Beautiful campground overlooking Lake Wappapello. High on the bluff, all sites have great views. Nice hiking path and boat access if you like to fish. We would stay again.Restrooms: Very clean

I love this place to go camping. But I won't do it till my babies are old enough to help us out lol. But it was really fun, and have a beautiful view where we camp ot. Amazing place with a beach lake and restroom/bathroom.Restrooms: Restrooms are clean and big. Very comfortable to use.

Our first visit and we enjoyed two nights camping. The campground is a typically well maintained CoE campground. In addition to a beach and boat ramp, campers can easily access the 3.0 mile Lake View Trail that can be used to reach the Lake Wappapello Dam and visitor center at the Spillway Recreation Area.

Nice family friendly sandy lake beach. We went during the week and there was no crowd. I like that it was roped off considering I have young children. The sand was a great texture and the views were great. There is a water thing to wash off the sand. I recommend bringing a beach umbrella for shade.

We had a blast. Stay at campsite right next tó lake. Went swimming everyday. Folks that live and work at campgrounds are super awesome and are helpful and nice as can be.

Very nice campground. Typical Army Corp Campground. Typical in that everything is perfect. Very clean. Full hookups in the southern loop with 30/50 amp power. All sites paved. There are two loops here. Loop 1 through 38 (the northern loop called The Lower Loop) and Loop 39-57 (southern loop called The Upper Loop). We arrived in October and The Lower Loop was already closed for the season. Hence, this review is only for The Upper Loop. All sites well designed for easy back in. When you pull in off the main road the first road to your left is sites 55 through 57. If your turn right then straight ahead is the main camping area, but just to your left are sites 50 through 52. From a walk around the campground it looks like all the sites are pretty level side to side But, from front to back you may be on a slope. The worst site here in my opinion would be site 39. It backs directly up to the very busy and noisy highway. I would avoid this site.Very nice marina within walking distance with a boat ramp. Nice paved hiking trail around the park. Shower and toilet facilities available. Picnic tables and fire rings at each site. Camp host on duty.

I am heartbroken by the manner in which I was approached by the current park attendant. She approached me at the boat dock area and asked what we (my 11 year old son and I) was doing there. I told her I camped so much here as a kid and I took my kid to ride his bike around and look at the water on my day off, and that I had spent a lot of time as a child with my grandmother at People’s Creek. I thought I was being approached to make nice conversation, as she never introduced herself or her “title”. She shook her head no the whole time I was speaking and kept cutting me off to say, “Well, you must not have read the sign!” I would have been happy to have parked in another area off of the campground, but I was in tears after speaking to this hateful woman. After being berated every time I tried to speak, I said, “I don’t need to hear anything else. We are leaving.”She then said, “Oh, isn’t it so nice to be rude? That’s a great quality in a person!”I am still so taken aback at how I was treated by this woman in front of my son. I was leaving without argument and she still wouldn’t stop. Then, she and a man, I assume to be her husband, followed us down to Speedy Cone, parked beside my car, backed out, pulled into another parking space, and then pulled off to the restaurant next to it. I was ready to call the cops at this point. They had South Dakota license plates.

Always clean and free to swim. Public restrooms and picnic table galore. It is always quiet during weekdays.

People’s Creek at Wappappello Lake has camping areas, a beach for swimming, and a boat ramp for launching a boat. Gave it a four because it’s not a clear lake, but we often enjoy the area for swimming, boating, picnics, and tubing.

Beautiful area and campground. I would have given it 5 stars, but the Hill going into and out of the lower campground was very steep. It was dangerous pulling out of the lower campground because of the hill and the fact that the driveway was between two hills on the road. So we had to really gun it to get up the hill, then slam on the brakes because someone was coming. If we stay here again, it will only be in the upper campground.

Site was the very level which makes setup off camper very easy. Not very empressed with the very busy highway next to camp site. Stayed at the upper level of the park and was hard to navigate the exit. The sign where to turn into the camp ground was missing causing some inconvenience trying to figure out where to go.

There are less rules and regulations at campsites in California. If you want to bring a dog or swim not next to kids with floaties I’d recommend going to any state park up by St. Louis, or out by Springfield. I’m not surprised the surrounding towns are so run down considering this area is so unfriendly to visit.

Wonderful campground, friendly attendants ,very helpful. Beautiful lake, well maintained facilities. The restrooms have shower stalls in them. Makes it easier to get the whole family showered. New changing/restrooms. Life jackets provided for young swimmers.Negatives: so many cigarette butts on the beach that it was like sitting in an oversized ash tray... disgusting.Pavilion on the hill had a lot of trash within the rock hill behind and beside the pavilion. Does nobody clean up after themselves anymore????

Nice shaded campground with electric and water hookups a short walk from the lake and beach. Toilets and showers were okay, but the exhaust fans were loud.

It's so nice and relaxing. Fun for the whole family. The water can get something in it though to make ear infections so beware of that after.

I had a great time camping at People's Creek this weekend. The gentleman at reservation # was very helpful and courteous. The people in the info booth and at the camp ground were very friendly and know their jobs. The Camp Grounds were very clean and enjoyable I really enjoyed the quiet nights!

Excellent signal, close to Poplar Bluff which has everything you need for your stay here. It's clean and a short walk to a swimming beach and boat launch. Mosquitos are bad day or night here.
