauce.Overall, I'm so glad that this restaurant exists and it has definitely saved me on my short visit. I would definitely come back next time I'm in Whitefish.

Amazing experience! The owners genuinely care about allergens and sensitivity. Including recommendations on something that you've been missing and wish you had but thought you could never have again. Our table had a variety of items off the menu. Purple haze salad, Avocado Flatbread, Spaghetti and "meatballs". 2 different amazing pizza, a lemon tart, huckleberry hazelnut cheesecake, Fresh lemonade, fresh brewed ice tea and a huckleberry milkshake. They were ALL vegan and gluten-free. So amazed at how fresh and tasty every single item was. We mixed and matched all the items like they were tapas. Great! Would go again 100%

We're not vegan, but stopped in for a pizza. Wow! Everything we had was spectacular. My Grandson and I really enjoyed our meal and considered it to be one of our most memorable experiences of our trip. The owner was a delight to speak with and her enthusiasm for her creations was inspiring. Thank you for a wonderful dining experience.

During a recent quick weekend visit to the Flathead Valley I went to dan d'lion twice. It was so good! I've been a gluten-free vegan for almost 10 years and have sought restaurants from Helsinki to San Diego that accommodate that diet. They are rare and vary in quality. This place can hold it's own with the best of them. Highly recommend it even for avid carnivores. The subtlety and complex flavors will win them over.

Delicious and nutritious food from local sources. Best way to eat for me is to eat the rainbow, and that is definitely what you get on the plate. Lots of colors and variety. The vegetable bowl had farm fresh veggies, is very filling and had lots of flavors. They make fresh sauces for the dishes that adds a boost of flavor. The huckleberry lemonade is refreshing and perfect. The huckleberry milkshake is filling and great for nutrition and energy boost after or before hike. Went here twice during our stay and the food was excellent, ordered the shake both times (pre and post hike). The staff is welcoming and was a joy to interact with. Recommend for anyone who appreciates flavor and fresh food. My husband who does not eat plant based suggested to eat here the second time.

Delicious, unique, and I love to see vegan options when I travel. Not only vegan options but vegan food with flavor and effort put into it. This was hands down the best house made vegan burger I’ve ever had. My only critique is ordering online, I placed a note on my order asking to have it ready at a later time, not right away, and it was made right away. Thankfully everything was still super tasty after waiting an hour!

The service was excellent and the food came fast. In and out in about 20 minutes, but not because you’re rushed. Very home-like atmosphere. The Avalanche is a great main course with very different flavors. I had the huckleberry cream tart and my dad had the happy camper cheesecake. The tart was amazing. I’m not a big sweets guy, but it was great. The cheesecake was good as well.

The food here was as advertised, healthy and fresh. But there are a couple changes that could have made it better. First, if someone orders soup and side salad, bring them both together, not the soup way before everyone else at the table gets their meal. Second, the bread that was with the soup was good, but the piece was way too tiny - at least provide a bigger piece to go with a whole bowl of soup. The salads were yummy and the dressings tasty. The burger and side potatoes could have used ketchup - the sauce that comes with it was a little too spicy as a condiment . The waitress was super friendly and the service was quick. Overall, 4 on a scale of 5, which could easily be a 5 with a few minor improvements.

Visiting from Oklahoma and randomly picked this place while taking a drive around Flathead Lake and it was such a lovely surprise. While none in our party adhere to vegan or gluten free diets, we all loved our food. The burrito, Caesar salad and mushroom soup are all regular menu items and were really great. The standouts though were the specials. The soup of the day was chili and was perfectly spiced with a great bite to it but my favorite was the avalanche Lake bowl of the day. It was a green curry, deliciously bright with tons of roasted vegetables. They should put it on the regular menu. Staff were friendly and informative and rally care about their product and it shows. Don’t miss this spot if you’re in the area!

My husband (non vegan) and I (gf vegan with many allergies) have been here twice during our stay inside Glacier NP. First time we had the hummus, 2 pizzas and a rhubarb tart with huckleberry lemonades. Today we had a cappuccino pudding, raspberry lemon tart, falafel burger and smoked black bean burger with a side of collard greens. Absolutely delicious and the owner is so kind and delightful. Such a gem of a place for healthy AND super delicious food just right outside Glacier National Park. Deserves every bit of 5 stars.

I don’t even have words to describe how amazing the food is here! We stumbled across this place while shopping nearby, and were completely blown away by the quality and creativity of the recipes. As someone who is both very gluten and dairy sensitive, I was elated to find food that catered to my sensitivities without tasting fake or like something was missing. In particular, the mushroom soup and the pizzas were spectacular! In short, we had a wonderful first experience, and we definitely plan on returning in the future!

It’s a must visit for vegans and vegetarians on the way to West Glacier.A gem of a place run by a lovely couple, the wife is the Chef. She happily explained the specials and made recommendations.During our conversations I learned they grow most of their produce in-house - completely organic and it’s available to buy for customers and other eateries. My favorites from the dishes we tried were The Bighorn beetroot burger, Burro - beans and rice burrito, and the chocolate ganache dessert - all fresh, vegan and organic.Highly recommend this place for all. This is not a paid review!

Amazing spot just outside of west glacier. A rare plant based gem in the area. The food was all delicious, the service was amazing, and the atmosphere was so cozy and homey. We will definitely be back. We found out about this spot because of their Tesla charger, which is so crucial if doing Glacier due to the lack of chargers In the area. So it couldn’t have been more perfect to get an amazing meal while charging.
