This place wasn’t great. The staff were extremely kind. Unfortunately the room we stayed in was a bit icky. We saw a number of bugs flying around in the room, the anti slip mat in the shower was brown and gross, and there was a pie tin taped to a hole in the wall. I think it was overpriced for what they offered. The area around the hotel seemed a bit unsafe - across the street there was an abandoned building with broken windows but all of our belongings and vehicle were fine. The staff at the hotel were friendly, along with any other staff we met at stores and restaurants near by.

You won't me able to sleep here it is that bad. When asked about continental breakfast we were told the owner would give us a microwaveable burrito in the a.m. The coffee in the lobby ( that was the size of a closet) was a mr coffee that had been made 7 hours prior. The room was filthy. I made the mistake of not reading reviews before I booked a non refundable. Ate the money for the second night and went somewhere else. I can't believe places get away with this.

Should be NO stars, I don't know if Cowboy ghetto or bates motel is a better description of this property. My room(8) had not been cleaned at all. Dirty sheets, bath room had used wash cloth and hair in shower still. At least it had hot water. It was a place to get a couple hours sleep that's it!Food & drinks: Twin Grill had an excellent breakfast!

DO NOT STAY HERE!!! Unless you want pubic hair in your sink and shower. The place was a filthy mess. We were stuck and didn't have anywhere else to go. None of the amenities listed were actually there. We got to take a bath while showering because the shower did not drain properly. I'm not sure how this passed fire code either. No outlet covers and most of the outlets didn't work. There was no breakfast offered...even if it was actually there we wouldn't have eaten. We got outta there as fast as we could in the morning. SPEND THE EXTRA MONEY AND STAY SOMEWHERE ELSE!!!!!!!

The Bad and The Good:BAD.....Said AAA approved. They must have bought that sign on eBay or else AAA standards have hit rock bottom. Dirty littered grounds with huge deep pools of standing water. The shower floor had enough mold and mildew to make Mr. Clean pray for a lobotomy. Overpriced!! $150.00 a night!! Better off sleeping in your car and showering under a rain spout.GOOD.....great HD TV with satellite and tons of channels. Fairly comfortable beds but small mushy pillows. Very gracious and accommodating office staff. Overall it was ok at best for my needs in a tiny Montana town. If you like rustic, you'll like this motel.Walkability: Close to general store with the usual schlock souvenirs.

This is the most disgusting place ive ever been to. And thats coming from someone who had traveled the world intensively. No human beign should sleep in these rooms and these people are running under questionable activities. I booked a room for what they marketed as a different hotel that doesn’t exist, is an empty lot with pictures that were taken from a different hotel and used as theirs. When you finally get to the dying Dancing bears you realize you have been scammed. They ilegally charged us twice for the room knowingly and assured us we were refunded what we originally prepaid. This company should not be operating this hotel and companies like Expedia shouldn’t be promoting them. Shameful !Rooms: Everything in here is disgusting. Not even pigs can stay here. This is more like dead rotten bears

What a cool little place. Rustic feel, everything was clean, the manager Shannon made sure we had 2 days worth of coffee, egg sandwich breakfasts in the fridge and extra snacks. I called to confirm our dogs were with us and she just said keep them off the furniture, which was totally reasonable. We had one of the smaller rooms and stayed two nights but honestly it worked out perfectly. I would stay here again for sure. It is also perfectly located between the northeast and west sides of the park

I was overcharged for my room but was promised a refund and a phone call to confirm my refund. As of today, I have called over 20 times and was sent to voice mail or to a full mailbox each time. The manager can't be bothered to return my call or send the promised refund. Good luck if you stay there as the manager in NOT available in person at the property and doesn't answer phone calls or emails. You could get locked out, have no heat, have items stolen or any other issue and there is NO ONE to help you out - and no one answers the phone. We spent 30 days traveling and stayed in motels/hotels each night. The Dancing Bear had the very WORST customer service. They require prepayment but offer NO service once they have taken your money. The room was OK for the area, but certainly not great. The night stand light seemed to have a short in it as it came on and off if even bumped. There was nothing about the place that was good - basic at best, and overpriced with NO help from management. Save yourself a lot of aggravation and stay away from the Dancing Bear Inn.

