The Beaverhead Animal Shelter is an excellent organization that prioritizes animal needs first. They were available off-hours when we needed to bring an animal we found in and took care of him right away. We eventually ended up adopting the animal and they made it nothing short of a breeze! They were available for questions, communicative, and accessible to visit. We love our new family member and they helped make it so he fit right in! I would 100% recommend this shelter and adopting, donating, or sponsoring it! Thank you for all that you do!

Poor experience with the humain society. There was an agreement between myself and an employee of the society to fill out adoption paper and pick up dog on Sunday. This is Friday. I was told dog was not ready to go today (friday).that was ok. I had even spoke with the original owner of the dog about taking the dog. I have provided them with food for several months and had planned to donate monthly to them. I called them to make sure they had my full name. I was told they were adopting out the dog today that was not the agreement we had but the person I spoke to were not very concerned about it. I could come down to the event and fill out application but that I would have been one of many wanting the dog and again that was not our agreement. They were real indifferent twords me. I have adopted from them before I am a loving home. I will never go through them again. I will never donate to them. I will never refer anyone to them. I had been looking for a dog for a long time. What a shame why let it.go this far.

I was so fortunate to find my forever friend at this shelter. From the day I saw Tuff at the gates and took him for a test walk, I knew he was as special as a dog could be. He has been a light in my life and my absolute best friend. After I adopted him, I quickly realized he is a take-anywhere, meet-anybody kind of guy. He has worked livestock in Wyoming, protected me on the streets of Sioux City, and moved across the country with me. I guess what I am trying to say is to ADOPT, because there are priceless animals at shelters like this one. I owe it to Beaverhead shelter to help me find my special dog.

I adopted a very loving cat yesterday! All the staff are very helpful and you can see their passion and genuine commitment to all the animals. I drove 150 miles and would do it again in a heartbeat for such a wonderful fur baby!

I recommend adopting from Beaverhead Animal Shelter! My husband and I drove from Bozeman to adopt our sweet and loving kitty from them. Staff is friendly, and passionate about the animals they care for at the shelter. Could not be happier with the outcome of choosing to adopt from them! Thanks again!

Unfortunately this shelter did NOT work out for us. I have selfishly sent all my donations, all my money to this shelter, for years! Simply because of their big dog program.. I honestly believed they had the big dog at heart. And appointments where honored!..Ugh... After several mastiff rescues, we unfortunately missed their mark. 30 years experience, and we were contacted as we were half there. Montana is not a small state, Takes a while to get places. . I really hope the mastiff (corso) entered the best home. After several communications over weeks, we were an hour late. Multiple weeks, an hour late! There's plenty of rescues in the state that need these donations. Please think elsewhere. Bonus, they did call! Just after we had already spent an hour on the road, and plenty in $. THINK ELSEWHERE! Please still donate!

It is the worst kennel I have ever seen. They straight up abused one of the pets of mine by dticking her in a cage and leaving it like that. My fog stunk so bad I almost puked. Try have my dog somewhere and won’t call to see how Angel is adjusting. The ignorance they showed is appalling. They should be shut down.

I give this business four stars. Not only were the people who work here extremely helpful. They were nice and friendly. They all came out to help unload the dog's that I have transported from Idaho. They wanted to know as much as possible about each dog so they could tell their new owners. They had no problem showing me around basically it was like a private tour. The place was neat and clean. All the dog's there seamed well taken care of. When people care about the dog's you can tell it's more than a job to them it's about the animals.

In august we chose a great smaller dog, we went back a week later and got another great smaller dog. They were very accommodating, helpful and offered good advice. We are so happy with our choices. Ricky and Peggy seem happy as well. They are the sweetest lap dogs.

From the outside it looks a little run down but they do a wonderful job on social media and placing pets! What I love most is they test their dogs for adoption with kids, other dogs, live stock, leash manners, commands, house training, etc. So you will know the personality of the dog you hope to adopt.

