I love shopping here, it's convenient and usually is great for quick stuff, it's hard to shop there consistently, considering prices are higher than other grocery stores; but when able too it's great to know the extra price is going to help the Helena community. They are also great with service dogs and are very respectful! Good selection of basic grocery necessities, but I wouldn't come here to look for complex or hard to source ingredients.

I don't know how anyone can afford to do a whole grocery trip here, prices are double or more than any other grocery. It also never looks very clean. There's a wine cooler that's been broken forever, so you can't get cold white wine here, which is too bad because their booze section is one of the best sections. I've spent a lot of time waiting behind clerks chatting with customers after they are done, I know that's what some people like about this place, but it would be nice to be able to get in and out. If there were any other option on the west side, I wouldn't ever come in here.

Best neighborhood grocer. Excellent variety: organic produce section, grass fed beef from 2 separate suppliers, sweet Carrots and butter from Hutterites, pasties from Butte and Anaconda, excellent yogurt, ice cream, deli, home made dips, fresh cut dog bones...most friendly checkers:)

It was fine! The clerk was friendly. I walked from my hotel to get some groceries for my stay in Helena. It was a little less expensive than local grocery stores in Missoula. The produce wasn’t super high quality.

Small town grocery... nice people. Store has a feel that it's always on the verge of being dirty, but not quite. Meat department has good quality. I've heard the bakery is good, but I can't speak to that myself. If you have a hankering for something deep fried and greasy, the deli won't disappoint

Have been a customer for years. Not the prettiest, most modern grocery store around, but the employees have been there for years, the selection is good, and they do so much to support the community. Not to mention that they carry locally made products, and have the best bakery and deli in town. Their cakes are unrivaled and many swear that their fried chicken is out of this world. They also stock some harder to find ingredients for those of us who like to cook dishes from all around the world.

Locally owned grocery store. The meat, in-store bakery, service deli, and produce are top notch! I love that there are workers who have been there for decades, who know you too and even remember my grandparents, who passed away in 1994. They must treat employees well to keep them so long.Ordered a prime rib roast from their meat department (which regularly stocks Montana sourced meats) for Christmas 2020. They cut the ribs and tied it at no charge, and the price per pound was significantly less than $10. It was delicious and tender and perfect.

Everyone who works here is terrific. I shop here for my work, so I'm at Van's 2 or 3 times a week. If I have questions or need produce that's not out, they always help me right away. I get greeted several times. I've never had a problem with the food or selection. And they have the best donuts in town.

Vans thriftway grocery store in Helena Montana is one of the most friendliest and convenient places to shop in Helena for groceries The employees are very courteous and helpful in finding something if you can't find it yourself

Van's Thriftway is the absolute worst grocery store in Helena. Each and every item in this store is double to triple the price than ANY other grocery store in Helena. The owners take pride in ripping off the Helena West end. I truly Hope and pray this store goes out of business. Or gets sued. The prices on things at Van's Thriftway are unjustified

Goid prices, price matching, great customer service (usually). Was a little nervous when the new owners took over, but they've done a good job with the place.They've done a bit of rearranging, which is frustrating for those of us used to how it was. But great experience every time.Meat is a little pricey, I get that elsewhere. But it's pricey because it's good. Great vegetable section and a wonderful little Deli.

I'm a frequent shopper here because it's half way between work and home for me. Comes in handy when my vehicle is broke down and it's nice that they are open 24 hours a day which is also helpful due to my work schedule. Store is always clean and staff is always helpful and friendly.

Truly the best grocery store in Helena. Great staff of friendly people. Deli and Catering services are second to none.. Bakery is awesome; can order bread bowls or other custom breads when needed, and best Meat department around! Love that they've made the aisles wider. Paula did a fantastic job of making this store my favorite place to shop; I hope the new management will be careful not to erode her outstanding brand!

Some of the staff can be kind, but my last experience here was very unpleasant to say the least. You can tell some days that the staff is stressed out and in return they take it out on customers. There was an employee about 55-60 years old with short blonde kinda wavy hair that was walking quickly around the corner and almost ran into me and she shook her head at me and yelled "God" aggressively as if it were my fault she wasn't looking, granted she seemed very stressed and it was busy, but still, just because you're having a bad day doesn't mean you can be rude to people that didn't do anything, especially your customers.

They re-date their deli items to reduce waste. Absolutely disgusting to see translucent cucumbers and soggy salad dated that it was made this morning!! Complete falsehood! Someone could become very sick due to this neglect. Hard earned money should not be wasted here!!
