Unfortunately, I can't recommend this place to adopt from. I adopted a cat from them that had some serious issues such as not peeing in the litter box. I resolved the issues after the first 2 months. They were fully aware I have a well trained dog. They were completely unconcerned about the dog. The cat had previously been returned for prior issues of peeing outside the litter box. They had no issues with me adopting the cat.Fast forward to now, I saw a dog currently available for adoption and met him twice in person. I filled out an application. My application was put in first. I was told I could foster to adopt. Now I was told I can't do that, but I could adopt another dog just not this one. And they also told me that another employee where the dog is being housed wants to adopt the dog. They're so worried about my cat and this dog. It's ridiculous. They are aware I've adopted other rescue dogs that have had issues in which I have had to train them and take them to professional trainers. I have called and asked to speak to the manager Allison and was denied that opportunity. Needless to say, I'm done with this place. There other rescues that don't act like this. This type of behavior is very disappointing. I was hoping to add this dog to my loving family. They would probably have a higher adoption rate if they would stop playing games. These animals just want a forever home.

Wonderful people giving their all for the sake of goodness and the defenseless! If you have the desire for companionship and the capability to provide a loving home, please adopt! Too many animals been left behind primarily by choice, by those not long term serious about such commitment. If you don't intend to keep your animals through their entire life, through thick and thin you should not have a pet, until and unless you are. Adopted THIS amazingly gentle boy from FCHS recently. He was apparently well cared for in his prior arrangement and will now continue to have a good life for all his remaining days! Thank you to Ryan for fostering Cobra and the staff at Franklin County Humane Society, for ALL they do!!John, Villa Ridge

Called and they didn't seem to want to help taking a few kittens. Drove there anyway as we didn't know what else to do with them (was helping an older lady from church take care of a litter a stray had on her property). and the 2 staff members with 2 customers ahead of us wouldn't even acknowledge we were there or waiting. 15 minutes later we decided to leave. Complete trash.

They took care of my two escape artists and didn’t judge me for anything—that alone says a lot. Thank you guys once again for taking care of my boys while I fixed the fence in order to prevent any future mishaps!! They had a little vacation I had a mini stroke! 😂 would recommend —highly!

I needed to turn over a dog that showed up in the middle of the night because mine was in heat and I had searched for his home for 2 hours and needed to go to work. Anyhow, the humane Society did not open until eleven a m, I showed up there at about 10:15 am...and I was helped immediately by 3 employees who all seemed eager to help!In case you are wondering...I did later in the day find the owner and let them know where he was located. Dog is now chipped and back with his loving family :) 😀

I have talked to them several times about finding a dog that is the right fit for our home. I am very impressed by everyone's knowledge and compassion for the animals there. Every person i talked to had detailed information about the dog we met with and had great information about how to introduce him into our home. I am very impressed and grateful for everyone there.

Really Respect this organization. Brought a 100.00 worth of food there,,it was cat and a large bag of dog food off their own preferred brands list. A little disappointed that they said,, just sit it outside, we will get it soon. Was a little concerned that it would get stolen, it was food meant for unfortunate animals, not people trying to be cheap. The employee said that if they steal it they must really need it.Would of carry it inside if they were short handed. Pets with no home are my soft spot.

Well they did take the two cats my roommates son abandoned on him. But, truthfully, the girl that checked the cats in was not the most pleasant. Understanding though, I'm sure she probably gets disgruntled pet owners often. With this said, I do think she could have been more understanding and pleasant. Overall the experience wasn't the best.

I put 4 stars because they are obviously doing their best with what they have been given. That said, they seem to desperately be in need of more help (I only experienced front desk/ customer relations) and more space. Their cat room is a wonderful use of space.

The shelter is wonderful for the animals and I have adopted from here more than once. I have donated all kinds of things over the years and each time received a thank you. We waited outside for them to open and took in two large boxes of gently used toys for the shelter dogs. The girl at the counter was rude and curtly told us to just go outside and put them in the wooden chests outside. Since it had been raining and was supposed to rain all day I expressed concern that they would get wet. She waved me off and turned away. I had been dismissed. No thank you or anything that even closely resembled appreciation. I do it for the animals and will continue to donate whenever I can, items and money. But I was treated very rudely for the first time in the history of the FCHS. I hope she doesn't have contact with the animals because they deserve to be treated kindly.

I filled out an application - no response. I left a voicemail the next day - no response. This is my only experience with the shelter. I fully appreciate that they are busy; however, it’s hard to adopt an animal from a shelter of you can’t get anyone to call you back.

Super friendly and helpful place! We met a dog at an event and they were slightly worried about placement (he was very energetic and had been brought back twice already) so they really worked with us to make sure our home would be a good fit for him, especially since we have young kids. Turns out he fits perfectly in our house and has been here for 5 months already!

The staff was great. We had to wait about a week and a half before we could pick up Hastur but they let us visit our puppy at the shelter during that time.

