We booked here for one night while staying at Yellowstone. Therefore we paid Yellowstone prices (high!) and had Yellowstone expectations (mediocre, at best!). Honestly, this was a good choice for what we needed. We checked in at 10:30 pm and checked out at 5 am. We never saw another living person because the desk is not staffed at night. Our keys were in a slot in the wall with our name on them. The rooms were clean (although they only have double beds, not queens, ugh) and comfortable. Seriously, we just needed to sleep. This was our cheapest option, but it was well-lit and felt safe and secure for our needs. Also, a huge perk is the Sinclair gas station right next door. They serve pizza by the slice all night long and also really good doughnuts and breakfast sandwiches in the morning. We ate there coming and going. We had a good night without too much damage to the pocketbook, and for that reason we would probably do it again if we took the same trip another time.

If you are doing Lamar Valley...especially in the evening...this is a great place to stay, close to Yellowstone Northeast entrance. They have a cute cat and dog : )We appreciated the recommendation for dinner at Miners Saloon (family friendly before 10pm : ) Pizza, burgers, vegetarian stuff too.Cooke City Visitor Center/Museum a must! Has free/great restrooms too. Fascinating Cooke history...and amazing museum.

Disappointing Welcome! Received early check-in email from Wyndham offering mobile check-in, with keys to be ready at the front desk upon arrival. Upon our arrival, we were advised by the receptionist that there was no such capability for mobile check-in, never has been, not at that hotel, and she went on and on becoming more and more upset, and confrontational in her tone. I advised I just received the email, and that she might want to further discuss the mobile check-in with Wyndham, not me. The behavior of the receptionist, and her harsh tone was surprising, and disappointing. We were on vacation! Had there been any other options available nearby, we would have cancelled and stayed elsewhere. We had no issue with checking in after 3:00 p.m. We quickly left and returned later in the day after fishing in Yellowstone. While the second attempt to check-in was better than the first, the receptionist's behavior had already colored our impression of the facility, and our stay. Glad it was just one night. Will not stay there again, or recommend.

What a fantastic experience...!! The management and front desk people are amazing. I do not know the name of the lady who was there on the night of Sep 5th but I must she that she is a very nice person. We brought dinner from outside and forgot to buy plate, when I asked her if she could manage two plates for us, she opened the locked door of the breakfast area and gave us 4-5 plates with a big smile on her face. She realized that we might need more than two. Small gestures talk a lot about a person and we are thankful to that beautiful lady who came to our rescue that night. Apart from that Room was very cozy, bed was nice, washroom was roomy and very nice. Yes there was no AC but that does not matter to me. I am hiker and can fit myself into any place. Come on it's small town outside the North East entrance of Yellowstone, do not expect the luxury of tier 3-4 cities. Breakfast was not large but I was fine with that, at least we got something to eat in such a remote mountain place and that was enough for me.

Lost a star cause their beds are a bit hard. Lost another star for the light switches not always working in rooms and for the heater not turning off. Other then that the employees are wonderful. They are friendly and try their best to make your stay nice. We did have to open our window a few times just to cool down the room cause it was so hot. The fan has to be switched on above on the fan. It took us days to figure that out. I think it is due for an update.... other then that it was lovely. Breakfast was nothing to SCREAM about... but it was good enough for a snack till you could get brunch else where. I would stay again.

This is absolutely the worst hotel I have ever stayed yet. There is no AC, so the rooms that smell like sewers gets ridiculously hot at night. We have also been put in the rooms just beside the ice maker, so I could not get a good sleep. The hallway is filled with some weird smell like food. The WiFi does not work. The washroom is also extremely filthy. Their breakfast only provides little food, and the pancakes are the only food tastes like human food. The price is insane considering what you are getting. It is just not worth it at all. Please avoid this place and spend the extra money to stay at the Yellowstone lodges, they are 100 times better.

My husband and I stayed here in June 2014 before heading into Yellowstone. We happened to snag the last room that was available. The hotel itself is nothing fancy, but they had what I expected: clean rooms, a great view of the mountains, quiet atmosphere, friendly staff, and a nice breakfast spread. After spending so many nights in a tent, it's nice to come into a clean, quiet place to take a hot shower and have a comfy bed to sleep in. I would go here again.

