I went with my aunt and uncle, who is a Vietnam Veteran. There is a 20-minute video I highly recommend watching before touring the battlefield and remnants of the fort. There are artifacts in the museum with explanations. It's definitely worth the trip and several great restaurants to enjoy lunch. It is located about a mile from the Arcadia Academy, which offers free tours and phenomenal food.

This was my second time visiting. I liked it so much the first time, I came back. Well preserved, Informative staff, nice artifacts. They tell the story well of the battle and the importance of the location of Ft. Davidson and its importance to the war effort.

The drive to the site is easy and quite beautiful. The site is well documented and has a great museum with many relics from the area and an extremely knowledgeable staff. Visit this little known but important part of US History.

I have passed by several times, but never stopped. Finally did and was surprised by the size of the battle and cool seeing how small the fort was and hole that still exists from the powder magazine blowing upVisited the museum, will nice film over viewing the background of the area and the battle. Staff was very helpful, so definitely stop in if passing by and you have an interest in the Civil War

Great little stop. The staff was not very helpful. We kinda wandered around. Finally asked about where we should walk outside. Took the gentleman a long time to find a paper with information on it. Would have loved if they had done a tour but I understand funds and staff are limited. Loved the history here and the artifacts.

Great historical site with friendly staff. Make sure to ask staff to turn on the middle display, that does a great explanation of what happen. Staff will take groups on outside tour.

Just a tiny museum on a beautiful piece of historic land where the Battle of Pilot Knob took place! Lots of information and cool things to look at from the history of that battle and the area!

A well-maintained park dedicated to the Union Civil War fort that once held fast upon these very grounds. The fort was subjected to the opening engagement of a confederate general during his raid, where a bloody battle waged on September 27th, 1864. Over a thousand confederate lives were lost in an attempt to take the fort. The deep moat, steep walls, covered fire, and Ketchum Hand Grenades kept the southerners at bay. Today you can still see the remains of the fort's earthen works jutting from the landscape. Signs that depict the battle in chronological order guide you through the battlegrounds. A modest museum set with Civil War artifacts, an educational video, and exhibits will tickle your intrigue. Park benches, well-cut grass, and shady trees gives this historic site a superb picnic location. Stop by for a quick taste of history, or your lunch.

Put this on your list of sites to visit if the civil war is your thing. Nice area for the family to visit. Would definitely recommend, also stay the night across the street at the Fort Davidson Hotel!

Great spot for a field trip, my kids loved running around and posing with cannons, there is a 17 minute video you can watch, and they have several restored battle flags and weapons. Was going to pop in for a minute for the memories of being there as a kid, but we ended up spending more than an hour there!

My father restored this cannon and donated it to the Missouri Historical Society a few years before he died. It was important to him to share this monumental piece of history

The museum was very well done for a small museum, but the outside exhibit was fascinating because you could still see the old earth in trenches, and they laid out the story so well even the kids thought it was cool! There was a local playground, kids could also play at if they were bored with the history portion.

If you are a history geek you will like it. My brother and I were up on the mountain in the background looking for artifacts. That's were the Confederate soldiers had to cannons shelling the fort
