I am ssoo grateful, as inconvenient as it can be to work on Saturdays that they were open & willing to squeeze my little therapy cat in for reassurance. Ardbeg had gotten cornered & partly caught/ mauled by 3 dogs the night prior. I was a vet tech in the army for 20 years, worked in a couple of emergency veterinary clinics as well. I triaged him, did what needed to be done, & in the am, he was slightly improved, but knowing the concerns of hidden injury trauma, & this kitty being extra special I was okay getting him seen. The staff was awesome. Encouraging, relatable, patient, kind. Respectful, & even with many other owners coming into the clinic with pets under special / difficult circumstances the veterinarians and staff were empathetic & spending quality time with each owner & their pet. Kudos & much thanks.

Edit: Dr. Smith reached out to me within 24 hours. She explained the circumstances of the day, which I can understand and am empathetic to. I expressed that my concern was with the fact that I was hung up on. Current economic pressure has caused some difficulties and I do believe that Dr. Smith is doing her best to fix the problem. She is also a competent vet and seems knowledgeable in regards to her vet services. I have updated my review in lieu of our conversation. I will still be going else where in the future.I have been using Smithville Animal Hospital for years and have never had a problem until today. Called after coming home to my dog not wanting to get up and walk. Was immediately put on hold for 5 minutes. I called at 4:26 and then was off hold at 4:31, only to be told the vet had just left for an appointment she had. Which I totally understand she is a human with a life as well. The receptionist however was not very helpful. When I asked about somewhere I could called she didn’t know and had to ask someone else. Her only response was down 45 minutes to an hour away. When I voiced frustration, calmly and without any raising of my voice or vulgar language, about how I wish I hadn’t been put on hold that long her response was to say they were short staffed and just hang up. Not other suggestions or concern for my dog. Not attempt to find another solution like talking me through symptoms or making an appointment for tomorrow if possible. Just hung up the phone. Needless to say I will be finding a new vet. Which is a shame as Dr. Holly has been great. Wouldn’t recommend mostly for customer service is poor.

Best place I've ever taken my furbabies! Very friendly staff and knowledgeable about animals. They show so much care and put me at ease regarding any worries I have. I would give zero stars if possible.Been going here for over 6 years and was just treated like less than nothing in office. I sent an email to address what happened in office. When the vet called they actually told me I was liar again and I don’t even understand why. I was just repeating the events in the order they occurred in office.I don’t recommend this vet, unfortunately even after several years of committing to this practice. What a shame. The vet actually raised her voice at me on the phone, terrible business practice.

April was great! Greeted right away with a smile. Answered all of my many questions and made me feel comfortable. Becca reviewed discharge orders and was very compassionate and wonderful with our new baby girl Daisy. Thank you for your amazing care of our new pup. Excellent service, caring friendly people. The vet spent 45 minutes with me as a new patient answering all my questions and gave much appreciated recommendations.Update 5 months later:Love the front desk staff! Our puppy was a rehome and has records from another clinic under a different name. So his vaccinations were in question, but once that got straightened out, it was fine.His neuter incision looks great. Our puppy was home within 7 hours and back to his old self in a day.

I have been taking my 18 year old cat to another vet close by for years. I came home one evening to find her close to death. My vet was booked the next day and they could not see her but I could "drop her off to be euthanized." I was shocked and heartbroken. I called another vet and they were too busy to help me. Smithville Animal Hospital was booked too but they went out of their way to help us. They found a way. They hugged me and cried with me. They did not let her suffer. I can't thank you enough for what you did.

The entire staff was wonderful! I took my sweet Bella in to get groomed (she did have to be sedated for her safety, which I knew) and they were all wonderful and kept me updated every step of the way on how she was doing! I can’t recommend Smithville Animal Hospital enough to anyone.

My family has gone to Smithville Animal Hospital for YEARS and they have always shown the utmost care for all of our animals. They are honest, caring, and go above and beyond to make you and your pets feel comfortable. They always help thoroughly explain diagnoses and procedures when our pets are in the office and are always able to get them in quickly when needed. I cannot recommend the sweet folks at Smithville Animal Hospital enough!

I highly recommend. We called several places and they got our baby in quickly. Unfortunately we lost our baby that day but the staff was very compassionate and gave us options amd didnt rush us to make a decision. They walked us through every step of the way. We even received a sympathy card in the mail the next week. If we ever decide to get another pet Smithville Animal Hospital will be the only place we will use. Even if it is 40 miles away from our home they are totally worth it! Thank you to the staff for making our Sassy Mae comfortable and finding the peace she finally needed.

My dogs have seen Dr. Holly for a couple of years now, even before she took over the practice earlier this year. Dr. Holly and her staff have always been wonderful, caring, and professional in their care of my dogs. When one of my dogs was diagnosed with bladder cancer last year, Dr. Holly was compassionate and thorough in her explanation of the condition and was ready with a plan of action. She was honest and didn't try to push for unnecessary tests or procedures. We did updated blood work this year. Dr. Holly called me to go over the blood work in detail and to tweak our game plan. She, as well as her staff, have always been willing to take the time to answer my questions and have treated my dogs as their own. I (have and do) highly recommend Smithville Animal Hospital to anyone looking for a caring, compassionate, honest vet and staff. Oh, and my little 16 year old girl with bladder cancer - still with us and doing well.

After getting a new puppy, I tried getting into the veterinarian that we’ve used for our previous pups but they weren’t taking new clients. Smithville Animal Hospital was recommended to me & they definitely did not disappoint! Their staff is very easy to get along with & are always so kind. Even though it was sad to know we couldn’t go back to where we used to, I’m so glad we found a place like this that matches where we used to go. 🙂 If anyone asks me for vet recommendations, this is where I would tell them to go!

Our dog has received excellent care ! Because if Civil, they come to our car to get her and then call to talk to us to get more information before the exam. We receive another call after the exam and everything is thoroughly discussed. She is so cared for and we appreciate everything they do!

Love Dr. Holly! We are new to Missouri. I have a seven year old bull terrier. With special needs. Three legs, skin issues, daily medications, and hates his feet touched. We weren’t in the room five minutes and she had most of his problems figured out. One blood test and were on our way to a happy healthy dog! And the sweet ladies cut his nails for me while we were there too. Everyone that has helped me at Smithville Animal Hospital has been so kind and patient with all our questions and concerns. I highly recommend them!

They have taken good care of Mandi for a couple of years. When she fell a year ago they had her spend the day at the hospital so they could observe her. They recommended some supplements for her which worked great. What a great team!!

I have been going to Dr. Tom at Smithville Animal Hospital for several years. I find the entire staff to be knowledgeable, professional, caring and friendly. Debbie at the front desk does a great job with scheduling and keeping everything running smoothly. Dr. Tom has help us thru having two of our dogs cross the Rainbow Bridge and welcoming a new puppy. Dr. Tom listens to you and your pet....offers advice and options. I find him to be extremely caring and patient. I wouldn’t take my four legged children anywhere else!

Under new ownership!When run by Tom Del Pico they were great. Always on top of things, friendly, and great communication. Now they are seem to only be interested in $$. They don't keep track of vaccine records and try to double up. For procedures they have a long list of ridiculous up charges, "like how much is your pet worth to you?". I would not recommend using them but if you do make sure you get all costs up front. We were quoted ~$250 for a procedure. The bill was $420 and it wasn't completed as expected. We removed our records from them and will never be back.

We love Smithville Vet Hospital. We looked for a vet for months and finally found Smithville and we will never look back. Their staff is amazing...kind, knowledgeable and extremely professional. They know my dogs and cats by name and always treat us all like family.