It's almost like they don't want to place dogs. I've been in there several times over the past few months I'm always told they have no dogs that fit what I'm looking for which I have very few requirements they take down my name and number I have seen several dogs on their website that sound like they would have been wonderful for me but I've yet to get to meet any of them----update I raised them from 3 stars to 5 it did take over a year before they finally said hey come look at this dog we think he is a match they were so right he is about as perfect for me as could be possible

This place has done a 180 for the better with new management and board of directors. They are keeping the number of adoptable animals at a level that allows them to take great care of everyone and they seem to have a high placement rate. The facilities are nice and comfortable for human visitors, too. Go walk a dog!

Had quite an off putting and odd experience today at the shelter...no one seemed to know what was going on and we were mostly ignored. The woman in front of me was trying to adopt, she seemed like a perfect pup mom, the woman at the desk-Susie, I believe-was incredibly strange and rude to the woman and ended up not letting her adopt, which made absolutely no sense, Susie seemed to deny her just because she could. I was so appalled by the way this woman was treated by staff that I left without adopting. Very sad. I wonder how many dogs or cats don't get adopted because of the unprofessional way this place is run?

We came over from Bozeman and we got a room the night before so we could make our early appt at 11am to meet and adopt a dog we were very excited about. We got a call 5 minutes before our appointment that the foster family decided to keep the dog we wanted to adopt. We are just out $200 and my poor 15 year son is incredibly heartbroken. They need to have some kind of policy for their foster families that don't allow them to do this. I will not do business with them nor will I recommend them. This has been VERY disheartening for my son and I.

Such a great crew of personnel and volunteers! I am grateful everyday for my Jenny girl as she is the finest companion ever. I travel with her all the time everywhere and she is my constant friend and protector. Thanks, Susie, for making the adoption process easy and for all you hard work.

I'd give this place a 0 out of 5 stars if i could.I have to write this under a fake name for fear of being recognized. I used to work as a volunteer at this shelter. the owner Suzie was rude, neglectful, and cruel to most of the animals in this pound. She would take most animals to be spayed or neutered, but that was the extent of the care to the animals. many of these animals, especially the dogs, suffer from kennel cough due to the unsightly conditions many of them would be under. And she refuses to feed the dogs in the yard if no volunteers are there to feed them. Not only that, but I had seen her on many occaisons refuse to adopt out a dog to someone because the dog was quote "Her granddaughter's favorite". also, I had never seen a single penny from an adoption go anywhere except her own pocket. All the money goes to her. I can remember full days of working in the hot sun training, feeding, watering, and caring for the animals only to come in to the office to find her on her backside counting "her" money. She would also complain about the humane society not having the money for basic animal care. Seriously, adopt an animal from this shelter and shut her disgusting animal ring down!!

the new leadership is okay, miles better than the old leadership. nonetheless the shelter is still a massive circus. they lose track of their foster dogs, and they hand out dogs to "foster homes" without so much as writing the fosterer's name down, let alone having them fill out an application. I have known multiple foster families who ended up being foster fails (awesome!! dogs going to good homes ❤️) BUT when the families went to the new leadership to make the adoption official, the shelter's response was "okay, pay the $XX adoption fee." I understand how shelters work, however to require payment from families who have volunteered their time and financial resources is pretty shameful. one of the families had even taken the foster pet to the vet and had her vaccines updated (on their own dollar). this rescue takes volunteers and foster families for granted. shameful.

Adopted our sweet luna (originally nathalia) from here in Sept 19. We were looking for a German shepherd dog that was well behaved. After being shown all the dogs, the lady recommended our girl. She was a perfect fit. After a lot of patience, and even more love, she has became the greatest dog we could've ever asked for. Thank you beaverhead for finding our perfect match.

Wonderful staff! Have adopted a boxer there and my roommate just adopted an English Bulldog. Both have and are the best dogs ever! I would adopt an older dog over a puppy any day.

Susie and staff are some of the most generous and caring people in Dillon. It takes a lot to run a shelter, and they do it well.
