Cabins are a bit outdated. The pool water was cloudy and had an off smell to it. That being said the lady who was working Saturday night on oct 7th is what saved this review. She treated me and my brother and my son with such hospitality that we will continue to use these cabins again. We had debated after renting cabins here for deer season for the last 15 years wether to move onto using air bnb because they are nicer than the cabins. She changed our minds and we will continue to be back! Just wish we’d have gotten her name! My son loved the banana nut muffin!!!

Great place to stay. The cabins are nice however they do need a little maintenance. The threshold on our cabin was falling apart and could cause an injury if not careful. Kurt and his crew are great. Very nice and the store is well stocked with everything you need.

This is a great place to stay when visiting Mark Twain Lake for fishing or boating. It is so nice to know we can stay somewhere reasonably priced close to the lake that provides us with a comfortable place to sleep and relax after a busy day on the lake. The staff were very friendly and helpful. It was easy to park with the boat and charge up the batteries. The breakfasts at the General Store were handy and yummy as well! We will definitely return on future trips.

Great place to stay and the friendliest people that work and stay there. My truck broke down and there were 2 people that noticed and both stopped by to offer any help they could give. I just started boating at Mark Twain but this is my go to place to stay and get any supplies needed.

The only reason for 4 stars is the cabins need actual blackout curtains, I was up much earlier than I'd like both mornings because as soon as the sun comes up it gets bright inside. Other than that I enjoyed my stay. Cabins are a little old but I thought they were clean inside and for less than a hotel room you get 3 full size beds, couch, satellite TV and my favorite part a full kitchen. If you plan on doing alot of cooking maybe bring your own cookware. Plus you get a fire pit and grille outside and if you don't want to cook there's a restaurant next door and the gas station has food, surprisingly the station doesn't jack up prices on everything like common in touristy areas. I will be back again this time with friends.

The cabin was nice but the furniture is awful. The beds were comfy though. Nice location to marina and boat ramp. Most of the staff were friendly. Would stay there again. Please update your furniture. After spending 10 hours fishing in a boat it would be nice to come back to the cabin and not sit on a sofa board.

I highly recommend Cannon Dam Cabins, especially for families and groups! Our Cabin was very clean and well-maintained, had all of the amenities we could have asked for plus more. The convenient store was within walking distance and everyone was very friendly, it was well-stocked with everything we had forgot to bring on our last minute trip. The fish were biting, and the kids had a blast on the playground and Pool that were on site. Our kids(plus Mom and Dad) had such a great time that they convinced us to reserve a cabin for next week. See you all soon, and thanks again!

LOVE LOVE LOVE, this place. The Cabins are awesome better than the pictures online. The Store is awesome, the Staff is awesome. I will forsure be back!!! Really Really enjoyed myself, and the fur babies also loved their stay. Highly recommend this place for yourself, or for a family gettaway also.

This was our second year staying at Cannon Dam cabins.This was a great place for our family gathering. We rented seven cabins so each family had their own space for quiet times. The interior of the cabins have been freshly painted and updated. (The exterior can be deceiving) The indoor pool was very clean and provided great fun for the grandkids. The general store had just about everything we needed.We will definitely be back again.Thank you for a great experience.

I’ve stayed in these cabins 5 years in a row now. So much public land and lake access just down the road. The entire staff is professional, knowledgeable, friendly and most importantly accommodating. As a veteran hunting is a big part of my life and every year I bring more friends. And every year they come here. This place is outstanding for deer, turkey, fishing and trapping. They even open the general store early on rifle opening day to accommodate hunters with hot coffee and hot food. I will Be coming to this year place to stay and hunt for years to come. I hope my children enjoy it as much as I do.

We stayed in these cabins the weekend of May 11-13, 2018. We thought the experience was great, we even told the lady at check-out that we would be coming back for sure! We had a hard time finding the cabins at first, but that was due to poor service and poor planning on our end. The staff was very friendly, the cabins were fully stocked as they said that they would be. Yes, as other reviews stated the towels were a little small, but bring your own and you will be fine. The beds are as comfortable as they can be. The cabins were clean, I mean we are "camping" so what would you expect? They do allow pets, but no one seemed to bring any that were disorderly, we brought ours also. The cashiers in the store were always friendly with smiling faces and the walk from the cabins to the store is extremely convenient. I am not sure that their private lake actually has any fish in it, but we were there for Mark Twain and a nice weekend away so their lake was only an added bonus! Overall, our experience was definitely 5 star and we will most definitely be back with our family!! Thank you Cannon Dam Cabins!