Attempted to adopt two dogs from them, was interviewed by multiple people in the office would not let me adopt until brought other family members up along with my dog. Had to pay a 20 dollar hold fee and told to come back the next day with my wife and dog between 11 and 4. Next day I rush after work along with wife and to get there before 4 making it with 5 minutes to spare and told they can't do it since it's almost 4. Asked me to put another 20 down and come back the next day. I've already taken two trips to adopt two dogs from your overwhelmed pound so no thanks. I told them I would not and lost my 20 bucks and all respect for the local humane society. I wonder why they have double the animals your supposed to have...

We have adopted three animals from FCHS over the years and recently a new kitten. We have been pleased with our experience. The animals were clean and ready to go when everything checked out. The ladies that work there are friendly and good with the animals..

We adopted a beautiful dog from the Humane Society a couple of weeks ago. And I must admit that I didn't know what to expect when visiting here. To my surprise, I found the place to be very clean, and staffed by a group of extremely caring and professional people. We were able to meet and play with the dog in a separate room full of toys, and get to know her. Then they arranged for us to bring our other dog up there to meet and take a walk together to see if they got along. Upon adopting the new dog, we received a full medical report of her speying, and shots, and what number to call to have her chip transferred to our names. All the veteranary work was done at The Pet Station next door. We also received a free visit to the Pet Station for a follow-up exam. All of this was included in the adoption fee. Which was more than reasonable. All in all, it was a very good experience, and I can't recommend them highly enough. I understand too, that they are now a "No Kill" shelter. So please, pay them a visit, you won't be sorry.

I went here hoping to adopt a dog but left very disappointed. I introduced my current dog to two of their dogs, and the worker told me both interactions were good. She said that I can start filling out an application for one of them that day. So, I took a few minutes to talk it over with my family, and I came back in and told them which dog I wanted to adopt. All of the workers went in the back for a decent amount of time, and someone finally came back and told me it isn't a good idea to adopt the dog due to how the interaction went with my dog. They said it would be too stressful for my dog and the household and I'd end up bringing him back. I was very disappointed considering that is the exact opposite of what I was told like 15 minutes before. I explained that I will be moving back to school soon and he would go with me. So, in the mean time, there would be plenty of room in my house for the dogs to have their separate space and still be happy. They didn't care. I called the next day right when they opened and left a voicemail. I called again. Finally, right before they closed, someone called me back and said he got adopted that morning. It is very frustrating that they were not up front from the beginning and were not willing to work with me whatsoever. Very disappointing that they don't care..

I never shared my review and I feel awful. We got our Little Gracie from this shelter after years of searching for a pitBull basset hound mix and we finally found her. The perfect combo of our loved past babies. We met her and took her home the same day. They even gave is a leash to take her home on since we weren’t planning on making a big decision at once. They were kind and did follow ups on her. They truly care about their animals. I recommend them to everyone.

Very friendly staff and volunteers, dogs seem to adjust very well while in their care. Kitties looked good and had huge play area where you could go in and play with them. Also, clean bathroom, which is not always a given away animal shelters! Great operation going, overall.

Great place. Amazing employees who really care for the animals. I go there after school and they are very kind. Very clean. Doesn't stink like some other humane society's do. I absolutely love this humane society and I plan to volunteer. 5 stars!!! ❤

Ridiculous! My granddaughter and I go in to look at the puppies, because she wanted a puppy. She found a beagle mix, cute little thing named River that she just fell in love with! They put us in this room with 2 chairs so my granddaughter can play with her and see if the dog likes her back. She was so scared at first until she started loving on her then she started licking her and wagging her tail and stuff. While I was filling out loads of paper (application) she was playing with the dog. See, we thought we got to bring the dog home THAT DAY. After all of that and my granddaughter so excited they told us the manager has to check over all the applications and SHE gets to pick the one SHE wants that's BEST for the dog. They told us they would CALL and let us know what's going on and stuff. Waited TWO days, with no calls. Called and asked how River was doing "fine blah blah" when they probably already gave her away to someone, and they don't wanna call us or anything. My granddaughter is VERY hurt. She fell in love with that dog, and they teased us! The people are friendly though and they take nice care of their animals. Give them their shots, fix them, and so on. But to do this to people, kids, teenagers ex is ridiculous! Also I heard that they kill the dogs that aren't wanted?? How can people get the dogs if you guys are so picky and unfair! Have fun trying to give dogs a "forever" home when y'all don't even let the people have them. Our hearts are broke and my granddaughter will never forget this. We already got all her doggy stuff, but come to find out she never got the dog. ☹

Personally I love this place it is where I got my two little angels gizmo and dexter both male kittens. And I don't think I could ever be happy without them. Even though the kittens don't have their shots yet, they are worth everything! And the people saying that they are full of fleas they are totally lying! The cats are healthy and they are perfectly fine. The place isn't a freaking kill shelter!! They are amazing and anyone that says that they have fleas and saying that there is a kill shelter are very wrong! this place is great and a lot of people should adopt animals there instead of buying them because there are tons of dogs and cats are waiting to be adopted and people just hate this place for some reason and I want to spread rumors about this place that aren't true! And to all those people that spread rumors are horrible and shouldn't even talk about it if they're going to do that because they're just lying! Anyway I'm gonna stop talking and I'm gonna let you decide that for yourself but please take my advice and if you're looking for a dog a cat go here because it's the best place for a shelter
