Rhett is a sweet golden retriever who was up for adoption. My sister and her fiancé are both RN’s and were so excited to meet Rhett! When they met they fell in love. They also had no other dogs in their home.Diane was awful to them, treated them EXTREMELY condescending and rude because they didn’t have their prior deceased dogs vet records.Ultimately, they gave Rhett to a family that already had another dog (after the facility made clear that he couldn’t be placed with another dog). What was the outcome? Poor Rhett was given to that home and then returned. The only victim in all of this is poor Rhett who is probably more upset & confused than ever.2 of my comments were completely removed and then I was blocked from the page, from both mine & my husbands account. They were extremely wrong in all of this and apparently they want to hide it.I would recommend being very careful with this slimy group, and I pity anyone who has to meet Diane. She’s the worst human being we’ve ever encountered in the public.

This post is for Dirks Fund in Pacific Mo, my daughter lost her 14 year old Border collie and was heartbroken she went to this place to adopt a golden retriever she has a beautiful home with a fenced in back yard, this place turned her down because she didn’t have the dogs shot record as those and his food and water bowls were buried with him. This is the third time someone I know was turned down by these people for absolutely no reason she went up and visited this dog and fell in love with him. They want these babies to have a good home but yet when a decent person wants to adopt one they put her and her fiancé through a million hoops then gave the dog to someone else. SHAME ON EVERYONE OF YOU THERE. I will NEVER PROMOTEthis place TO ANYONE EVER AGAIN. They are ridiculous. Also I will tell anyone they will listen exactly what they do, that dog would have had more love than he could stand my daughter and her fiancé are the best fur baby parents there are. Now we found out they adopted him to a customer who already had a dog ( that is also against their rules) now the poor dog is BACK at the shelter and probably confused and sad. You people are some of the worst I’ve ever seen.this couple are both registered nurses and there was no excuse for them to be turned down. These people need to understand if you want these dogs adopted quit being judge and jury with people.

They make you jump through hoops for a dog, then wonder why they have dogs who have been there for years? They wanted vet records from a dog who has passed away - makes no sense to me. Diane had a nasty scowl on her face the whole time and even walked away mid conversation. I hope nobody has to meet her or deal with this place ever.

The staff and volunteers were amazing! But the best part was getting to hang out with all the doggos 🐶 💕

Our dog Hallie came from Dirk’s Fund. They know their dogs and take the time to place them with the right people. I tell everyone who is looking for a dog to go there, and eventually when the time comes our next dog will be from Dirk’s Fund!

I adopted my Great Pyrenees, Dewey, from Dirk’s Fund a year ago. The volunteers are kind, passionate and dedicated. They are very thorough in their vetting process to ensure every dog is going to a good home that will be the best match. The dogs receive great care while waiting to be adopted. Highly recommend Dirk’s Fund for finding your new best friend!

Adopted our Chief from there. Love how they vet the dogs and have everyone that will be involved with him meet up. We took our grandkids so we could see how he did with them. He is the perfect addition to our family.

On my second Dirk’s dog. I wouldn’t adopt from anywhere else! They vet their dogs like no other rescue and really screen applicants. You know the dog you are getting!

We adopted our new best friend almost 4 years ago - our Great Pyrenees named Kane. I check back often and recommend them to anyone who is interested in adopting their own best friend.

Interviewed several great dogs here. The staff/volunteers were wonderful and helped us truly get to know the different pups.

I am a previous rescuer with plenty of patience for a rescue with issues. I walked into this establish with everything they requested (We drove from Kansas city) to make the process easier for everyone. I was willing to spend double the cost for a pair that they did not want to split and they denied me due to a fence issue at a lake house where they wouldn't of even been. I think these dogs are treated very well but I also think they are not in the business to find them homes. It's a convenient Saturday get together for the volunteers. Who were eating and watching tv.Why would they want to ruin a perfect thing? At the end of the day they were rude(except ED) and made us feel as if we were not good enough to have a dog. Another thing Bob (the owner) and my mom had made arrangements to meet at ther shelter after several phone calls together. BOB DID NOT EVEN SHOW UP! Great business etiquette.I DO NOT RECOMMEND THEM AT ALL.

Very friendly people, knowledgeable about needs and individual dogs. They were very happy to let our young kids just get a feel for big dogs, so that eventually they'll be comfortable with them! They actually encouraged it. Great large play yards, well kept and clean, the dogs seemed comfortable and well cared for.

We had to give up our 2 goldens, Cooper and Bentley due to moving out of state. Both were adopted together last week to a Wonderful forever family that could give the boys the Love and Attention they both needed and deserved. We Absolutely hated and thought long and hard about giving up our two Wonderful boys, but in the end, it was NOT feasible, or fair to them. We loved Our boys enough to let them get adopted by another family to love and play with them. Dirks shelter took both boys and as promised adopted them together as they are dependent upon each other. Bob and his staff are Wonderful. Thank you Bob for finding Our two Beautiful goldens a forever home. We will Always love them, and miss them, but are Excited for them and their New forever family. Sincerely Sherri/Jamie

I want to start by saying that I really do think what they are doing is a good thing. However, they are extremely rude!! My family and I drove out to look at the dog's they had so we could do the right thing and give a good home to a dog that needed it. Sure we could have gone to a breeder or some puppy mill to find the new addition to our family no questions asked, but we decided to find a dog that would benefit from our loving home. When we arrived and started talking about what we were looking for and asking to maybe meet some of the dogs we were IMMEDIATELY told "Deal Breaker!!" over and over because we didn't have the specific requirements that they would like the owners to have. I am fine with the fact that you want people to meet a specific criteria, but to treat me and my family like we are poor pet owners just because I don't have a fence and raise my dog a certain way is UNACCEPTABLE!!You should all be ashamed of yourself in treating a family this way. Just because you are doing something good for the animals doesn't elevate you to the point that you can treat people and families this way. One good act doesn't cancel out a bad act. If I wasn't a good fit that is fine, but when you tell me you can use some tact......LOOK IT UP!!!I was thinking of not writing this post and letting it go, but I have talked to other families that were treated the same way and for that reason I want to caution anyone that patrons this facility for you may not be very well received.

Love this place and was very friendly. We felt like family during our interaction for Clifford. I would highly recommend checking them out to save a rescue. I even drove over 2 hours just to see one in person and worth it, later the next day I drove back to get him since I didn’t have the room to take him home with everyone and our other dog in the vehicle.

Tried to have a civil conversation and made well thought out arguments about their yard and fence requirement for a dog, all I got back through email was Bob saying if I don’t like the requirements I can go somewhere else. Also spoke to Bob over the phone and his tone and response to my inquiry was very rude. Obviously Bob does not care about the image of Dirk’s Fund. Will not be adopting from here in the future even when I get a yard and fence.

Dont even bother with them if u live in the city. They'll visit ur house, make some off hand remark about the size of ur yard and never call u again. They even had us go back to the city to get our current dog and drive back. Also gave them our vet records for labs we previously owned but recently passed. Basically wasted our time. At least call people back when they do everything u ask. Dont be jerks and leave people hanging. It's called common courtesy. Go to stray rescue instead. They're courteous and know ur not there to waste their time.

Thanks for introducing Niki to our Family. Niki is a Great Pyrenees that was very cautious around new people.Dirks paid visits to our home afterward to be surprised how Niki made the transition into our Family.

I did not visit there. I honestly believe most rescues are good and are needed. This one seems to be one of the good ones, but 400 n 500 a dog is way too much.It Chase's some good adopters n homes away. Like me. 😞
