Where do I begin? I was not planning on purchasing any reptiles, but ended up adopting two baby tortoises that I will love and cherish forever. John the owner gave my friend and I an incredible a discount on two Russian tortoises. John and his team allowed my friend and I to look and hold all of their amazing reptiles they had. John also gave us a fair deal on 3 wristlet keychains. They’re extremely knowledgeable when it comes to all sorts of reptiles and amphibians. Will definitely be coming back to their store. Went to new store today and got some fantastic isopods. New store is super nice and prices are very fair for isopods. Great selection of different species and also springtails. The gentlemen who were there were very helpful and kind. They let us look as long as we liked and answered all my questions. Even let me see the baby tortoise. Such a great experience. I look forward to going back again.

If you’re are looking for reptiles. This is definitely the place in Springfield, Mo. The employees were absolutely incredible. They were very knowledgeable and helpful!! I went to a couple different places in town and they had no idea on certain reptiles let alone the actual facts of taking care of some. This place has my business from now on. We purchased two green anole’s and a Venus Fly Trap. They rescue reptiles as well they can order certain kinds if need be. Go check them out. They are located off south Campbell in Springfield. This place was amazing omg they have tanks of axolotls and soooo much more.. crested geckos turtles chameleons snakes so much! most needs for you friendly amphibians you can find there and soooo helpful! They helped us set up our palladium with ease.. small business great ppl awesome creatures!

Just bought some Isopods and had such great experience. Both guys (forgot to ask their names) were super friendly and very knowledgeable. All animals looked very well taken care of. You can tell the employees love what they do because we talked for a long time about different types of species and husbandry. Will definitely be going back up there again!

I went in to just browse and ended up getting to talk to the most knowledgeable friendly people I've ever talked too! They were so sweet and showed me all the different creatures and told me all about their personalities and everything else you could want to know about them! I would 10/10 recommend coming to the shop to see all the cool animals, plants, and gorgeous tanks they have set up!

I stopped in for some isopods for a terrarium last night, I went in not knowing a lot about isopods but left with two different species and a ton of knowledge on how to care for them! Everyone was so amazing and knowledgeable, and I got an added bonus of show & tell of different isopod species, amphibians & reptiles.

Frog Family treats you and your reptiles like family. They have helped me and my two turtles immensely. From helping us get the right supplement when my baby turtle had a vitamin deficiency to making sure my eldest had a good fogger to keep his skin moist. They take excellent care of their animals and their customers.August the Three Toed Box turtle gives them six toes up.

Excellent and sincere customer service, knowledgeable staff, amazing selection, and you can really tell that everyone there cares about all of the animals. A perfect example of a small business doing everything right!I've never had much experience with any reptiles or amphibians but my son had been asking for a pet of his own for a while and had taken interest in the leopard gecko. He and I made a deal that to prove he is responsible enough for a pet he had certain goals he needed to reach by the end of the year. For motivation though, I did want to start looking around to get ideas of what to expect and what was available in our area.We went to a couple bigger name stores and they did have leopard geckos, cresties, bearded dragons, and ect. but the difference in experience between those stores and Frog Family Reptile Shop was like night and day.John in particular has been absolutely wonderful to work with. He's highly knowledgably but easy to talk to with a pleasant and laid back demeanor. He showed us different types of geckos and let the kiddo handle them to get a feel for them. Honestly, I was a slightly nervous as my son has high functioning autism and new experiences for him can be conflicting and/or overwhelming, even if it's something he wants. John observed his interactions though with the geckos and said he did great and didn't see any concerns with handling which put me at ease.The leopard geckos they had were definitely cute with their own little personalities but it was actually an African fat-tailed gecko that my son wound up falling in love with. I had no intentions of bringing anything home that day as I still felt it was important that my son hold up his end of the deal we made in proving he is responsible enough to care for a living critter.I was more than relieved though that John said we could put money down on that exact gecko to hold her for us so no one else could buy her! I don't believe we would have had this option at a bigger chain store. It has meant a great deal to us and has been such a good motivator for my son. He's gone out of his way to do research and be more responsible already.I can be a little socially awkward sometimes and I worried that we'd be a bother if we went back every week or so to visit the gecko as a continuing motivation for my son but every time we've been in John has been genuinely welcoming and so patient stating that that is why they do what they do and I believe it. You really get a feel that on top of providing these wonderful animals to customers they also want to educate, find them good homes, and are passionate about the whole business. Even my son stated that he wanted to work strictly with them in regards to getting the enclosure and then once we bring her home, getting any supplies and food from only them because, "They are a small business, mom, and they are really nice and they need our support!" So, obviously he's just as big of a fan as I am.Working with them so far has been a wonderful learning experience. It's, obviously, also been a great example to my son in regards to the benefits of working with small family owned businesses. Not to mention the time, thought, and consideration of responsible pet owning. That starts with buying your pet from people you trust, who are knowledgeable, and truly care for their animals. Which, Frog Family Reptile Shop is all of those things and more!

