We arrived in Gardiner with a reservation at another Hotel in town that we made through an online booking company. That online company didn't make the reservation for us and it was getting late in the evening so we started calling every Hotel in town. These guys had a cancelation that just came in and we called right before they turned on the vacancy sign. This was a great find, right on the Yellowstone River, located at the gate to Yellowstone, and in easy walking distance to restaurants. Nothing fancy but the rooms were clean and the people working there were amazing.

This was a great find. The rooms are clean, there is a back patio with a beautiful view of the Yellowstone River, and located right outside of the North YNP gate with walking distance to the local restaurants, shops, music, and white water rafting. From our research it has the best prices in town as well. The staff was super helpful and friendly. PET FRIENDLY!

We needed last minute lodging and ended up at the Yellowstone River Motel. The room was surprisingly nice, spacious, clean, with all the amenities we needed. Kid friendly. Staff was helpful and we felt safe. Conveniently located near food and entrance to Yellowstone. Even saw wildlife out the window. We would definitely stay here again!

My family of four needed a break from driving to/from and through YNP and found this gem just outside the N entrance. We were tired and relieved to be welcomed with a friendly face, reasonable rate, and a very clean room for the night! You can tell that this older motel has been well kept and the owners take pride in serving their community as well as the visitors making lifelong memories at the park. We were lucky enough to see a momma elk and her baby right outside our room window! There were also some other elk and bunnies around town and across the open field. We were able to walk to dinner and found a great breakfast to take with us back into the park the next morning. I would definitely stay here again!

My family and I were supposed to tent camp just west of West Yellowstone Montana. When we arrived later in the evening we were told we could not camp due to a grizzly bear in the area. The whole area was just closed to camping and activities. We ended up driving up north to Gardiner, MT, which is a great small town. Also, we saw more wildlife than any other part of Yellowstone up this way. Yellowstone River Motel was a lifesaver because we had no where to stay and it was getting late. They had an available room. The staff are very friendly, great price, room was updated, clean, small refrigerator/microwave, WiFi, etc. The beds were comfortable. We would 100% stay here again.

The Yellowstone River Motel had some of the best staff and service ever. I was impressed with how helpful and caring they were.I was stuck in Gardiner because of flooding in Yellowstone and Livingston blocking all ways into or out of the city. Many hotels turned my family away because they were overwhelmed at the time. These hotels didn’t properly handle the situation with the people who reserved who were unable to enter Gardiner and people like me who were stuck there. The Yellowstone River Motel gave us a room immediately at a great price. The staff gave us water because of an issue with the tap in the city at the time. They constantly updated us about the road conditions. They came to check on us and the other residents often and were consistently helpful. They were incredibly considerate and caring in the tough circumstances we were all in.My mom and I were disappointed we could not visit Yellowstone, but our stay at the Yellowstone River Motel was a great experience. I would highly recommend them for a visit on the way to or back from Yellowstone, as I am sure it would be even better in a normal situation.

A clean, quiet room, a comfortable bed, and a hot shower are the three legs of a good stay. This place delivers that. No glitz, no concierge, no valet parking... in their place, I got a very clean room, a very comfortable bed, hot water under good pressure (albeit from a low shower head), absolute quiet, genuinely friendly and very helpful owners and staff, and 3x mule deer who slept in the yard outside my window each night. Would definitely stay here again!

This was my favorite accommodation on my 20-day journey. I was a lucky one to have the room with a back door that opens up to a nice garden overlooking the Yellowstone River. This place was twice as nice as the place I stayed in at West Yellowstone, yet half the price.

Awesome place to stay. My husband and I came into town without reservations anywhere and Mary was so helpful and sweet. We were able to get a room without any problems. The location couldn't be better because you're literally at the entrance to YNP. The rooms are cute, clean, and comfortable! We highly recommend this place if there's availability. Bonuses were the river was right out out front door and they are pet friendly. Our stay here helped make our trip the best it could be!!

I'd give it 10 stars if I could! Their accomodations are clean, comfortable, and roomy. The location is just about perfect, with the river running right behind the motel, and literally just steps from Yellowstone North Entrance. We were detained in Gardiner during the recent flooding. We were worried and frightened because we didn't even have a room, since we checked out of another inn, expecting to be able to drive out. The inn couldn't accommodate us, but Yellowstone River Motel did. They provided clean drinking water (Gardiner was under a boil order), extra blankets (in case power went out), and kept us up-to-date on information about the flood. They really went above and beyond. My thoughts are still with them, and all the people of Gardiner.

