I love Ace Hardware everywhere I go. However, this Ace Hardware was a real standout because there were so many helpful people. Especially when I went to check out with a pair of gloves and I mentioned that I was going to be handling barbed wire, The clerk said no you need to make sure you get real leather gloves otherwise that wire will go right through. So I went back and found myself some real leather gloves! I was very grateful for the information that the gloves I had selected were not good for the job I had planned!

Great place for all the house hold needs. A bit pricey but you're paying for quality! And everything there is the best quality.

This is a smaller Ace Hardware so selection is more limited than in a larger store. Staff is always friendly and looking to assist. They generally have a turnover of some staff over several months (appears to be high school students) though all appear to be well-trained and there are some long-term employees that are excellent. Facilites are clean and well-lit. Prices are generally higher than at a big box hardware store though those are about a 30 minute drive away, so, often the gas savings make it worthwhile to shop at this Ace.Edit - two additional notes:(1) price differences range from inconsequential to significant. One significant example is hydrated lime pellets for the lawn. 40 lb bag was over $12 at Ace (Sept 2023), but was about 1/2 that at HD. I bought 8 bags at Ace at over $100 (with tax), then returned it when I checked HD on line. Different brand, but the same stuff. A $50 cost difference was worth the drive to HD.(2) the store owner provided a reply to my original post but it was a (nicely-worded) canned response that did not mention anything specific in my review. Frankly, I’d rather not have received anything instead of a generic reply. The reply did, however, provide a link to a questionnaire to give more details.

Have purchased all my needs for my new home when I arrived in Macon six months ago. Do not shop anywhere else. Go to for assistance. Snow blower, lawn mower, barbecue, tools, lawn equipment, filters, bulbs, etc. etc. Customer service is exemplary!

Good store, good people but not what it was when it was locally owned. My understanding is Corporate chooses the inventory, and that's fine, it has a great general OH stock. When I worked there in HS, if someone asked for something you didn't stock, you orderd it, the second time you got a request you made a spot on the shelf for it. Times change.

Had an issue with the cashier and night manager not refunding my deposit for rug doctor however I contacted the general manager and he refunded me my money! He’s a good GM! He resolved my issue!

When they say, "Ace is the Place with the helpful Hardware man (or in some cases woman)." They ain't lyin. I've been into Westlake Ace Hardware in Macon to buy paint, toilet supplies, furnace supplies, seeds, tools, batteries, cleaning supplies, tape, gifts, flowers, and my list goes on. Each time, they've been helpful and courteous and I'm not just talking about their floor staff but their entire staff. When I say, "Check Out," Westlake Ace Hardware, I mean check them out because they usually will have what you need at a reasonable price; plus, if you use your Ace Rewards card, you may save little bit more. Get a lot more, and save a bit more with your "ACE" in the hole: Macon, Missouri's Westlake Ace Hardware.

No normal greet when you walk into most Westlake, I was just stared at by the cashier who was doing nothing. Saw 3 workers only the last one asked if I needed help and I'd found what I needed by then. Checked out and the cashier still had no customer service skills. No thank you or anything. I'll keep my Westlake's business in Moberly.
