I’ve never had an experience like this before. So It’s hard to rate. Everyone was nice just so much incompetence.I reached out on Apr 24 to inquire about a new rear tire for my Ghost. I gave Colton the specs and he referred me to Johnny. I called on the 25th and Johnny took my info. Having heard nothing, on the 30th I met w/Colton in the store. We started from scratch. I gave him all the specs again and he even took measurements of my tire. He found a tire online and said it would take 7-10 business days to arrive. That would be too long. I thanked him and left. Thursday, May 2, Colton calls to inform me that the tire Johnny ordered had arrived. I was no longer in the area.What in the world happened here?

Horrible vibes from an employee at the front today. I’ve been a co-op member for almost 10 years and have visited REIs all over the country and I’ve never felt stalked in the store before. I’m not going to spend a dime in another REI. I’ll shop, take pics, and buy elsewhere on principle. Bald guy up near the front 10/28/23

I went into REI for the first time ever today. I was very impressed with how helpful everyone was and the relaxed environment. There was a great selection of products, and one particular associate, Lane, was amazing at helping me get the hiking boots I wanted. Definitely will come back again.

This is the first time we've been to the REI Co-Op store in Billings. I swear we spent a couple of hours of looking and wishing. We purchased a few things and became Rewards members. The staff was super helpful, one in particular, Chris. We will definitely return.

A real outdoor store for adventure people. REI has great selections in many price ranges of high-quality products. The sales rep, Chris, that helped us was knowledgeable and very friendly. He explained the difference in several products without pushing for a sale. You could tell he just knows his stuff. There is a calm relaxed atmosphere and no stress, like when you go to other "huge" competitors that are in town. This is my go to for outdoor products for camping, and backpacking. I love all the eco friendly options and sustainability.

This place was awesome! I went in here to purchase a day pack. I had two in mind and just wanted to try them on to feel the fit. Chris in that department went above and beyond fitting me to the right pack. He even put my usual weight in the backpack so I could try it out. On top of that, the return policy is amazing. I will be going back.

I have been a member of REI since 1976! And I still am! There is a reason for that. They have what I want and the expertise to go along with what they sell!! I pack in, ski, enjoy the natural world! I don't need to go to a big box store and get lost. REI's people know their stuff, and will supply you with everything you need to know, and then some! They are my kind of people!!

An amazing place full of wonderful outdoor gear. The staff are very friendly and knowledgeable. Becca was able to help me decide which hiking backpack to use after finding out what size I was, trying on a couple of packs. She even added some weight to both after the initial time and requested I walk around with both packs with the added weight to get a feel for them both. I highly recommend this store and it was exactly what Billings needed. Definitely will be going back many times in the future.

Been going to REI since 2008. Awesome store for outdoor gear - hiking, camping, backpacking etc. REI brand is cheaper then ñame brand and lots of good products. Overall stoked that Billings has an REI now. Astounded people Would leave negative reviews which actually has nothing to do with the store but more with corporate policy. Just kidding… Google the dunning-Krueger effect.

I went in to buy a pair of light weight pants for living in tropical Colombia and a better, lightweight sunhat for birdwatching. Veronica, stellar staff, informed me of the sale starting on the 21st that would give me 20% off on the pants. So I'm delaying that purchase until the anniversary sale...save me 20 bucks...which buys three days lodging in Columbia...nice!! I bought a great sunhat that has a removable cape for neck sun protection. Very versatile hat for a range of conditions.Veronica gets top marks for product knowledge, shopping guidance without pushiness and professional conduct...and she's a birdwatcher!! Give the lady a paid holiday! She is a real asset to the Billings store and REI both 😇

I have had wonderful service and interactions the multiple times I’ve shopped at this new REI! Just today I got my bike tune up and it was same day service! The technician, Grant, was knowledgeable about my bike’s condition and walked me through what needed to be done to give me an estimate on the cost. All in all I always have a good experience shopping there!

Employees followed my family around the entire store and harassed the daylights out of my child and husband for having their mask below their nose. When the employee was told that they have asthma issues she was more aggressive and stood in our path and didn’t want to let us pass until they fixed “the problem.” We left our cart with the items we were going to purchase and decided we would support another store instead. No thanks REI. Won’t be back.

Walked through the store to the back wall to look for some work boots, passed by 6 employees with no greeting or offering of help. There were three employees talking at the door having a loud conversation in which I had to walk around to make my way into the store. I spent a total of 5 minutes in the store looking at boots in which I realized where not on display even though their website stated they were. When walking out I had to walk through the group of employees who were still standing talking to each other not greeting customers in which I had to walk in between to leave. This was my first time visiting this store and I will not be returning.

As much as I like REI, I don’t think this was a necessary addition to Billings. So many other Billings-worthy stores that could’ve occupied that plot of land. Unimpressed with the store employees, as well as the stock/selection. Would rather shop at Scheels or REI online.

Their store opened just yesterday, so it is very well stocked and staffed with helpful and attentive personnel. As of this opening they are giving away a few freebies and money saving coupon. It's a great place to shop!

Very unimpressedVery small selection, low inventory on the few things they do carry. To top it all off, they are mask nazis. I don't really see any reason to visit this place. Even if you want high end gear, they don't have much selection and you'll likely have to order it anyway.

WARNING !!REI now requires face masks to enter the store. Why ? I guess because some corporate controlling nitwit in the Seattle home office said so. Never mind the science because it's not there. Just somebody who wants to believe he can save the world, his petty little way, in his seldom visited store. Go to Scheels. Much bigger, nicer, waaay less controlling arrogance.Someone said "It's a private business, so they have that right." We all could get into a long discussion about that. We would need to include the little cake baker who doesn't want to create something that violates his religion and personal beliefs. We would need to include Facebook, YouTube, and Twitter who strongly discriminate against Conservative beliefs.In the meanwhile I won't go to REI. I guess I have to put up with Biden, government stupidity, control, and arrogance. But I damn well will not do that if I just want hiking socks. Scheels has nice hiking socks.

The building is absolutely beautiful and the employees were very kind however the selection was limited (may be due to COVID-19) and they didn't allow dogs..... Every REI I have ever been to has allowed dogs so I sure hope the owner here decides to change that rule other wise I will rarely shop there and go to Scheels instead.

When I walked in the store thought the place was nice, the greeter was very friendly and polite, upon looking around the store I was encountered by a second employee who made me feel uncomfortable so I left, and will not return. I’m sure it’s a great place but gave a bad first impression.