I come up to the Yellowstone area as often as I can to unplug, so I fully appreciate that there is no cell service, no radio or TV signals (apart from satellite), and very limited & slow Wi-Fi due to the remoteness of this location. So, if you’re coming up here expecting all that tech to work like it does in the big city, in my humble opinion, you’re not coming up here for the right reasons. That said, they do have satellite TV and Wi-Fi available at the hotel, but bear in mind because of the remote location, the WiFi is likely through DSL with limited bandwidth, so if you’re trying to get stuff done on your phone during busy morning hours when ALL the other guests are planning their days in and around the park, you’re likely to be disappointed. If you wait until a little later when most folks are out & about, you’ll get a much better Wi-Fi signal. It is what it is. You’re out in the sticks here in beautiful country. Not the fault of the hotel here. Also, there is no AC in the hotel, but I am of Scandinavian heritage and prefer leaving the window open all night, which is very pleasant thanks to the cooler nighttime temperatures in the area. You can also request a box fan from the front desk and they will happily loan you one for your room. There is plenty of morning coffee & juice, hot chocolate, and a few continental breakfast selections in the lobby (cereals, packaged muffins & pastries, instant oatmeal, breads for toast, etc.). If you’re looking for breakfast with a bit more protein options, there are a few restaurants a short drive from the hotel in both Cooke City and Silver Gate just a short drive on the Beartooth Highway. This is our second year staying here in September, and both visits have been very happy and pleasant thanks to the great staff. April & Dave are the BEST. I casually mentioned when confirming my reservation that this was a birthday trip for me, and they left us a lovely card & several gifts (including a peanut butter bear treat for my service dog), which I found in my room upon checking in. Super kind & thoughtful people like them just make a vacation like this that much more special! Can’t beat the views, either! Such a beautiful area.

Oct3, 2020 - I’m surprised at the negative reviews. We went on a 6-day road trip and ended up staying in 4 different Super 8 hotels. This was by far the best of that group. It was the only one that actually had a selection of foods for breakfast. Cereals, yogurt, juices, pastries, muffins, and hot chocolate. With 3 kids, it really helped cut our overall food costs. No AC in the room - just a ceiling fan; but it was 40° outside so no big deal. The only negative I can report is that the hallway was as bright as an Operation room.

By far the nicest super 8 I have been to! Located in beautiful Cooke City and 15 minutes from the NE entrance to Yellowstone! The staff are friendly and accommodating. The room is large and clean with a nice sized soaking tub. There is a complementary breakfast with waffles, oatmeal, coffee and cereals. Only downside is that the Wi-Fi was very weak and we had no cell coverage otherwise. Can't wait to return!

Clean hotel and great staff. Small town motel. No air conditoning but with the temp, you don't need it. Ask for a box fan, open your screened window and it's not an issue. No elevator, but only 3 levels and stairs are not steep. Loved the small town and 4th of July Parade!

Nice clean hotel. The staff was super friendly. Nice breakfast layout. The floors were heated so our clothes dried out quickly from sledding all day.

Only stopped in to find a pay phone because the power was out. There person at the front desk was not only super friendly, but offered to let me use their phone. The next time we find ourselves in Cooke City, this of where we will definitely stay. They also have a great little bakery/cafe next door, making getting morning coffee that much easier.

Comfortable room, clean and convenient. Great staff very attentive to needs. Great location. I left some medications there when I checked out. They were happy to mail them to my home address ( I paid postage). I would definitely stay there again!

Good hotel in Cooke City but town is noisy and there's no air conditioning so you need to leave your window up to cool the room. Breakfast is standard and the internet only works in the lobby.

The place was very well-maintained, probably the best in Cooke City given the choices. The rooms were very clean n brand new. Breakfast was good and the place is just a few miles from the Northeast entrance of Yellowstone Park.

Great location near the north east entrance to Yellowstone. Friendly staff and our room was large! We even had a Jacuzzi tub. The only thing I can say that is negative is there were too many carbs and no protein on the breakfast. The super 8 is located near lots of eateries within walking distance on main Street.

This Super 8 is fantastic! Very, very clean rooms, the managers are great. Super friendly and helpful. The local food is amazing. Definitely, try the bakery next door. Also, Prospectors restaurant has great burgers, and the Montaisa restaurant is great also. It is also close to Yellowstone and Beartooth Pass.

We stayed in mid-Sept., at the end of the season. The owners were as fresh and welcoming as though it were Spring. We had a great in-room tub with jets that were sooo relaxing. Saw bison & bears just up the road. Clean rooms, friendly folks! I want to go back.

Clean, minimalist room, as usual for a Super 8. What was strange is that although there is a thermostat, we could not detect any venting or air handling. The window opened, which was enough to control the temperature.Edit: the management contacted me after reading this review to explain that they use a boiler to heat the walls and floors with hot water. Makes perfect sense! If we'd needed air flow, there was a ceiling fan.

The food was amazing the carmalized bacon on my build a burger. Was wow . The club on the mark. Very nice people and the owner is an incredible cook. Outside the window in the mountain top a parasail popped and a crosscountry skier parachutes and comes right at us then turned in the parking lot.Good times
