It was recommended that we eat here. Glad we did. The young fella behind the counter was learning and he was fantastic! Had a good teacher. He made a really good cold caramel kind of a coffee. They also use coffee ice cubes, not water. PERFECT!! Food was great. It hit the spot and I got exactly what I asked for. The menu board will keep me coming back!Dietary restrictions: They had a lot of sandwiches but I requested my ‘sandwich’ without bread. It was perfect.

We had breakfast and I worked on a project on my computer for a couple hours at the Tumbleweed Bookstore & Cafe on our trip to Gardiner and Mammoth Hot Springs. The lady behind the counter greeted us as soon as we entered, even though she was busy with another customer's order; she was very polite and professional the entire time.We were not rushed, so the wait did not bother us at all, though we were amused by the sign that reinforced that they are not able to rush orders for raft trips, so patrons need to manage their time effectively and not expect fast food wait times! My breakfast burrito was the best I have ever tasted, and I have had versions of breakfast burritos all over. The contents were layered inside the tortilla in a unique way; the egg, cheese, sausage, and black beans were all together in the middle like sandwich contents, but then were wrapped in the shell. It was super easy to use a knife and fork to eat, which I chose over eating it with my hands because I was using my laptop and didn't want my fingers to have food on them.My mother had a breakfast sandwich, and it was also very well made. My capuccino was the perfect blend of a medium roast espresso and half the sweetness of hazelnut and red raspberry. The atmosphere was quaint and cozy, and I loved seeing the local artwork and jewelry for sale. We will definitely be back when in the area!

The food at this cozy and beautiful cafe in Gardiner is so amazing. We got to it at closing time, and without hesitation, they opened up for us and cooked delicious sandwiches and made coffee for us. The coolest plus is that there were two beautiful puppies that greeted us at the door. This is a really must try if you go to the Gardiner area! The sandwiches are about $10 each, and the coffees range between $3 to $8, depending on which kind you get.

I don’t know if it’s just us and how we are accustomed to Southern hospitality, but the treatment was either substandard or a huge misunderstanding. Our group came in at around 10:30 A.M. for breakfast, and we were nicely greeted and assisted by the woman working, who was very respectful and patient until one of us ordered an order of a biscuit and gravy. Her attitude lingered throughout the order despite a minuscule misunderstanding to which she called one of us “really confusing,” despite her asking if we wanted the large order, and our response was merely a “no thank you.” Even if there was confusion, calling a customer’s response “confusing” is unprofessional! Good hospitality is expected as it was the only breakfast place open at the time in a touristic town. As Southerners, respectful communication and manners are just natural for us, and Montana is a relatively new state for us. Still, the majority of service has been very attentive and kind. This place was a total outlier.Moving on though, we dined in and waited a bit before the food was ready; however, she seemed to be the only staff so waiting was not an issue. The food arrived, and that was all we heard from her for the rest of our stay. The bagel was really good, but that’s hard to mess up. The biscuit and gravy was good, but it contained meat and caught us off guard, so it was just something different. Now, for our orders of egg and cheese English muffins, one was too sweet to our liking, and in the other, we discovered a hair or fiber, which was unexpected. At the end of our meal, we got up and left without a word from her, so that was quite strange, but that’s just her. Everyone has their bad days, but I wish she had treated us kindly and with more patience. It wasn't very pleasant to be spoken to the way she did and to feel so belittled. Hopefully, this isn’t experienced by other customers. The other customers who came in were treated kindly, which was relieving! These are our feelings regarding the service, but the store was cute and warm, despite some tables being a bit dirty, and there was a good selection of books and a comfortable-looking lounge area. Overall, I would give Tumbleweed Bookstore & Cafe a 2/10 because prioritizing your customer service is vital for business. I also wouldn’t recommend the “thinking out loud.”

Our family has been on the road for several days, and we had been eating unhealthily. We were really grateful to find Tumbleweed Cafe because the food was healthy, simple yet delicious, and very good value for money. We ordered the Banjo (which has a nice spicy kick to it) and the Merle salad. The staff were very friendly and this cafe had a relaxed, at home feel with Lego toys for younger kids to play with in a separate section.. I liked the thoughtful ways the store is environmentally friendly,; we helped ourselves to water with reusable glasses, and the bathroom had recycled paper towels. Also the store has books, cards and art to support local artists. Do stop by this place, it is highly recommended.

Cozy little bookshop that also serves nice coffee breakfast and pastries. They have lot of books about Yellowstone national park to browse. You can also find some handwoven baskets for sale.I went in the afternoon so it was not crowded and the staff at the clash register was very nice and got my order quickly served. They have Wi-Fi and they accept credit cards. If you want to spend your afternoon with a nice coffee this is the place.

This is a tiny cafe and they have really good food options. Their breakfast burrito is really nice so are all their sandwiches. They have few drinks like coffee, mocha, chai, but no juices. Their prices are also very affordable, not like the other places which have a huge price tag for average food. Must visit when in Gardiner.

Came here two mornings for breakfast and it was perfect. Line wasn’t too long and wait for food wasn’t bad either. The breakfast sandwich and burrito were so good and filling. My husband liked the hot cereal too. The chai is great and so is the coffee but the ambiance is even better. We enjoyed it so much! Very vegetarian friendly too!! Perfect for us since a lot of the places in town have meat heavy menus.

Yum! Real food. Fixed while you wait. Alot of choices. I got egg, bacon and avocado on sourdough toast. Hot, delicious. The sourdough had flavor and texture. Husband got Jalepeno Cheddar bagel with egg, ham and white cheddar. He commented that the bagel was spicy and soft, and that's a positive in contrast to having a tough one. We got black coffee. Coffee was dark and strong enough and on tap for self-serve. The price was very reasonable at about $13 with the tip. We got a giant $3 brownie to go.

We were recommended to come here by Wonderbar as it was the end of the tourist season so not a lot of places for breakfast.Came here Sunday morning for breakfast.1 woman show! Food takes 15-20 mins but it is fresh and yummy. We ordered a breakfast bagel and asked her to make it how she likes it - with cream cheese, tons of veggies and bacon. It was really great! We also ordered drinks and the hot cereal along with some pastries for the road. Solid, nourishing breakfast.A pleasant surprise! Probably the best place for breakfast in this town!

Delightful little coffee shop not even 5 miles from Yellowstone's northern entrance. Free wifi and plenty of cozy chairs. Everything is made in-house, comes in generous portions, and tastes great.

ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!!! I would definitely return! My boyfriend and I just arrived in Montana and we were headed to Yellowstone but wanted to pick up a quick bite prior and we stumbled upon this place. The place is relatively small with a cute family cafe vibe to it. I don’t remember the person name but he was extremely helpful and patient. I am a picky eater and he got my order correct and didn’t make a big deal about how I wanted everything which is soooo nice and I appreciate it so much. The wait was relatively short. We sat outside and within 15 minutes the guy came and delivered the food to our table! The food was amazing!!!!! It was sooooo good and hot. I love the different plates they place the food on it’s adorable. I would definitely return if I ever come back to the area. I highly recommend coming here if you get the chance. I am very pleased with my experience. I love how they offer books to read as well. There’s so much to view around the cafe!