I'll start with the good, when we first booked our credit card flagged the charge as fraud & they were kind enough to call several times until they reached us to get the right card info. When we arrived they had a cancellation and upgraded our room, which was very much appreciated.I had no illusions of this being a nice hotel, as others stated it is old and outdated, but I felt it was decent enough with a few exceptions. First, the pillows only have flimsy pillow covers on them and need something water-resistant or proof to protect the pillows. Do they not know people drool and have dirty heads? Second, the comforters are pretty dingy, ours had stains on them. Third, putting a simple bed skirt on the box spring would just make everything look a little nicer and less cheap. Fourth, there was a window in our room that looked out to the back of the building that also had a street light outside, it was so bright in our room even after we turned out the lights. A simple curtain would be appreciated. Lastly, the old fabric chair covered in stains needs to go! Replace with something pleather so it can be wiped down.My biggest issue with this place is that it was impossible to reach anyone if you needed anything! There is a note posted to call a number for Joe who supposedly lives on site, but never seems to be around. First, there is no cell service in the area, at least T-mobile didn't work and the wi-fi there is SOOO spotty and hardly works, so how are we supposed to reach Joe after hours? Our first night there a nice couple couldn't get their heater to work (at least they had one, our room didn't have one). We tried for over an hour to find someone, but by the time Joe showed up my husband had already been at their room for an hour assessing the situation and trying to fix it. Then, when our toilet clogged, again we could not find anyone to help us!They do not clean or check the rooms everyday to restock coffee or clean. My kids ate some crumbly food and made a mess on the floor and I happen to come across an employee as we were heading out. I asked if I could borrow a vacuum to clean it up and she said she would service our room while we were out, do you think she did? Nope! My last complaint was we booked this place because they offered breakfast, I get they had to close their lobby down because of COVID, but I was under the impression we were getting yogurt and granola bars or oatmeal or something put in our rooms everyday. Again, no.So, overall not horrible, but some definite inconveniences and room for improvement. Also, note this place is an hour from the East Glacier entrance.

Stayed here last minute, price was ridiculous. Room was small, found a bug on the bed, and the heater was broken. If you need a bed to sleep in they have it, but you're going to pay for it. The only thing that made this place "bearable" no pun intended, was the employee. He worked hard and gave me a spare space heater he had for the lobby. If it wasn't for him this place would probably fall apart and in on a spin off of chef Ramsey "hotel nightmares". If the price was 1/4 cheaper then I would be in a you get what you pay for mood but I've stayed in 3 star hotels for cheaper. Location is in the middle of a strange town that doesn't look like it survived the pandemic. You could probably film a walking dead episode there.

I have stayed many places and I have never written a negative review before. This was the absolute worst experience ever! The small room was located next to a saloon and from midnight until 2:30 a.m., there was a raucous crowd outside my window. Beer bottles were breaking and motorcycles were gunning their motors. One person even knocked on my window while smoking a cigarette! We could not sleep @ all! There was no cell signal to call for help. Afterwards, when I spoke with the manager, she admitted she was aware of the issue & claimed she would reimburse me for the next night that I had reserved that I was cancelling. After that conversation, I called and emailed 8 times over 6 weeks prior to writing this to give her a chance to honor her word. I would have preferred being reimbursed instead of writing this horrible review. Do NOT stay @ this place even if it is the last place in town.

Amazing place. Get comfortable beds. The manager had left fruits and energy bars in the room knowing I checked in late. There were no restaurants open, so the dinner was fruits. Very thoughtful. The room was clean and the room had AC which was great for the peak of summer. This place is 10 miles from two medicine and is very cozy.

This place is in need of a major upgrade. The location is ideal but that’s about all the good I can say. It is EXTREMELY overpriced for what you get. The small room we stayed in shouldn’t be more than $70 at most. The room smelled musty, had very old carpeting and I’m not sure it was throughly cleaned as there was a sock (not mine) under the bed and a used coffee filter in the coffee maker! The bathroom ceiling had mold and the bathtub didn’t drain well so you’re left standing in your own dirty bath water. There is no breakfast as advertised, just a microwaveable sandwich in the fridge with some bottled water. I would not recommend staying here and I certainly won’t be back.

I feel a little bad writing this because the owner was friendly and accommodating in this COVID world, but the room was not worth the price. At half the price I would have given four stars, but it's not worth its rate. The room was tiny and the bed was old and uncomfortable. The curtains were not terribly thick and the lights of the area bled through all night, especially on the window with the needed AC unit. The water pressure was amazing though and the water was hot, two huge pluses. If only it weren't so expensive.