I travel to Yellowstone almost twice a year, and I love coming in the North entrance. Normally I stay in Livingston, but I have always wanted to stay at this motel and finally got the chance! The outside has always looked so cute and inviting and I have to say the inside doesn't disappoint. The woman that checked me in, Donna, was so friendly and very accommodating. She offered to switch me to a room with 2 double beds to have more space, but I stuck with the single queen and found it to be more than roomy enough for me and my dogs. The room is so comfortable and very clean. If there were other pets in here previously, you would never be able to tell. Everything is also very well kept up and so comfortable. I felt welcomed and at home. They even have a nice little area to walk your dogs with bags and a trash can provided! If you travel with pets, this place is definitely the way to go.

The rooms at this motel are small but adequate. Since you will likely be spending the bulk of your time in the park, having the newest decor or a concierge is really unnecessary. And with the great selection of restaurants within easy strolling distance, you won't miss room service either. The bed was comfortable, the shower was hot, the price was right, and it is about as close to the park entrance as you are going to get. There is a seating area behind the motel overlooking the Yellowstone River that is a great place to relax and unwind while you watch the elk and pronghorn and enjoy the view.

We stayed the Friday of Labor Day weekend and came very last minute. They still had rooms available and were the most affordable in town. They are pet friendly which was a huge plus for us and the room was still super clean and spotless. The patio overlooking the river is really nice and they had nice quality soap, shampoo, and conditioner dispensers in the shower.

My sheets were not clean, but the attendant is only available during a limited time. There is no pet area at all on the premises. The street was noisy even for being the off season, and the extra 40 for my dog was annoying. The room and bathroom were mediocre and the supplies were low end junk. Yeah its close to Yellowstone but my room was facing the inner lot, so the table out on the balcony was lame. I was glad we only stayed here one night and I wouldn't stay here again.

We ended up finding this place last min and it was wonderful! Exceeded our expectations. Comfy beds, roomy, great views and a quaint place to see the river behind the older part of the hotel. I’d definitely stay here over a chain hotel any day. It was my kids favorite hotel of our 2 week trip! And the price was much lower than other places down the street.

We found ourselves unable to camp in Yellowstone and rode into Gardiner to see what lodging was available. The Yellowstone Motel was clean, quiet and restaurants were within walking distance. The price was right, and the patio overlooking the Yellowstone River and town was wonderful. We were traveling by motorcycle with pop - up camper and staff was very kind and accommodating.

The hotel was clean. The room was cold at first but the space heater worked well and we were comfortable overnight. They do not serve breakfast but there is coffee and tea in the office. It was a quiet hotel and very conveniently located to the main strip of town and the Yellowstone park exit.

I LOVED this motel! Its was cute and clean AND I got a gorgeous patio view of the Yellowstone River. It's also one of the cheaper places so that's a definite bonus. Staff are very friendly and helpful on places to see or eat at. 10/10

Nice hotel right outside the gate of Yellowstone. The rooms are a bit dated, but the back patio more than makes up for it.Nearby activities: Literally across the street from Yellowstone

Nice older lady that runs the place. We staying in the 'new part', it was plenty nice. Gardiner is a nice touristy town, way better than Livingston! The price is not cheap but it's next door to Yellowstone, so .... The view on the patio is to die for, we watched elk play in a yard across the river. Don't know what the other places in town are like but I was happy with this place. The only downside is the parking lot is gravel and we were on motorcycles. Had a place to wash our bike and a smokin Czech girl there as a maid that was sweet and friendly and provided towels and buckets for us to wash our bug encrusted motorcycles.

The room was clean and affordable. Our family of 5 did not plan to stay here. But ended up staying a night after the hotel that we were going to stay at gave us bad vibes. The owners here were so friendly and helpful towards us. They had the rollaway bed for us already in the room and extra towel for the 5th person. This does not happen other places. We have to ask for a extra towel at other places. We wished we found this place before! We all got a great night sleep to start our way back home. Thank you again.

Stayed here several times. They over booked one week and when I called to confirm a room they didn't have one. Luckily I kept my confirmation number. She called back and had a with a room a few hours later. Great Location. Quiet. Clean. The "old" part is quieter than the new. If you are in the park to see animals this is a good place to stay, you can go in and out of the park with ease.

If you're at the north entrance you must stay here! It has beautiful views and wonderful a staff. The rooms are cheap but extremely nice. Updated and roomy. The staff is amazing and will go out of their way to help you. Fresh coffee and hot tea in the office as well as lemon water. I recommend this to anyone traveling to Yellowstone families couples or single travelers