Loved our motel cabin!! Never stayed here before even though we have been coming to the lake since the 1980s. Only place we will stay from now on! Love the view of the pond, fire pit, our own picnic table, BBQ grill and indoor pool for when it rained one day. The motel/cabin had everything we needed. Our TV box went out and Kurt the owner was right on it! Had a new box put in asap! We enjoyed our stay SO much and didn't want to leave so we paided to stay a extra night! Highly recommend!

The young man was polite and helpful, sharing local info with my husband, as he did 2 loads of laundry in about 1.5hrs in their very clean and reasonably priced washers and dryers. The fire wood was reasonably priced and burned for several hours.

When we made reservations for our family, sight unseen, we assumed these cabins would be acceptable. However, when we arrived we were absolutely disgusted. The cabins, were outdated, dirty, smelly fishing shacks. When getting ready for bed, I turned back the blanket on the bed and it was FULL of black hair. Moving to the next bed, my husband turned the covers back and there were bugs everywhere. We then loaded our luggage back into our vehicle and told the rest of our group to check there rooms. They did, and also found bugs. They then loaded there things and we immediately started calling to find a place that could accommodate our large group. We drove 45 minutes to another location due to the fact it was graduation weekend. We called the owner the next morning to let him know the situation. He was very defensive and not professional regarding a refund. Definitely NOT acceptable and I would not recommend these cabins to anyone.

My boyfriend and I absolutely love this place! It's so nice to only have an hour drive from Saint Louis, into these cabins, only two minutes from the lake's boat ramp!All these negative comments on here are a joke. If you want luxury cabins with turn down service, just get a hotel. Both times we have came, the rooms were very clean, and fully furnished as advertised. Spaceous, quaint, comfortable beds - OH! And the staff are just above and beyond. We showed up 15 minutes until the general store closed, and Dakota was so welcoming, asked us if we wanted a fresh pizza or wings - which we totally did, we were starving! He was especially accomidating, so nice. Part of the reason we enjoyed our stay so much was the amazing staff. So thank you all!!! I couldn't ask for a better stay. This will be our new weekend away trip for many years to come!

Our family stayed in the cabins for 3 days last week and overall really enjoyed our stay. We were slightly disappointed in the very outdated, broken down furniture in the cabin but thankfully took our own camping chairs to use instead. Sadly the beds were terrible and no one got a restful night sleep but we loved the atmosphere and the staff at the store were very friendly and helpful. We really enjoyed the quietness and friendliness of the site and have discussed returning next year, but hoping they have new mattresses by then so we can get some sleep this time.

My family stayed here this past weekend 8/1/19 to 8/3/19 and we had an amazing time. We definitely would recommend this place. After reading the other reviews I feel I should mention that this place had everything we needed for a “Camping” weekend. The cabins are a bit older but we could see that from the pictures on the website. So if you check out the place before you rent it you will not be surprised when you get here. It is as advertised. I also want to mention how helpful the owner and staff are. I was wanting a bag of potatoes for supper so I sent the kids down to the little store there and they did not have a bag for sale but the staff was willing to give us what they had in their kitchen. Any time we where at the cabin (spent a lot of time on the lake) my son was back fishing in the pond. We would stay again.

Do not follow Google Maps! Turn at the gas station & general store next to the Rustic Oak Cabin Steakhouse! Otherwise, I loved our stay. The cabins were perfect for a rustic girls' weekend and the on-site indoor pool, firepits at each cabin, gas station & convenience store and pond view topped off the experience. The staff was friendly and helpful and they make great pizzas. I'd definitely come back!

We loved Cannon Dam Cabins! The staff is super friendly. The cabins are located just across the street from Ray Behrens boat ramp and the Blackjack Marina. Right next door to the Rustic Oak Cabin Restaurant with fantastic food. They have an indoor pool, playground and on-site fishing pond. The cabins were clean and AC was super cold. We will be back!

I stayed here for about 3 weeks in 2020 it has great cabins plenty of comforts.Close to Mark Twain Lake State Park .Has a indoor swimming pool. There's fire pit at each cabin the store is a plus and they have washing machine's and dryer's a small fishing lake i caught a 5 pound large mouth bass there. I had a good experience there.