Super nice, friendly, and knowledgeable. Even let me kiddo be a kiddo and handed him a toy to play with while we picked out the perfect fit for our home and it’s needed setup.We own a plant shop and this is our little Daenerys we got yesterday, and a temp setup while I continue to improve it. This is our first reptile and we’re just over the moon with her. Fits our family perfectly. Had it not been for the help of this store, we probably would’ve gotten something different and I don’t think we would have been as happy.I highly recommend them. They have some plants, too!!

My son (5yrs) and I stopped in the other day. My son has been asking about a owning a gecko for about 2months and we are exploring if it would be a good option for our family. my son was very curious and asked a lot of questions to workers about different animals and they were patient and answered his questions and let him look at all the different reptiles they have. we are planning to go back again and see more animals.

I had the first and best visit to the Frog Family Reptile Shop. I was hoping to buy an iguana, some lights, accessories and more. The staff gave ne a quick tour and were very accommodating and helpful. After selecting my new iguana, and other needed items, I was off to cath my busses home. It was a happy and productive visit for sure.

Super nice and really helpful. Went in to get crickets but ended up asking questions about my white tree frogs about doing a bioactive substrate. Not as hard as I thought it was going to be after they explained it to me. Highly recommend!

Amazing shop! Seems to have great stock at great prices. I bought some cleanup crew critters for my bioactive crested gecko enclosure and got *so many* for the price I paid. Absolutely worth it! There are plenty of feeder insects here as well, and I definitely plan on coming back for BSFL and fruit flies! All the animals appeared healthy and alert. The owner is knowledgeable and answered every question I had clearly and concisely. He was quite friendly as well!

Been in multiple times and everyone is always really enthusiastic to chat about herps, show off their animals, talk about ongoing projects, and share their knowledge in the hobby. They really know what they're doing and obviously strive to have unique and healthy animals. I was really impressed at how many of their animals are ones they've bred and raised themselves! They also have a nice selection of hardscape materials and plants for terrariums. One of the best reptile stores I've been in, and the only locally owned one anywhere near Springfield.I'm also adding some pictures of my tomato frog from them, and bragging about how good their bioactive tropical substrate mix is because my plants are growing like crazy

They're knowledgeable and friendly, the shop is well organized, and they've got a wide variety of animals available.My one issue with them, and it's a big one, is their pricing. Their supplies and enclosures are unreasonably expensive. I was also asked to pay several times what a chain pet store would charge for feeder crickets - I paid what was asked because they've been really nice, but I can't go back if I'm going to pay that much every time. I really expected better from them.

They have extraordinary knowledge on reptiles and clearly care about their babies there. However, I'm not a fan of the $2.60 for four extra small crickets. The prices at the store (especially setups, accessories and feeders, enclosures specifically) are at least $75-$100 more than you would find elsewhere – and those are just the enclosures themselves, not kits.I adore the atmosphere and staff and their babies, I'm also so glad for their big move, however I will not be going back with those atrocious prices.Disappointing, as I was really hoping for a more reasonable, local, awesome reptile-specific shop.

I’ve been coming to them for several months now. I’m very impressed by their operation. They breed and raise their own livestock at their private breeding facility (don’t have to worry about potential shady practices with non-self-produced animals and wild-caught individuals). Every time I visit the shop, the enclosures of the available animals are always clean and well-kept. The staff are incredibly knowledgeable and amiable. I’ve come in many times just to ask husbandry troubleshooting questions alone, and they have always been inviting and very free with their advice. They seem to have a real passion for education. The kind of knowledge I’ve gleaned from them is the kind of information you could never get from just reading books or forums. They’ve been an invaluable lifeline in my venture into the complex nature of herpetology. I highly recommend their services!P.S. As others have said - yes - their mascot Tegu, Zeke, is quite the charming gentleman!

The owner of this shop is super knowledgeable and more than willing to share what he knows. We could tell he truly enjoyed being in the store on a Saturday talking reptiles with us. Much better selection and quality of products than big box stores in town. Support local and visit your locally owned reptile & amphibian store for all your supplies. It's worth the visit just to see the shop Tegu Mascot!
