We stayed here for 5 nights in June 2023. In cabin 1. 4 adult women and 1 baby. The cabin had everything we needed, was clean, beds very comfortable. The town is awesome, everyone is so friendly. None of us wanted to leave! Highly recommend Elk Horn Lodge!Food & drinks: The town is small enough that you can walk to the stores and places to eat.

My 2 boys and I were traveling along Bear Tooth highway and needed a place to stay. We had thought maybe to go all the way to West Yellowstone but ended up changing our mind when we saw this cool little town called Cook City. We liked this hotel and the staff so much that we ended up staying there for three days instead of just one. It's clean, welcoming comfortable and it was fun to go to some of the restaurants in the little town including the saloon. I enjoyed having conversations with the locals. If I pass through here in the future I certainly will be staying here.

I stayed here during a winter trip to Yellowstone; the place is 4 miles away from the NE entrance of the park and one of the very few places you can stay during winter. The rooms are cozy and have everything you need for a retreat, so close to the park. The hotel had translucent panels across the front, which I assume is to keep the snow away from pilling at doorsteps. The best part of the entire visit was Lisa and Jeff, who owned and maintained the property; they were great hosts and even checked in on me when I turned up later than initially expected. There are a few things to know (on what to do & who to reach out to) with the unique location, and they make sure everything is available in the room when you get in.

We had a fantastic stay at the Elk Horn Lodge in early June. This is our third trip to Yellowstone, and this has been by far our favorite place to stay. We really like Cooke City. The room was very nice. The beds were comfortable, and there was a table, dresser and tv. Everything was quite clean and we had everything we needed. Jeff and Lisa are awesome and have tips on what to see and places to eat. We left our camera battery charger in our room and they mailed it to us! I failed to take pictures of the room, but the views out of our door were fantastic! We hope to visit again in the near future!

My friend and I stayed here before a backpack into the Beartooth's. The owner's gave us both a LOT of very valuable information for our trek. They went above and beyond of what is expected for being a host. The room was spacious, clean and comfy.I will stay here again when in town.

If your looking to stay in Eastern Yellowstone I highly recommend this place! The rooms are plenty big, beds SUPER COMFORTABLE (and I’m very picky) and location is great! Lamar Valley was easy access and local restaurants were great! Big plus to Bear Claw Bakery and Miners Saloon, and MontAsia had some amazing food! Great family atmosphere, quiet area! If you can grab a room, don’t hesitate! This place is great!

I am just a backpacker who was passing through town and happened to walk in here after a week camping in the Beartooths. I was so glad I stumbled upon this place- this is one of the best hotels I have ever stayed at! The owners are excellent hosts - they are clearly passionate about their business. Clean rooms, friendly service, fair prices. I would recommend this place to anyone; I will be back!

We've stayed at Elk Horn Lodge in Cooke City for I think 9 consecutive years. We've stayed at two other lodges before, but Elk Horn Lodge is the best. The rooms are clean and very comfortable, the hosts, Jeff and LIsa, go out of their way to be gracious and helpful, and Cooke City is well located to access the Northeast Entrance to Yellowstone Park's beautiful Lamar Valley. The view from the upstairs rooms is wonderful for watching sunsets and lightning storms. The town is QUIET at night - which is a delight. If you love luxurious accomodations, parking valet's, and marble floors - this town is not for you. If you love fresh mountain air, quiet simplicity and 'getting away from it ALL', you will enjoy Cooke City, and I recommend Elk Horn Lodge highly.

A good place to stay for Yellowstone visitors. The cabins were very comfortable, the wifi worked well, and the service was friendly. The area is also amazing. It was small, quiet, but still provided everything I needed. There were very beautiful trails nearby if you want to do hiking. I would recommend this to anyone visiting Yellowstone through the northeast entrance.

My wife and I have been staying three days up to a week each year at Elk Horn Lodge for many years. Rooms are perfect for us and always clean. The owners are generous with information regarding hiking ,fishing and “must see things”in Yellowstone and the Beartooths. We look forward to seeing them, staying at their lodge and enjoying Cooke City and the natural wonders of the area. We always recommend Elk Horn to our traveling friends. Charlie Bussey

The Elk Horn Lodge is hands-down my favorite place to stay in Cooke City. The owners, Lisa and Jeff, are very friendly and accommodating and will make your stay at Yellowstone first class. The rooms are very clean and the decor is exceptional. I would recommend to anyone who is planning a trip to the park!

