nice and quiet on a sunday morning. Dennis was so wonderful to chat with! he was a Ranger for the parks service for years and now enjoys his timing working here at the nice Yellowstone gift shop/info center in Gardiner.comfy rocking chairs outside, sat out for at least an hour, admiring the elk on the hill nearby…until low-IQ humans started walking up to them and invading their space to take selfies (DO NOT GET CLOSE TO WILD ANIMALS, no matter how cute, please admire them from an appropriate distance).

We had the privilege of spending a day with Abby and Lauren as our guides to the North Range of Yellowstone National Park. They are so knowledgeable about all subjects (wildlife, flora, geology, park history, current park projects) and deeply enriched our day focused on wildlife observation. They were patient and enthusiastic about answering all of our questions and gave us a great foundation to expand our exploration of Yellowstone National Park. They had well-organized learning aids (eg charts, diagrams, specimens). They had excellent speaking skills and a great pace to topics. They demonstrated to us how to balance the plethora of scientific observations occurring here with the inexpressible awe of being in Yellowstone. Thank you both!

Great little shop with a great book selection (I took home several titles) and other interesting and locally-made items (e.g., "predator-friendly" wool caps). We decided to purchase a 1-year membership as the 15% immediate discount on books paid for it, and I took home a plush baby bison as their thank-you gift. A must-stop if you're in Gardiner or are visiting the north end of Yellowstone.