I know it's odd to show a pic of a window. Notice, no screen? Notice the shade all broken? No air, so I had to have non screen windows open all night. No fan so even that was miserable. The bed and pillows were terrible. There is a bar across the street singing karaoke until 2AM. The broken shades let all the light in. It was like sleeping with the lights on. These owners do not care about there property

Do. NOT be fooled by the pictures. This place is a not a place I would ever stay again. Room was far different than the pictures. Nasty carpet, floor did not feel level. Bed foot was higher than the head. They called me to say I could not check in till 5 or 6 pm because the room was not cleaned yet. Electrical outlets did not have covers on all of them. The breakfast was laughable. Charged us an extra hundred dollars above what was agreed on Booking.com. Got the runaround about discharge. The owner would not respond to an email. This place is a rip off and as far as I’m concerned they commit fraud. Stay anywhere except here!

AWFUL!!! Booked months ago and when we arrived we were told our room had “issues”. We were supposedly “upgraded” to a single cabin. It was a few blocks away from the main inn. When we finally found it we were shocked at the condition. Overgrown lawn full of tall weeds, “no trespassing” sign on the front entrance, parking in a big mud hole, inside dirty carpet, bugs, dripping tub faucet, no air conditioning, no internet, WiFi or TV. We had to go buy a bar of soap for the shower. We roughed it out because no other rooms were available in the area. Made four trips to the office asking for service…not one complaint was resolved. DO NOT BOOK THIS DUMP! The website is a joke.

When we arrived, the person who was here to check in make us feel very unwelcomed. She barely said hi or whatever and just told us 4 worlds: your room is there. The breakfast is microwave breakfast sandwiches with a list of ingredients longer than the bible, brick juice and yogurts in plastic pouch. We had also 2 bananas and 1 apple. For 3 morning. For 2 people. No sugar, no milk, just fake sweetener and flavored creamer. The wall had smashed insects on it, and there are small bugs in the bathroom. The kitchen is very cool though. The room is very dark and the 2 only furnitures are crumbling. I m disappointed because we paid a big amount of money for that room and the included breakfast. I also asked to the hotel few weeks before coming if there is any shuttle available to go the park, as the lodge shuttle was not running at this time and we had only our bikes. I had a reply saying they will let me know, but I never had follow up afterwards, while the location we went to sleep the last night sent me a list of person to contact for shuttling and also what to do with bikes around and in the park in less than 24h (which basically made our trip fantastic). We won't come back, sadly the very cold welcoming set it all. If the person would have been nicer, and the room not so overpriced (220$/night!) my mind setup (and my review) would have been certainly better cause I m usually pretty easy to content.

My daughter and I booked 4 nights here and have just added one more. What a spectacular find! Having our own little house in such a beautiful area is amazing! We are beyond impressed with everything about this place. At check in, we found out about the most amazing horseback riding place that is locally run and was fantastic. We've enjoyed all of the dining recommendations, and the attention we've received has been so welcoming that I wish we could stay longer. This is a great base for a trip to Glacier Park and just feels like home. You won't regret a stay here. We still have a few days left and I already can't wait to come back!

We stayed at the Dancing Bears for a week while visiting East Glacier. When we made the reservation we read the poor reviews, but decided to give it a try as it was a convenient location for the hikes we wanted to do and in the past, we have found that reviews have not always been accurate. These reviews are very accurate! The property is in need of tender loving care. It has a lot of potential, but the owners obviously just don’t care. There was no manager after the first day we were there. When we checked in the manager showed us to our room and made sure we knew how to use the space heater. The regular room heat did not work. This was a little frightening as we did not want to leave a space heater on all day while we were out for safety reasons, so we always returned to a cold room. The property is advertised as having a continental breakfast, which it does, but the food is of poor quality and you wonder how long some of it has been there. Several days they were out of creamer for the coffee. We managed on our own with the mini fridge and microwave. But since the rooms do not have coffee makers, we had to rely on the office for coffee. Breakfast was supposed to be available from 6AM-10AM, two mornings there was no one in the office until late.We try to conserve water when we use lodging for lengthy stays by not having our towels and sheets done daily. We informed the manager of this on the first day when we checked in. They took that to heart and did not service our room the entire time. We felt sorry for the employees who were having to scramble to keep the place running. I would definitely not recommend this property. The only reason we give it 2 stars is that the beds were comfortable, and the shower and other bathroom amenities were functioning.