Had a bachelor party at Mark Twain lake. The Cannon Dam Cabins was very accommodating. They recommended boat rental, good access to the lake, and had all the amenities that you need on site. The staff was great with working on getting all housing together for our large group. Their fueling station was easily accessible.The general store was well stocked with the basic essentials and good liquor selection. The rooms were clean. Easy access to the indoor pool. The private fishing pond is quiet with a pavilion and larger burn pit for larger parties. Thanks for the use of picnic benches!

We had an extended family vacation gathering in one of their family poolside cabins. It consists of two of the motel room cabins and two of the full kitchen cabins all connected. We liked the fact that the space allowed for all 15 of us to be together. We also enjoyed the pool and thought it was pretty clean. That is about where our enjoyment of this cabin ends.The cabins just really need more attention paid to their cleaning. The carpets are very worn, dirty and holes in spots. The mattresses must be very old as you can feel the coils in them when you lay down and you roll to whatever side of the bed is more worn. Thus, we did not get a very good night sleep. The kitchens are a mix and match of dishes, utensils, and cookware. I am so glad that we had brought sturdy paper plates to eat a majority of our meals from. I am not sure if there would have been enough dishes for everyone. Also, although the family cabin sleeps 20, there is only seating around the two kitchen tables to seat 8. It would be a more practical use of space to get rid of one of the beds that is out in the middle of the kitchen/living area and replace it with a larger table. As another reviewer stated, the towels are not big enough to fit around even our elementary school age children and they were thin and scratchy like sandpaper. The sheets were very thin and barely covered the mattress with no mattress pad of any sort. Another big complaint is that there were soooo many flies and gnats and flying insects around the cabin all the time. One night when we stepped out for a moment it looked like a swarm of bugs came rushing in. They proceeded to hang out on the ceiling all night long....at least 100 of them...we tried to swat at them and it left bug stains on the ceiling (which I doubt will be wiped off) and in the morning we found the bathtub littered with all the bugs that made their way to the light we had left on in there through the night. YUCK! If you can get past all of the things I described, feel free to stay here for the close location to the lake and fun pool time, but be aware that this is no Holiday Inn. Compared to other places our extended family has stayed for vacations, the price they charge seems high for what you are getting. Not worth the cost in our opinion.

Loved the peace and quiet of this place right after Labor Day. First time there so don't know how it would be during the summer but we loved it here! Definitely not a Marriott but if you're looking to relax and reconnect or connect with small town America, this is your place. My husband and I plan to return again next year. ..can't wait!

Very disappointed in accommodations. Bathroom Had no place to hang towels. Utensils for cooking were practically nonexistent. Some appliances did not work. All in all one of the worst places we’ve ever stayed. Could not pull in programs from TV. And finally there were ants found in the kitchen.

We arrived at 11:00 pm to our cabins (#22, 23, 24) on May 14, 2021 to find little black bugs crawling all over the head of the beds. There was black hair on the other bed in the cabin which left us without a place to stay. We wound up driving 45 minutes away to get a room. When speaking to Curt, he told me he was not going to refund our money at first and then when speaking to him again he said he would refund 50% of it. He then tells me he rented those rooms out the next night.

God awful!Place was dirty and smelt awful. Looks like it was never cleaned !!! Then turns out my entire family got scabies from staying in cabin 24 !!!!! I called and asked to speak to a manager and the man was super rude saying he didn’t know what to tell me !!! Now after spending 375 for three nights we also had to fork out money for urgent care visits and treatment !!! Will never return and informing everyone I know about this disgusting place. Save your money and health , find somewhere else to stay.

Had a nice camping weekend. They really need to update the mattresses. All of the beds were very uncomfortable. The amenities and store were great. Mark Twain Lake is very nice. 3 days was max because of the beds.

I was expecting a simple yet clean little cabin. What we got was an old worn cabin that wasn't very clean. I killed so many flies and spiders. There were ants crawling on the kitchen counters. The toilet smelled like urine. The bath towels that were provided were not much bigger than hand towels and they were as rough as sand paper. The whole place is dingy. We were so disappointed with the so called "lake". There really wasn't much access to it to fish because it's surrounded by so much tall grass and cattails. The few parts you can access the lake is so shallow! That was very disappointing for my 7 year old son who loves to fish. I gave this place one star because I thought everyone was friendly. We will not be back.