I had a fantastic stay at the Elk Horn Lodge. The room was super cozy and comfortable, and much larger than the standard hotel room. I mostly needed a place to sleep and the bed was great. I wish I could have stayed another day. The hosts were very friendly and helpful with information about the town and the area. I'll definitely stay here again if I am passing through this way again.

Great Place to Stay.I have been staying at the Elk Horn Lodge for a few nights a year for 5 years. It is always clean and comfortable. We go to Cooke City to stay away from the mad crowds in West Yellowstone. So writing a good review is a double edge sword. I love the city and love ElK Horn Lodge but I also do not want the secret to get out.But after reading some of the reviews I decided I should write one. If the worst thing people can say about this place is “they didn’t let me cancel for free”. It is a very good place to stay. And anyone who travels to resort areas understands a cancellation policy. And it is something that any rational person will understand as well. And who gives a bad review and doesn't give a reason why ?If you want a nice, clean, low key place to stay this is the place. I take my parents with me every other year to Yellowstone and they are near 70. They enjoy the rooms being a few feet from the parking. And that you can have a room on ground level if you want.Bathrooms are well kept and always clean, good water pressure. Good lighting in the bathrooms and in the room in general. The beds are good and the fold out couch is good. I have slept on it several nights with my infant daughter needing the bed.If you get one of the small cabins the kitchen is helpful and useful if you plan a head on what to cook and take with you in to the park. It can be hard to get supplies in Cooke City so plan to bring them with you.In Yellowstone area you run into rude people who are tired of tourist sometimes, I have never felt that from Jeff and Lisa or any help they have had at Elk Horn Lodge. I would recommend this place to anyone.

As usual, the rooms were very clean and very comfortable. The appliances- coffee maker, TV, microwave- all worked great. There was a brief power outage in Cooke City- due to a thunderstorm- and the hotel quickly delivered a lantern to the room! We will definitely be staying there again.

Stayed here October 13, 2019 to October 14, 2019. Loved it. The weather was perfect, the hot tub hot, and a very peaceful town. Will absolutely stay here again!!!! Cooke City is a very secluded town, WiFi at the cabin was great, outside of the cabin - it is non-existent. The weekend we went was the last weekend the town was "open." There was only 1 place to eat - breakfast, lunch, and dinner. But, the lack of us nowt knowing and being prepared was on us!!! the apple cider we made inside out cabin (provided by the lodge) was definitely a welcomed bonus!

There is no place better to stay in Cooke City Montana than with the family owned Elk Horn Lodge. Lisa and Jeff Ohlinger do everything possible to make your stay a wonderful experience. Cabins are clean and comfortable and access to Yellowstone Park as well as area National Forest areas for fishing and sightseeing are minutes away. From Lisa's homemade cinnamon rolls to help with your luggage and where to see the wildlife from Jeff, the Elk Horn is a memorable experience for your lodging needs when visiting Cooke City Montana. A definite must stay and 5 star lodge and hotel!!

Just four-miles outside the NE entrance of Yellowstone Park, this is a cute Bear and Moose themed motel right on Main Street. There is the two-story motel building and two cabins. The cabins have kitchenettes. We stayed at the end of the motel building in the Moose Room. It was large, clean and comfortable; comfy beds, good lighting, and very hot water! The owners clearly enjoy what they do. The comfortable porch runs the length of the building on both floors for outside sitting, and the entire motel is pet and smoke-free. There was adequate free parking in front and alongside the motel, off of a quiet side lane. They do not serve breakfast, but there are some good choices in town. They also offer a hot tub, for guests use after too much hiking.

We ended up at the Elk Horn on "accident" as we had a problem with another cabin in the area. The owner Lisa was very nice and friendly. We had no issues with our stay, other than the Wi-Fi is weak, which usually isn't a problem, unless you're a small business owner trying to take care of things while you're away from home. I liked the little touches around the room and it was clean. I only wish I could bring my doggie here in the fall to enjoy Yellowstone and the quiet end of the park. Overall, a pretty good stay, just a bit on the expensive side.
