The chicken was perfectly cooked, juicy, and tender. The green beans with bacon were a very tasty addition. The mashed potatoes were seasoned well and very enjoyableI had the three piece chicken, mashed potatoes with gravy and corn. I actually ordered the two piece and an extra thigh because I don't care for the dry white meat but the kitchen made a mistake and gave me the breast and since they are fried to order, I didn't want to wait to cook another thigh.All the reviews about the good fried chicken were wrong.It's awesome! The breading is so thin it's almost non-existent, but there is just the right amount to keep the skin crispy and hold tremendous flavor. The skin was so crispy it was like it was broasted instead of fried. The meat was juicy and tender, and I even enjoyed the white meat of the breast. I love fried chicken, and this is some of the best.Perri, our server, talked me into the extra seasoning, and I was not disappointed. Just enough spices to add a small kick to the taste but not make it hot.Perri was friendly, professional, and helpful doing a great job of service.This is a small place with just a few tables.Overall, it was excellent.Highly recommended two thumbs-up 👍 👌

BKs has really good chicken. The seasoning is perfect. The quality of the chicken is very good. Waiting staff was friendly and did well attending to us throughout our meal. They're always busy, but the food always comes out hot and delicious. I would definitely recommend them to anyone looking for a place to eat in Monroe City.

Went here for the first time and is the last time we will go. Took them over 20 minutes to bring us drinks. We were there for 2 hours. Food was cold. I had to ask for the appetizers. We ordered chicken tacos and right before they brought them out they told us they only make beef. My daughter who doesnt eat beef, was hungry because we had waited so long she she said fine. But when they were brought out they were cold. She ended up ordering a chicken sandwich. As they brought out the rest of the food out it was cold. Service was bad. We definitely wont go there. And they were not even busy. It was a tuesday night. Totally disappointed.

My boyfriend and I stopped in on the way through on a Saturday midday. The service was pretty bad but I can forgive that. We waited an hour for our food to come out. My boyfriends was cold. The mashed potatoes were from a box and cold. The meat was not a steak, it was ground up and mixed together under the gravy. The home cut fries were soggy and burnt. The fish fillet I had was off in taste and texture. The potato wedges were alright and the green beans were good. The atmosphere was good but the food was gross and we waited forever for it. The bacon cheese fries were alright. I've heard the fried chicken is good so there's that but we are not coming back. Overall, the food was too expensive for the fact that it all came from the grocery store and took so long to come.

Food was awful, didn’t get all the items we paid for and ordered. Took a very long time and we were the only table. The waitstaff (teenagers) were talking about their (sexual relationships while I waited in front of them at the cash register for 5+ minutes waiting to pay. Never came back to the table after she dumped the food off and ran away. Didn’t even get plates for the pizza. Don’t recommend.

Small town, family owned and operated restaurant serving some amazing home cooking. Hand-breaded chicken, grilled chicken tenders, wonderful sides and cold sweet tea and lemonade are hits at this homey downtown eatery. The server is knowledgable, efficient, and friendly. The owner and staff take pride in operating a super-clean front-of-house and the food is amazing. I had the grilled chicken tenders, green beans, sweet potato fries, and unsweetened tea. The homemade buffalo and honey mustard dipping sauces were delicious complements to the meal. Don't drive through downtown Monroe City without stopping for good conversation and great food at this gem of Americana.

First time experience it was different. Let's start by saying the building is a little confusing with the Bathrooms. I was pretty shocked i have been in many restaurants but the bathroom was extremely clean. The building is split in two, but looks like it needs sum updating done. Paint is peeling a bit inside. Now to the food, the chicken was pretty good. I don't like the fact you don't have the choice to choose if you want a thigh,leg, breast, or wing when you order a 2pc, or 4 pc on the meals. The chicken was a little soft for my liking, I would say it was a bit more crisper it would be sum of the best chicken I have eaten. I can understand why this restaurants is known for the season on the chicken, my taste buds were happy! Mashed potatoes with brown and sweet potatoes was amazing. Great job! My tongue was dancing in my mouth behind those item's! Server needs to smile more be a little more friendly, but this is comfort food for sure. So give my regards to the cooks in the kitchen. Keep up the good work! I can see this being a place I stop at every time I'm in town. Just need a few improvements!

This place has a great selection of food on their menu but if you are looking for great fried chicken this is the place. I had the 4 piece chicken dinner with mashed potatoes and gravy and green beans. When they bring out your dinner be careful everything is hot and the chicken is just out of the fryer hot. The chicken is lightly coated, crispy and juicy with just a hint of spice. The mashed potatoes was homemade and the green beans looked like they were from a garden. For dessert I had lemon meringue pie which was awesome. I do recommend this place.

UPDATE: I came back to give more stars since trying this place. I’ve actually been a few times now. I gave it a 1 star originally and I’m changing it to 5 star. This is the first time I’ve changed a review so drastically. They have hands down the best chicken I’ve ever had. Everyone I’ve ever had contact with has been nothing but awesome!Tried to order 3 separate times for take out. First two times I was told they were out of what I ordered. Tired one last time. Was told they are not taking orders. I just drove by and there were several tables of people inside. They close at 9, called at 8:30 to order a very simple and small order. Was told they are not taking orders. If that’s the case, then advertise you close at 8:30. I can’t give any stars to a place I can’t seem to even try. Maybe one day I will actually get service. I’ll give a new and better review, if I’m ever given the chance to even order.