NEVER STAY HERE. I would give it 0 stars if I could.First off, there were amenities they promised that they weren't able to deliver. In a place with no cell service or, if you don't have Verizon, internet, they gave us wifi without internet which means no wifi. When we and several other people asked they kept making excuses and we ended up not having wifi our entire stay there. Second, they didn’t offer breakfast one of the days because the main office wasn't open because, in their words, they were up late last night.Second, there was a bug infestation. There were bugs all over the bathroom floor. There would be more bugs every morning and night which we'd have to clean up. The bugs were also on the walls and floor and got into the sugar for our coffee. For some more nit picky stuff, the breakfast was extremely limited, the bathroom faucet and shower had basically no water pressure, and the bathroom door didn't lock. The place was overpriced for a regular hotels standards, and MASSIVELY didn't deliver on it. DO NOT STAY HERE.

This place was great! The manager let me check in early & helped me get my laundry done super quick. She also refunded me for a canceled reservation, in good faith, since the room ended up full. Hiker friendly. Tidy, clean, got a great night’s sleep, & it’s in a perfect location, quick walk to the amazing Mexican restaurant down the street.

I accidentally booked the wrong Sunday night (9/5) and immediately called Hotels.com to change my stay to the correct to 8/22. I also tried to call the number on the website which no-one answered AND hasn't in a week of trying. I emailed reservations at Dancingbears inn.com three times with no reply. So I booked the correct date, a stayed there last Sunday night hoping to talk to them directly. No one was at the dump inn and our room was left open with a envelope taped to the door. The room was tiny, dirty and had bugs. Their is no one to talk to, no one will answer the phone or emails. The run down property is in keeping with the run down village. The property is next to a very rough saloon that is one of the only open establishments and stays open to 4:00am with some very dubious clientele. We did not feel safe !!! THE BUSINESS OWNER IS A SCAM ARTIST - DO NOT STAY HERE!!!!!!!!!!! NO SERVICE, NO HELP - UNSAFE

I would give this place 10 stars if possible.Let me say that if you are looking for a holiday inn or something of the sort, that's not what you're going to get. You are getting a hometown, cozy stay. The workers were extremely friendly. I stayed for a night during a wedding weekend. I camped the previous two nights and needed to check in early in order for my lady to have time to get ready and wash off the camping for the wedding. The manager, Shelley, I believe was extremely nice and made it a priority to clean our room first so we could check in early. Fantastic place to stay and very fantastic group of people working there. The rooms themselves were awesome too! Nice beds, great jacuzzi tub and full list of cable tv. Would reccomend 100/100 times!!

Never stay here! I booked a reservation for June 27, then had to cancel. The reservation CLEARLY says "Free cancellation until June 27 at 3:00pm." If I could attached an image, I would have included it as proof. I booked on May 5th and cancelled on May 23rd - well before any cancellation penalty would kick in. I was informed by a hotel employee that because my cancellation was less that 30 days prior to the check-in date, that I would lose 50% of my payment. Basic math tells me that the cancellation was more than 30 days prior to the check-in date. And what does "free cancellation until June 27" mean??? That is false advertising, designed to commit fraud, and steal your money. Dancing Bears Inn, MT is a rip-off!

We booked our stay in May for August, then had conflicts with the rest of the trip schedule so decided to cancel. I canceled our reservations within the allotted window, received an email from Expedia stating that we would receive a full refund. It is July 29th and we have still not received the refund. The first call where I was actually able to connect with someone was today. I was placed on hold for 15 minutes where I could hear Shannon clearing her throat in the background. DO NOT book a stay here!I will happily remove my review when/if I receive a refund.

Through no one's fault - repairs to a waterline were interrupted by an emergency - our cabin had no water when we arrived for our stay. The manager and staff worked hard to correct it, did so within just a few hours, and gave a generous discount on the rate for the trouble. The room was very clean, the bed was comfortable, and the location was an easy drive to the St. Mary and Many Glacier entrances to Glacier Park. All good, and an excellent value for the price!
