Stopped for a night in August. Very clean and private rooms, priced very well. The store was well-stocked with fishing gear and basic groceries, and the people very down-to-earth, friendly and helpful. For those intending to fish, this would be an ideal home base, not expensive or snooty, and surrounded by world class trout water. For those only needing accomodations, this is a perfect find as well. I hope to return.

Absolutely loved this place! Hands down a great Montana experience. Perfect for the avid angler who wants to be close to rock creek and many other amazing waters. The staff is great and extremely generous and helpful either with your lodging needs or your fishing needs. Having the mercantile right next to your cabin is amazing and helpful.

You’d do yourself a disservice if you don’t stop by. Scenery is absolutely peaceful and beautiful. The pillows were very flat and the mattress was hard. With a little TLC the place could be a little more friendly but it won’t deter me from returning any chance I get. The restaurant is WAY GOOD. Missoula is ridiculous on what they charge for a room so I’d recommend staying here or press on out the state. I mean if you enjoy wasting $200+ a night for a room then why not just go stay in LA. If the owner wants a hand of “dolling up the place”, I’ll come give a hand! Very nice people and place to stay.

What a beautiful area of Montana. This family friendly and dog friendly fly shop and motel is a great find. Peaceful and fun place to stay. The rooms are spacious and just what you need after a long day of fly fishing or hanging out.

One of my favorite fly shops (places, actually) on earth. I’ve been getting great intel, tips, and Purple Hazes here for years. I love that they stock cold beer and firewood for our camping trips, too. This shop is a legend, and Johnny is keeping it alive and well.

I was on a road trip and drove down this road thinking there was an advertised gas station. As life had it, I discovered yet another jewel. Her store was quaint, felt familiar, and by far, the coolest fishing store ever. Okay, I may have a bias but anyone who meets Carolyn Persico will get it and I don't even know how to fish. Yeah, people, just go and make the visit. Life is worth it.

We always stop at the Mercantile on our way to our camp spot on Rock Creek. They have a great variety of fishing stuff ;) they have books and magazines. Local news and postcards. Some groceries and beer. And they have Stryder- a wonderful, lovable,mature golden retriever. He makes my day every time!

Very cool spot. You could press on into Missoula, but for $60/night, the hiking and fishing ops are dynamic. Rooms are ok, stuff worked and I slept just fine. Probably getting close to a a matress changeout though. I would stay there again.

I stepped in the store and instantly knew that this is where I was supposed to be. I came to fish. It had been years. This was the place to start again. It was a great day. All fly-fishers should stop here on their journey. I did. I won't forget it.

Great stop they had essential items and a few other things one might need for extended stay. A huge camping area near by but we only stopped in for ice. Interested in learning more about this place.