Highly recommend. Absolutely love to eat here! The new location and rustic decor I really like. They have excellent cooks with a varied menu and buffet of delicious options and you'll be well cared for by their lovely waitresses. There is an adjoining door leading to a pub and extra seating. The friendly owner always takes a moment to visit with you as she rushes around keeping things running smoothly.

Was greeted with a smile and hello. The young lady that waited on me was super sweet and very helpful. I'm new to the area and this was my first time dinning here. Menu wasn't over crowded with tons of different things, but still had a good selection to choose from.The young lady recommended the seasoned chicken with the mashed potatoes and gravy. I am so glad she did. It may not have been my momma's, but it was sure close to it. It really reminded me of being home in Alabama. I definitely will be back. If the rest of the food is has good as the chicken you have a new regular at BKS.

Our service was horrible! Our waitress was not polite! We had to ask for napkins, silverware, salt, pepper and ketchup. She never came back to our table to see if we needed drinks refilled or ask how the food was! We had to wait for her to come back to the table to take our money, she kept walking around us. We have always had good service, except not tonight! We always tip well, needless to say not tonight!!

We were looking for great fried Chicken on our way home from a 3 week vacation. This was a really good fried chicken. Well worth the diversion from the highway. It was recommended to Us by a local patron of another restaurant. We would definitely go back there again on a future trip.

Had a potato bowl and some wedges. Wedges were nicely light breaded and seasoned fantastic. Bowl was decent size for price and nice flavor filled with corn, some chicken, brown or white gravy i chose brown and it was delicious. Some shredded cheese layered on top nice and even. Very happy with the meal. Edit: (09/15/2018) as an update. Another visit. Had same items but also tacked on the 5pc chicken tenders. Little over $8 for them. Made me wonder about their size. No disappointment at all. Large tenders, well worth the price. Seasoning had. A nice little spice to em for a bold flavor but not overpowering. Friendly staff. Very happy with their business :)

I try and rate a restaurant as fairly as i can and the atmosphere it is in. I seen many good reviews for this place and my wife and i along with our 3 kids stopped in cause when we are traveling and have to eat out we try and support local/small business`. Food was not very good it was hot yes however was store food that was either frozen or out the package, which is fine and understandable at a small business if it has flavor put into it. Very nice owner however our server checked on us once compared to the owners 3 times. The prices on the menu was not the same price i paid which i always hate when it turns out to be more than expected its kinda disappointing.The server i noticed used water from the bath room sink to use for the coffee which is absolutely unacceptable!!! I would not visit again and really hope this place improves! I do want to clarify our server was not rude,however couldve smiled a little and paid more attention to us.

Place was clean. The waitress was fast to get our drinks and take our order. Food was excellent at fair prices! Recommend the sweet potato fries and chicken ranch wrap. I'm sure the whole menu is just as good. Thank you BK.

DO NOT COME TO THIS PLACE AT NIGHT!!!I went into BKs place on Wednesday during the day for the first time ever, the food was good and the service was outstanding (the service was so good we tipped more then 50%). I live about an hour away and This restaurant seemed like it was a place I would drive over an hour just for good food and good service. However, I came in tonight and the service was horrible the waitress took our order and walked right away never checked on us for drink refills or how the food was without being told to do so. The cook was in the dining room talking to customers more then the wait staff! When I asked for ketchup I was handed packets like it was a fast food joint and the waitresses shut the signs down and shut down the restaurant 35 minutes before closing. I highly doubt I’ll be back.

The ONLY place for.fried chicken because when you taste Miss BKs you will never want any fried chicken but hers. We drive a little over an hour for it that is.just.how.good it is! Her new location is beautiful country chic. Cozy comfy great prices huge portions just SCRUMPTIOUS!!!!!

We stopped in because the family restaurant in town was closed. First time there and will be the last time. The food and portion sizes were a joke. Waitress was overworked and they were understaffed. I had a taco salad and was waiting waiting for the waitress to come back to ask how things were and that never happened. I would be probably exaggerating if I said I had 1 cup of tossed salad. I got both beef and chicken, thankfully because that's all there really was. The edible shell bowl felt more like leather I could not even cut it with the knife. I left hungry. Waitress never came back after bringing food. In fact we had to walk to the register, I waited about 10 minutes for someone to even recognize me when the Waitress showed up with the order sheet. I could have just walked out, however Regardless of how terrible it was I was s going to pay for the 4 things we ordered. My wife got cheesy bacon fries. Lol 25 crinkle cut fries and white cheese spattered on the fries with imitation bacon bits tossed on the plate.. there wasn't even enough cheese to hold the imitation bits to the fries. Obviously we were not the only disappointed people as well a gentleman and his wife were waiting at the register as well to leave and said they had a terrible meal. Appears the owners a hands off based on other reviews we found after the fact on Facebook. Alot of disappointed people and the owners don't even respond to help correct there flaws. They won't last long regardless of how well there fried chicken is.. or maybe they will change there name to KFC or something of the like.
